Van Halen has changed singers several times. I wonder why this band went the way it did at that time. They are doing it the right way now. I saw the Detroit show on 11/12/11.
I think this would have faired better in the publics mind if they created a new band name...just to give a new perspective and to void us of the temptation to anticipate the voice of Jim....like New Order changing from Joy Division when Ian Curtis died....perhaps even getting a new lead singer, one who didn't sound anything like Jim...a fresh start.
@SEdwardWilson well actully from what i heard/ read the morrison less doors were acepted for a time when they put out the 2 albums but when they broke up and came out with american prayer that all went away and tthe morrison less doors were forgotten and treated like a bad nightmare which is a shame since other voices is a fantastic album ironic ray and robbie don't feel replaceing john and jim is disrespecting to the legacy but instead haveing 3 original members make new music is??
It's a good album. It has a completely different sound therefore can not be compared to Jim Morrison and the Doors. It would be a different story if they just redid old songs but this is original
Thanks for posting this. This is an incredible album. I remember when it was released - you could tell the remaining Doors were really trying to keep the group going and not just cashing in. You could also tell they were pissed the Morrison left them. Although, by the way reckless way he lived, that was Jim's destiny. The lyrics to this sound are just incredible, I could see a pop singer having a hit with this.
I think the Doors could have continued on without Morrison much like Van Halen survived without David Lee Roth or Hot Tuna survived without Jefferson Airplane. The thing is, they would have to redefine themselves. They chose not to do that though, it seems
Thanks for posting this I've never heard it before.I also just watched them live tonight in concert.Dave Brock was the singer and he sounds exactly like Jim.It was kinda erie really. But it was a great fuckin' show.
Strange days indeed, with all of the reissues /remasters of the Doors studio albums and the live albums that have come out in the last few years and in years past, why they won't just go on ahead and reissue the 2 albums they made without Jim: Other Voices and Full Circle to satisfy the curious and collectors and fans.
Wow! This is the first I've ever heard any post-Morrison Doors music. I was so curious what they could sound like without Jim. I always thought they would still sound good. Afterall, Jim didn't have much to do with the music side of things. I thought if their voices sounded half good, which they do, it should still have the same overall sound. I like it. I wish they could have had support from fans. Does it really matter that Jim isn't with them? It's the music that matters, and it's there.
I've always meant to pick up a copy of this album. None of it ever received airplay. I think the three musicians sound "sprung" from Jim's pretentious presence. There is definitely organ, supplied, of course, by the creative fingers and mind of Ray Manzarek. The Doors were characterized largely by Jim's poetic prowess, but the music was an equally crucial element as this song demonstrates. Thanks for posting it!
always loved this tune!

This is the first time I have heard post-Morrison Doors. I've got to say that this song is amazing, especially the keyboard soloing.

you can't ask musicians to stop making music that's like asking sneakers O'tool to take his sneakers off.
