Shout out to Max Manus from the USA. Very compelling war film. Makes one think about how people react to invasion and the lengths they go to. Very human dimension to the lead character and amazingly well designed, produced and directed. Hats off to Norway for an AMAZING emotional, tense, taunt, piece of cinema. How hip hop defines gangsta or soldier is lightyears away from the reality of a man like Max Manus. And to think, how Max saw the Nazis some see America 2day. INVASION IS WRONG!!!

Sweden, as Norway and Denmark, but mostly Denmark, have had complicated relations to Germany troughout history. In both good and bad ways. Besides, Sweden shares a closer tie to Denmark and Norway, in every aspect.

Just came from Norway back to Finland. It was great journey. Fishing in Norway is great. And I liked the landscape of the mountains and the open sea of the Lofots. I finally watched Max Manus last night. Outstanding and brilliant movie. I just wish it would've shown the Donau go kablooey. I hope Norway finally makes a movie soon about Asbjørn Sunde. @kozelFIN there is a difference in warfare, and you should know that. simo was locked in combat with the soviets in 1925 I think. this war went on in the mountains were finland had the upper hand since they knew the mountains. Its a different war with different battlegrounds. In norway they fought by making sabotage and they succeded when they made it impossible for the nazi soldiers to get out of norway when they we're needed on the east front. Norway did a hell of a good job.

Its easier to resist against such a foe, than it was resisting the Third Reich who had the BEST equipment, the BEST training, and the most skilled tacticians and officers of their time at their disposal. And dont forget that Norwegian volunteer soldiers fought in Finlands war aswell.

I like movies that tells us about the people who fought for their countries during the WW2. I'm from denmark and I have seen the danish movie "Flammen og Citronen" which also tells us the story of the two most wanted freedom fighters in denmark. I guess Max Manus and Flammen og Citronen is very much alike.

He says in the book that what kept Sweden from joining the German side in WW1...was seeing all the seriously wounded Russian and German POW's being exchanged thru Sweden's railroads.
In both WW1 and WW2 Sweden was supplying a lot of materials to Germany...mainly iron ore and dairy products.

Sweden, as Norway and Denmark, but mostly Denmark, have had complicated relations to Germany troughout history. In both good and bad ways. Although it would be wrong to speak of Germany, as this is a fairly "new" country. Germanic states, and later Germany would be more corect. Besides, Sweden shares a closer tie to Denmark and Norway, in every aspect.

Just came from Norway back to Finland. It was great journey. Fishing in Norway is great. And I liked the landscape of the mountains and the open sea of the Lofots. I finally watched Max Manus last night. Outstanding and brilliant movie. I just wish it would've shown the Donau go kablooey. I hope Norway finally makes a movie soon about Asbjørn Sunde. His Communist cell the Osvald Group had been responsible for more than 200 successful attacks on Nazi targets throughout Norway. Its about time he gets the credit he deserves.

The nazis took Norway so easely because the nazis promised so much bullshit, that people like quisling belived. Besides the smatrest soliders (who understood this), like max was in finland to save norway from russians, and the finnish. When Max came home he was so angry that norway was taken.... That he wanted it back! He did what no man thought was possible.. he sank Donau. So thats probably 800 confirmed kills+ when he was in finland.

@kozelFIN there is a difference in warfare, and you should know that. simo was locked in combat with the soviets in 1925 I think. this war went on in the mountains were finland had the upper hand since they knew the mountains. Its a different war with different battlegrounds. In norway they fought by making sabotage and they succeded when they made it impossible for the nazi soldiers to get out of norway when they we're needed on the east front. Norway did a hell of a good job.

@kozelFIN You gotta remember that Finland got invaded by the soviet union who had badly equipped men and poor weapons along with untrained officers and commanders. Its easier to resist against such a foe, than it was resisting the Third Reich who had the BEST equipment, the BEST training, and the most skilled tacticians and officers of their time at their disposal. And dont forget that Norwegian volunteer soldiers fought in Finlands war aswell.

@kozelFIN Easily occupied? Compare how long it took the Germans to take over little Norway compared to other countries such as France, Polan, Holland and so on. Norway was the heaviest occupied country during WWII, with 400 000 german soldiers. Compare Russians soldiers to German soldiers is like comparing Lada to Mercedes. Russian soldier beeing equiped with the poorest equipment and weapons. Besides, the atack upon Norway was the first combined air, sea and land atack in history.

I'm from denmark and I have seen the danish movie "Flammen og Citronen" which also tells us the story of the two most wanted freedom fighters in denmark. @Killerkalle06 The American Ambassador to Germany in WW1 was James Gerard and he wrote a book in 1917 called "my Four Years in Germany" that was a huge bestseller. (available at archive,org)
He says in the book that what kept Sweden from joining the German side in WW1...was seeing all the seriously wounded Russian and German POW's being exchanged thru Sweden's railroads.
In both WW1 and WW2 Sweden was supplying a lot of materials to Germany...mainly iron ore and dairy products.
