  • Outstanding video, This is the most calming song by the Dead for me. I feel at peace when ever I listen to it. This band will live on for all of us who were and are a part of the magical days. And yes there truly is magic!! Peace to all of you and thanks for the posting.

  • Just as I remember it, For all of us Dead Heads

  • gewd stuff ^.^

  • what a peaceful song..(Tears)

  • whoooooooooa man I'm sooooo tripped!! Sorry couldn't resist..but thanks, this was the only non-cover of this song I could find on youtube..I lost my cd and switched computers :( I don't particularly like this band, but American Beauty and Workingman's Dead are great albums.

  • Very very cool - love it!

  • thanks for putting this up. It´s been a long time since I heard The Dead and I´m Grateful.

  • I want this played at my funeral....great tune IMHO...

  • Right on, man. I'll be sure to tell my friends/family this is the song I want.

  • Yes, its a very peacefull song.

  • This is an incredible post!! Awesome song and beautiful video...saved to faves....

    10**********

    peace and love

  • rong! this songs about life about it ending

everyone of us has thier own path to fallow in life ..we stand all alone in this

we come alone into this world..and we leave alone.

  • This song is not about drugs really in any way. Or never was for me. While shrooms can be a very spiritual experience, this is more about a sober personal religious experience. And wishing others the same.

  • merry christmas jerry,

are you still singin songs of peace and love?

  • Lovin it folks keep on posting this wonderful shit I've seen 3:15 on a 10th blast of 5 meo dmt and ketamine when I was younger but see the beauty in all of creation these days and always have in this song! Luv'n you family!

  • The Dead actually transcended drugs. Here we are, thirty plus years later, their music is better than ever. Yeah, I was there in SF during the early 70s at Winterland etc... and enjoyed the whole scene. In hindsight, the drugs, although a part of the whole deal, were just a footnote to the creative genius of the Dead. The music will live on forever.

  • Art piece on 1:51- gorgeous! Please tell me where I can find it.

  • I use my real name and am honored to on this awesome clip. Everyone use their real name. Kudos to this cat that made this video.

  • Don't follow my directions and you'll have a bad one. My point is don't have one at all. This is to you and the law. But if you must, have one, then proceed with caution. Someone in their post spoke about eating mushrooms so I had to give caution from experience. Caution Do Not Stop On Tracks. And don't drive that train, either.

  • dude, let people have thier own experiences, thats what lifes about, i think shrooms are a way of seeing your inner self and fears especially if you have a bad one,

i mean dude i saw my organs come out of my stomach and knives going through my body and cutting me open and had to throw them up, and i learned more about myself that day than any other one in my life, sure it was probably the worst 5 hours of my life but i dont regret it.

why are you talkin about the law.

  • like far out man

  • i love the grateful dead, theyre so soothing, every time im in a bad mood i just listen to this song, it makes me feel so much better about everything, no matter what, jerrys voice just makes me feel like everything is alright and good,

rip jerry, wish i could have seen them live.

that first pic of the shroom though makes me shiver that shit is nasty,

  • Honey and psyllicybin and cinnamon and gingko. Make a paste and don't take too much.

  • I don't know if it's legal or not and "don't really care" I don't do anything like that. Ever again. And never will.

  • this is rubbish.

  • what is rubbish? these men really understood music and wrote great lyrics!

  • is it like bacon and eggs? You can't take drugs without listening to the Grateful dead... And you can't listen to the Grateful dead unless you're on drugs? ... or is it just that any pleasurable experience is worth endlessly repaeating? I wish I knew. I blew my brains out with magic mushrooms over 30 years ago.

  • I think that is an awful thing to say...on so many levels

  • nice images..

  • i dont understand whats trippy about grateful dead. cool s-show but those pics dont seem to fit w/the music. i thought of pink floyd when i watched it

  • <3<3<3

  • In 2004 at Darien Lakes August 6th 2004 the 'Dead' closed their show without Jerry. Warren Haynes did a tremendous job in his place.

Walking out of the venue I said to my son; "I wonder if this is the last time I will here them." It was.

  • My favorite Song they did a good job with this song.

  • ripple is one of the greatest dead songs of all time.....

  • Great, magical video. I love how the EYE imagery haunts psychedelic minds. This music has calmed me down during a very harsh moment in an acid trip. Cried my heart out. It was as if they were singing just for me, really quiet so it wouldn't be upsetting.

"And if you go, no one may follow, that path is for your steps alone". So I went. I'll find my way home.

    Thank you

  • I think all their music reflects what gentle spirits they were.

  • this is perfect when stoned or even if not stoned :P nice and mellow

  • I get the meaning of this song, always have. God created us. Respect that. It's of a Biblical nature. It's a hard road we have to go. A hard row we have to hoe. And we are just a ripple in still water. Pieces of crap we are unless we love and hope and dream and forgive and realize our shortcomings. This is an awesome video along with the song. Wow.

  • sum1 told me to look them up so fuck yourself buddy

  • Lol... You know who really sucks nuts? Avenged Sevenfold. Find whoever told you to look up the Grateful Dead and thank them. Synyster Gates can blow me.

  • i like the Grateful Dead more but Avenged Sevenfold still rox

  • yall are lost. you just dont get it

  • then dont type grateful dead into the search box. and nobody here wants to hear your opinion.

  • i like a7x but the grateful dead is classsic dude.

  • just listen

  • you are fricken stupid! do you even get the "dead"? move on honey, go see a miley cyrus you tube

  • Ahhh yes, Fried and lost days in the parking lot for the concert what a wonderful time it was, and by day 4 I saw Jerry everywere I went !lol sorry gotta go Jerrys knocking at my door :)

  • weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • very mellow & easy to listen to..

  • You chose a wrong song, mate. "Ripple" is much too nice to play to your shit.

  • i agree with jess.... i think that "Franklin's Tower" would be a good song for this show. or maybe "Fire On The Mountain".

  • Great TDI dash at 4:03! I can tell from the tach

  • thanks

  • ...very beautiful slide show! :)

  • Yes, but there are some pics that make sme feel strange ...I love at the 1'35, 0'35, 3'04.Thanks for this great driving :)

  • *****

  • Excellent video, wonderful peaceful song. My favorite. Must listen daily

  • I heard this song this morning for the very first time at my friend's funeral. Seemed appropriate for her... beautiful.

  • omg that picture at 0:32 of alice in wonderland is my desktop background :D

    good choice love 5 stars.

  • I will eat me and let you know what happens! I guess i will drink tea too!

  • wow! meant to say eat more!:)

  • This is the music of my generation, and it still

means a lot to me :)I tripped several hundred times on the psilocybin blue caps..Nobody can tell you what you will see or experience..it's your trip...it's your path..for your feet alone..we've been doin' it for thousands of years..God Bless JG..fantastic!

  • My wives (ex and current) and children have instructions to play this at my funeral or whatever. It is the only thing I have asked of them. This one song brought me more peace in my life than anything else did. They can bury me in a shoe box as long as I can hear this going out.

  • At that time, please move over or leave me some room. My friend, I may have to join you. Peace to you and never stop kicking.

  • You couldn't have put it better. "Ripple" is the balsam for the people on their dying bed.But miraculously it's also a balsam for the new-born.

  • nice

  • trippy

  • i never seen shit like this on mushrooms! what am i doin wrong???

  • eat more caps

  • Make Tea :)

  • eat more

  • You're not doing anything wrong. People think mushrooms like make you see caterpillars everywhere smoking pipes. I mean, if you WANT to see that, you can focus enough and make yourself see that, but usually the lights just brighter, and shit makes you "lol"

  • one word: fantastic

  • i dislike mainstream music with a passion. im in the wrong generation...TAKE ME BACK. i hope heaven is the 60's and 70's...if so, kill me now.

  • Ah yes. My young days ( daze ) Sigh.

  • Yes. Am 64, and these are still my young daze.

  • What a "Long Strange Trip" it's been!

    Peace my friend.

  • yay!

  • That's one of my favorite songs. The tune is eerily similar to a gospel song. I'd love to know if that was intentional or if it just came out that way.

  • The Dead never cease to amaze me. This is some breathtaking stuff.

  • i don't know about mushrooms, but cool video. love this song.

  • People were just way more cool back then

  • When I compare this song to most of the crap that's being released today, it brings tears to my eyes. Or maybe I'm just getting old.

  • i often wonder where the musics gone too

  • Well we all are my cool friend! But yes

    Music was better "back then"

  • stresslie58

  • @69UM24OSU12 i second your motion

  • @69UM24OSU12 No i agree with you 100 % and im just 20 years old. the old music is way better than any of the crap they call music that's coming out these days.

  • Yrah, this is i in the movie Mask about Rocky Dennis. This song plays in the final scene. I've never heard the whole song before. Though I love the movie since I was a kid. Cher's acting was superb in that scene. I'll check the lyrics now. After 15 years!

  • Shrooms and a great sooong! Woohoo :D

  • Robert Hunter a underrated poet

  • this happens to be one of the most beautiful songs mankind will ever get the privilage to hear.

  • Wow. I understand. Know what mean?

  • they are so amazing. the feeling and meaning in their songs is so hidden, but so out in front of you. when it hits ya, its like fireworks.

  • then dont listen to it

  • These guys are pretty good. Wonder if they will ever attract a following?

  • please, please tell me your kidding, just in case your not they have a following alright, they're called dead heads, my history teacher happens to be one, and second of all if they didn't have one it would be too late, Jerry Garcia, the soul of the band is deceased.

  • Just kiddin'. However, thanks for your reply & just love your name. Chances are that at 64, I am a lot older than your teacher and I have been a Dead Head fan forever. Guess my Alzheimer's is acting up. Jerry who???
