  • My family and I live in Louisiana. I have an Aunt who moved to Colorado 10 years ago. She will come home to visit for a week and at first she has a strong northern accent but by the time she leaves, she sounds like we all do! We are creatures of habit and adapt to our surroundings quickly!! LOL

    P.S. "Mama's Family" rocks!!! hahha

  • i have a huge accent, i totally understand what you mean when you say different accents for different people, i am from Texas

  • She's right. But when I was a bouncer in Southern california, people would put on an accent when they heard where I was from. (I'm an okie with no accent.).

The southern accent is part of america. A southern accent shouldn't be lamented. It would be admirable in mark twain.

  • It is not possible to have no accent. What you call "no accent" is just the accent that most people have.

  • i totaly understand how with people you speak in a accent around my dads side (live in the deep south) i speak with a strong southern drawl and same with my parents but with other people i dont have a accent except on some words

  • this is good practice. im doing a scene where i need to imitate a southern drawl. we'll how this goes...

  • lol nice ending

  • Yeah me too. I have to learn one in about 2 weeks. And I have so much dialogue in the play, I think Im going to die.

  • hey what show is the 'good example' part from? this sounds silly but i have to learn a southern accent.

  • the show is called "Mama's Family"

just curious, why do you need to learn a southern accent? a play or something?

Anyways, "Mama's Family" is probably a good way to learn, plus it's funny :o)

  • both examples are ott but one works and one doesn't.

  • thanks for this video my japanese friends always ask me about american dialects so I show'd one your video as a kinda of instructional how to lol I was wondering if you could do a general one to include boston, nyc, lousianan, north carolinan ect

  • cool, never thought that someone would use this to show someone else an American dialect. That's cool :D. Right now I am busy with work, but I will try. If I get something together I'll send you a message. I'll do it in exchange for some japanese lessons (do you speak it?) :o).

    Thanks again

  • Hey is it too late to send in a video?

  • Hi, no its not too late :). There's no time limit on this one. I'm just accepting as they occur :o)

  • Hey cool. I love Mama's Family !

  • Me too, it's one of my favorite shows :o).
