I recently made my own best of Fuzzy Warbles album, was a very hard job as there are many great songs over the 8 cds. Anyways, Blue Beret kicked off the cd, I think it may be my favourite XTC song and it's a huge shame they never recorded it for Oranges and Lemons.
You're right, and thankfully Joe can come out with a record every now and then. I've about given up on Partridge.
Come on Andy, how bout tossing your salivating fans a bone!? Nothing against Warbles and Monstrance(loved em both) but your loooooong suffering fans need some meat!!
I don't know how old (or from where) the statement is, but he did say that he planned on releasing a studio album. Here's one statement about it (from Andy):
"I'm going to throw myself into writing and recording a whole mountain of new songs but I doubt, because of complex legal reasons, it will be under the name XTC. Seeing that Colin is on holiday/resting/quitting music/or just plain tuckered out, it wont be XTC without him. Lets be honest, it was a darn sight less XTC without Dave, and some even argue that case for Terry or Barry. I would still like to use the name XTC as I spent 31 years making it a reliable brand, but I cant see it working..."
@terminalmf My tranny went out in my truck. I've been borrowing my mom's Mercedes (ya big bummer) I pulled out Mummer and its been my staple CD while driving to workl @ 5:15 in the am. After 5/6 days and with my eyes closed I pulled I'm The Man from my CD collection. Haven't heard Joe in years. BTW I want a Jules Verne album. I missed out on that one.
@lcacwelder Wow. Sorry to hear about your truck, but what a perfect re-introduction (I'm assuming, or had you never heard it before?) and my what a glorious time of day to listen to that album - definitely wee-hours fare! Joe and Andy are both stunningly talented artists and I wish their output was a little more prolific these days (I love the Warbles collection and Joe's been putting new stuff out every few years, but Andy has fallen off almost completely, though understandably so).
Chords and chord changes like you've not heard since 10cc / Godley & Creme, people.

It's hard to deny Andy's assertion that MTV instigated "MTV Unplugged" after this.

I stand corrected. Hope he's serious.
The world could use some of his magic about now.
