Great little kit there Grimbo ! I just noticed a comment where you said you were from Surrey .. Me too ...Wonder if we are close to eachother.. Would be awsome to bump into you out n about in the woods !
@wolfbushcraft Im near the Royal landscapes , Saville gardens area and that way .. To be fair though im not exactly sure where the South Downs start from this end hehe :) Guilford is not too far from me ..
Just another thought, in my kit I add a prank birthday candle. they are small, lightweight and when lit they won't blow out unless you dip them in water. they can be lit with a firesteel or a magnifying lens and on a windy day can really help you light a fire.
Brilliant kit, just a thought, If you drilled a hole in center of your cork float you could install a small container to house additional small hooks, weights, swivels or anything else you might need. the size of the hold should not comprimise the flotation or intigrety of the cork. I use the disposable foam ear plugs for my floats. they can be compressed, small, cheap, brightly colored and I can store three or four in a very small volume. keep up the good work.
Hi mate nice small kit. not to heavy aswel, well done, If you get a chance have a look at my M4 possibles pouch,a bit bigger but works well up here in Scotland.
The only think i can think of is to add a plastic bag into it to either hold water or to keep the contents of the cup togeather while you use the cup as a drinking cup. Also what was that cup? can you buy it like that or is it a food container with a new life?

i work in a hospital; ER environment; i have access to the good stitching and have like the 4's and 5's in my kit.... i have a suggestion tho. throw a sewing needle in the cork for the bility to stitch anything together with the fishing line if you need to;
brilliant bro i got a good setup on my belt i use a waistpack tho bought intsead of handmade gonna implement ur last resort kit cuz mine in my camping backpak is heavy as hell and with the cooking kit i think i can shave about 2 lbs off the pack........ good stuff right here.
@sealofwisdom when i was a kid we used a coke bottle with line attached quite hard to cast it but it works fine in a canal, caught loads of perch etc. hooked a jack pike once lol, didn't work so well, the line slipped off the bottle or something, if it was attached better it would have been fine.
Really valuable info and brilliant little kit. That cork fishing outfit is the cat's pajamas. Cork can also be lit blown out and used to apply the carbon to the face to cut glare from your cheeks in bright sun and snow covered days with lots of glare. Grimbo I'll buy you a pint if I ever get to meet you.
Couple of questions: Do you use the cork as a spool or is the idea to attach the line to something else then use the cork as a float? Myself Id have used the white container as a spool but thats just me J
I have myself in the past used a food can for cooking but Ive always seasoned the can before taking it into the woods I guess you dont?
Nicely thought out last ditch kit keeping in mind the KISS principle 5/5.
the line stays on the cork, the idea is to tie the line of by wrapping cork around a stick, thus leaving line out to do its job, while i would get on with other jobs, its survival not a fishing trip,so you must make things work for themselves...why do you need a float,a trigger snare would work if you need to catch fish on the bite,,would you really have time to watch a float?
Great idea. I dont know why i had got into such a stubborn minded idea about having my survival kit in a tin. The cooking tin works much better.
Ive been struggling to find a way to improve what you have there, except to add more fishing line around the outside of the white drinking cup to use as a spool for fishing.
great little kit, and yes we straight way made one for our selves. we have become huge fans of both you and your craft. thank you for the education. and i hope you take it as a compliment when we post are camp that we are trying to mimic of yours. your outdoor brothers, rob and chris.
no problem...dont forget what works for me may be different for you...look forward to your camp video,im going to be scouting out another camp site soon.this will involve another type of shelter..
The tinder pouch, and using the pot as a case for everything are great ideas. Good point about knowing and using the items in the kit. Thanks for sharing. Awesome 5 star Video.
Cork! Too many forget how awesome cork is.
Bonus use: Burn it slightly, makes great night face camo.

slip in a piece of hack saw blade, you might even sharpen the non-saw side a bit.

Great video and set up. I'm thinking of begining to put together my first tin and had intended using a tobacco tin but your idea is much better.
I like that on your set up you can drink/cook by taking the tub out, fast and practical.
