@HISTORYOFTHE12 actually i heard that the name puerto rico was a mistake...that the spaniards claimed the land as San Juan (just like DR used to be Santo Domingo) but that the Kind or Queen of spain had mistakenly called it Puerto Rico and so they decided to change the name instead of correcting the king/queen...and that the original name of the capital san juan was puerto rico since it was a major port 4 them and thats how the king/queen got it mixed up...idk if it's 100% true or not

The original name was Borikén which is where the word Boricua originated. More Puerto Ricans are less and less educated on our culture and history but the part about Israelites I cant believe. I havent found any records proving that statement. As for Christopher knowing there would be Israelites, thats impossible since he didnt even know America let alone Puerto Rico existed when he first set off on that trip.
