Your argument will not hold water if Obama grants amnesty. The Department of Labor will not stand for laborers being paid substandard wages and those who think they're getting cheap labor will have to pay prevailing wages, and that subsequently undermines the American labor force. Look up the vids here that encourage illegals to report employers. Would I be willing to pay a little more money for fruit and vegtables in order to curb illegal immigration? You bet I would.

Another question. Why not change that law so that if someone commits a violent crime (i don't mean speeding, i mean murder, etc.) that an ICE check is run. If they are found to THEN have committed another violent offense in the past 364 days, they get DEPORTED. ASAP! That sounds fair. The violent ones, go back. The gentle ones (lol) can stay.

Good point and my point exactly. If we just enforced the current immigration laws and really lowered the boom on employers who hire them then they would self deport. What many do not know, is that the feds are encouraging illegals to contact the labor department if they are being paid sub-standard wages. Employers may be forced to give them prevailing wages and that would probably stop them from hiring illegals. AZ adopted tough employer sanctions and many have split.

To say that American, white citizens won't work in fields is absurd, because I've done it before and so has my WHITE mother. Tomatoes, cucumbers, apricots, lettuce, all picked. I also know other white folks-most older than myself-who did that as well. So keep saying white Americans are too lazy to do what they would have others do. BTW, there are many many minorities who wouldn't be caught dead getting their hands dirty like that, even illegals. When you can suck off the system, who would?

It's just that I've never seen it and am willing to acknowledge that farm laborers in CA are almost entirely foreign born. I haven't said they won't. I've said, in my limited experience, they don't.

Your argument will not hold water if Obama grants amnesty. The Department of Labor will not stand for laborers being paid substandard wages and those who think they're getting cheap labor will have to pay prevailing wages, and that subsequently undermines the American labor force. Look up the vids here that encourage illegals to report employers. Would I be willing to pay a little more money for fruit and vegtables in order to curb illegal immigration? You bet I would.

i was only addressing farm workers as was the issue ...the percentage you use is questionable but the agriculture industries has many layers to it and they all have undocumented workers that include restaurants, cafeterias maids,drivers,landscape,laundry mats,dish washers

Another question. Why not change that law so that if someone commits a violent crime (i don't mean speeding, i mean murder, etc.) that an ICE check is run. If they are found to THEN have committed another violent offense in the past 364 days, they get DEPORTED. ASAP! That sounds fair. The violent ones, go back. The gentle ones (lol) can stay.

Good point and my point exactly. If we just enforced the current immigration laws and really lowered the boom on employers who hire them then they would self deport. What many do not know, is that the feds are encouraging illegals to contact the labor department if they are being paid sub-standard wages. Employers may be forced to give them prevailing wages and that would probably stop them from hiring illegals. AZ adopted tough employer sanctions and many have split.
