Listening to this on a computer or radio really does not do justice to hearing this live. I can understand why people don't like this if they've never seen a real live show by Béla Fleck.
I was listening to this track, when an ad for Justin Beiber popped up on my browser. He must have a deathwish for ruining the best eight minutes of my life.
This tune is probably my favorite Flecktones tune. Many may not agree, but I think this is some of Wooten's best bass playing. I own several solo albums of his, including A Show of Hands. I can't tell you how many hours I've practiced some of those tunes on that album. It's an incredible piece of work no doubt, but I always liked his work with Bela Fleck more. His fretless bass playing is great on here, and I love the fact that he quoted a lil Jaco in here. It just felt so right. Excellent band.
@photolitherland I would have told him to turn it off too... Just because they dont like this joint doesnt mean they listen to beaver or keshas shitty music...Im a hip hop head from the 90s and I listen to all sorts of jazz and soul... but this isnt very good...just my opinion obviously but I dont think its all that good... no hate... just letting you know that not everyone who dislikes this is into shitty music...
@HegartyCounty Im entitled to my opinion... if you have a problem with that then you should have responded with some kind of intelligence... not speak about whats been on your mind all day... so FUCK OFF!!!
@RockerBug17 Who's Kenny G? I listen to Ahmad Jamal, Bernard Purdie, Lonnie Liston Smith, Dave Brubeck, Adrian Younge, and James Brown funky type shit
This song brings back great memories. Back when I was fourteen years old, my best friend and I would listen to this song while driding around in the countryside. After that, my life fell apart when I began using drugs and then nearly overdosed about once per week. It once meant so much to me, then all my feelings of joy for anything and my memory vanished and I became an asshole.
Now that I'm clean, It's great to hear this song again, this time without throwing my headphones at the screen.
Doesn[t sound like much of a friend to me if they refer to this genius as elevator music. Not that there is anything wrong with elevator music. I like it.
@AkagenoAdol similar story: I love DMB and my friend hates DMB. So to show me a measurment of his hate he decide to eject a CD of theirs and throw it out of my car window at a stop light. After I realized what he did I got out of the car, not thinking to put it in park, walked around it, yanked him out and told him to go find it. I then proceeded to leave him in the grassy field to look for my CD. He walked home WITH my CD. I don't get mad easily but when I do... oh boy
This may be the most beautiful melody I've ever heard. The song is just so genius in so many ways. It's been a year since I first heard it, and I still can't believe what an incredible song it is.
I've heard a lot of music in my day, and this song is very likely my favorite. Ever. I'm not exaggerating - above every Bach piece (and I love Bach), every Tchaikovsky piece (same deal), even above Renaud Garcia-Fons, who plays the music of my soul. This song just comes out on top.
@HempForPresident sweet. i bet he would be nice. How could anyone be even slightly angry after playing and listening to this amazing music over and over!
I completely agree, there music has such emotion in it, every time I listen to any of their song I just am filled with so many wonderful emotions. I wish more people could experience it..
@arteycarguy man i know this music hits me right in the heart no matter how many times you listen to it. I especially "love step quiet by bela fleck" for the ridiculous feelings it generates
@Draxor99 its much like the issue, well...my issue with hip hip today. we have lil waynes and souja boys making millions off of "music" thats not written by them, or musical in any way, while truly talented underground hip hop artists starve.
@freddybower25 It's true, but it's almost better that way. You share this music with the people you know, and it spreads as far as that, but to meet people who know those select artists that are "underground" and amazing is a special thing. It almost makes this music better then it is for it to be lesser known.
Now if only that meant they got the respect they deserve, heh.

The melody from Bela Fleck's "Big Country" is actually from the old Scottish song "Loch Lomond".
