It's not as amazing as it appears...once you learn about a snakes behavior you simply work around it...for example notice how the guy goes into the snake from above, that's because he knows that cobras cannot physically strike upwards...notice when they want to make the snake strike they go in low and it strikes. also cobras will not strike as you move towards it only once you retreat or move back, notice how after kissing it he moves his head quickly to the side and not straight back...

Captive king cobras can be generally more tolerant than the wild ones.This is their culture.They have played snakes for numerous generations.

Yes, some died during their shows.The most noticeable case is a Thai snake charmer who was bitten by a medium-sized king cobra and died within a short time.

@fearingpredators All the Kings at these place are fresh-caught. They use them maximum a couple months. The most noticeable case was Luke Yeomans - king cobra expert, who was fatally bitten weeks ago. A boy died here during a show - same place you see in the video. The king was caught the previous day. No previous generations of snake handlers exist for any of the people that work at this place.

Most cobras in Thailand don't have their fangs removed, it costs a good bit of money to have it done and they just dont have it. The real secret behind the cobra kiss is that a cobra cannot strike upwards, only down when they are hooded like that. Making the touching of the head realitively safe.

@VinnyG253 the fangs are in the mouth. It's not because they can't afford to remove them, villagers just rip them out with pliers. There is no using a vet for the procedure here.

The King cobra's are used for the kiss of death quite commnly. There's a trick to the kiss and why most snake charmers do this without fear. THe King Cobra can only strike whats under its jaw, not to say its not dangerous, but there you go, kiss of death not so deadly.

Removal of the fangs and venom sacks is an ancient way of making money. Locals used to do it and then convince people that they, or their children had divine powers. Then people would bring them gifts and such as an offering etc. to get a blessing. People know this now locally. However, the tourists don't, so the locals still make money this way by putting on shows. But believe it or not, there ARE still places where they handle REAL venomous snakes. Some have died doing their shows.

This Cobra has it's fangs removed - It actually struck him in the beginning. If the snake had fangs, he would be dead in 10 -20 mins. At 0:36-0:39 you can clearly see no fangs in the strike, and when the snake's mouth is opened.

King Cobra fangs are not large... and I'm not sure whether this one has the fangs or not. I haven't been back there since filming this - will head back in next couple weeks, months and get the truth!

Good question- I think these are still poisonous - because I believe they can get money from milking the poison from the fangs... a lot of money. I could be wrong. They bite fast and I don't actually see fangs. I'm about 4 meters away here too - so, if it did or didn't have fangs - and poison - I'd not know. I'm heading back there soon - will ask the guy to show me the fangs...
