  • Tennessee Volunteer here... the Script Ohio is incredible!

  • one question..What is the red thing tucked under the epaulet of the uniform?

  • It's a beret, they wear them in place of the military style hats while playing in the stands during the game.

  • You know, I am a die-hard corps style marching guy..(I haved been involved with DCI World Class for 20 years now..), But I must say that the OSUMB is really cool to watch. DCI corps are about innovation and pushing the envelope, whist this band is about tradition and entertaining ithe OSU faithful.

What they do is still very physically demanding and is very precise. I tip my hat to them on their old school excellence.

  • Spats are saved for the game, I guess?

  • lol this is why they're called the best damn band in the land; they're even amazing in rehearsals!

  • What happened to all the open space? Is there any left on campus?

  • i love the song they play at the end when the team would be getting ready to come out on the field. anyone know the name of it or where i can get an mp3?

  • Fanfare for a new era or the new era fanfare

  • Personally I prefer the kevlar snares most of the time, but for OSU (imho) it's just like the fact that they use traditinal baritones. It's holding on to tradition, and that's what makes them the best damn band in the land. They just wouldn't be themselves with anything else.

  • Yeah your right

  • Need to invest in some new up dated snars. Not saying any thing sounds bad its really good But some newer snars what make it sound more Sharp

  • Hey I think those snares sound way better than the kevlar head snares that don't even sound like snares. they sound like you're hitting concrete with a drum stick

  • the old snares sound too messy when you get far away (aka marching band). thats why the kevlar heads allow for such tension, so it sounds like a real snare from the stands. the old style sounds like a box of rocks in the stands.

  • @timbohoagie do you live to troll? i've seen you on like 5 videos saying how the snares sound messy, it's not called the best damn band in the land for no reason?

  • @TheOsuMB No. I just know what I (and the majority of the percussion world) like to hear. If you don't like it, give me a valid reason why it's a good thing (besides your self-coined nickname)

  • @timbohoagie it's all about tradition, if you listen to the band live it's completely together and i didnt "coin the nickname" overtime it was given.

  • @TheOsuMB Trust me, it's not together. I'm not dissing the tradition, I'm dissing the fans who says it's all about tradition, and that anything new is not good. I like TBDBITL, and work with a Director who graduated from OSU. All my previous post was saying is that Kevlar heads were created for a reason. Plus, I hear the new Percussion Instructor at OSU is working his way towards the modern era.

  • @timbohoagie I'm not saying anything new is not good but I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong, in another video you commented about how the types of snares they use suck because they're side mounted. It's a military style band, that's what they do. It also tries to go with the old snare sound not like the modern everyday highschool crank the drum till you break it.

  • don't they normally wear spats?

  • Yeah, but spats are put on right before they march over to the stadium, this is just a game day rehearsal around 3 hours before pregame
