  • there are more rare earths in the devices in europe than in all mines on the planet taken together. it just needs another view. why digging out stuff which is already there? start to recycle instead of digging. In europe we're throwing away 40,000 tons of this precious material every year. Typical capitalist system. Insane and absurd.

  • yea that sucks... but you know what else sucks... how the diamond companies stock pile 90% of the diamonds they find and just hold them in storage to jack up the price of the diamond... these are all known. and is just a further reason why money/diamonds/and any other "expensive" item is ultimately worthless... governments put prices on things.. that shouldn't cost anything. money shouldn't be the main concern... Human life should

  • @YouFakeTrick diamonds, gold, silver, they;re ultimately worthless to the average person, they're trinkets. Production capability is the real wealth.

  • @AlternateArtisan but does their really need to be the influence of money? Why can't the main influence just be... because it's for the best for everyone? But i do understand where your coming from. Technically speaking we don't need money to influence us.. but they've made it to where if ya aint got money ya aint got much of anything... there can be furthering of a species without money. Do you know what I am saying?

  • Its just Demand and supply issue. China has the rights to keep its rare earth. Well if you can't pay for it you can't buy it.

  • If demand outstrips supply, the likes of Lynas will boom in value

  • china!!

Strong china has never took cared of other small or poor country but expended its power to conquer them. If I am a politician, I never let any import from china.

  • @zvzvzvzo: Absolutely right. And don't open a company in China because those money-grubbing xenophobes will COPY and STEAL your patents and drive you out of business. That's precisely how they're getting rich: COPY - MASS PRODUCE WITH SLAVE LABOR - SELL TO POOR & DUMB CONSUMERS.

  • @Armando2012102 What are slave labors? Fool.

  • Right now, the rest of the world is absolutely dependent on China's exports of these metals. Without these Chinese exports, the western world would quickly run out of these precious resources. But in just a few years, the rapidly expanding Chinese economy will gobble up the entire domestic production of Chinese rare earth elements. So what will the rest of the world do at that point? . They will look to companies like LYNAS CORPORATION (LYC.AX) and ARAFURA RESOURCES (ARU.AX)

  • @Tarmacdaddy1 agree - both stocks are doing really well and will continue to do well

  • China holds 95%percent of the worlds supply, there is no way you could use up china's rare earths, china is regulating there rare earths industry and limiting there export quotas in order to push up prices!! Basket prices for rare earhs has more than doubled in the past year!!! Non chinese manufactuers are scrambling to find a steady and reliable source of these elements...The chinese want these for themselves so that they can be market leaders in green technology, cars,tv's,computers etc

  • agreed that all open up their rare earth mine and then china open up too. just like US suspend their off shore oil drilling same tactic.

  • US sealed its own rare earth mines, as did Japan and Australia... so that they can use up China's first !!

  • @AzerChristians ..by that time they probably transport them from another planet heheh

  • @AzerChristians Actually... China went around the world, buying up the rights to rare earth minerals from less developed countries all over the planet. And now they are holding them tightly.
