its just a dyno figure. there are ways of verifying the horsepower with a few road tests... you need to know the exact weight of the car and have a straight, level, low-altitude road to test on. jacobs sells the book but i can't remember the name. you'll prolly end up with a real world figure that may disapoint you, (i did) but its reality....
MrEasyCash: what does 'the usual triples' mean?? if you have managed to come up with a triple carb setup for a 4-cylinder motor, why don't you share it with the rest of us? a gearhead you're not.
imakeithappen510: so you have a stock L18 and you bored it 2 millimeters and now it makes 240hp?? U R SOOOOO FULL OF SHIT!!. a Z22 crank or rods won't even fit in an L18 block....so what is it you have thats Z22 besides the pistons/rings?? MANY love 510s but FEW know what the fuck they are talking about....
wow, i did a viscous LSD R200 (3.700) for a friend's '73 510 and the whole upgrade cost about 700 including diff, new U-joints, materials, and the special lube nissan sells. this was about 10 years ago. he has a former NPTI VG30 in there and the rear-end has held up fine so far. next project sedan has an open R180 4.111 diff in it. needs an LSD and the hitachi nissan ones are r-e-a-l pricey....but don't feel like experimenting. cha-ching!

@odd1sh I think he was more just referring to the fact that the motor should be making more than that. That is more than enough power for the Car for sure, but not that much for an SR20DET motor in general. Still, its an awesome car.

I had a '71 2-door w/ a built 1800 SSS & 260z 5-speed. We got an estimated 175hp out of it and that was not RWP like this car. My car was damn quick due to it light weight. I could only imagine what almost twice the brake HP would be like. The power to weight ratio must be insane. Good job on your car. Hope you have a lot of money saved up for rear tires.
Cant wait to finish mine. I got a lz 2.2 under the hood right now. Was my first car, now she sits in the shop getting only pulled out for the summer months lol. Ill never get rid of her, and once the motor goes im getting my sr :)
haha umm well mine looked like complete shit when I bought it and I paid $2,500 for it. I'm on the east coast though, they are hard to come by around here. Heard they were a little cheaper on the west coast, but I don't think you're going to find one really "cheap". Craigslist usually has a few though.
The wheels are Rota RB-R 17 x 8.5 +4 offset and i have 1" adapters all the way around. I have 16" Rotas on the front now. I will post more videos soon
Hey man nice car. I'm in the middle of a SR20 swap into my 72' 510. It's gonna look A LOT like your's when it's done. I had to put flares on it because someone cut the rears off. My engine bay is black. I've got a S13 Redtop. And I'm planning on painting it pepper white, the mini cooper color. Really nice car you have. Could you tell me the wheel size? I'm wanting something that will fill out my fenders good.
Check out those Brand New D100 taillights they are selling on Ebay, they rock!! I wish I could get Clear front lenses too, any clue where can I find them?
The set up cost me about $2500.00 + many many many hours of testing different things that could work. The diff is from a 2008 STi 3.54 ratio. The inner axle joints are from a 2004 STi and outer joints are from a WRX. I had modified the outer joints and welded the old Datsun axle flange to it. The axle shafts are chromoly and made from scratch with the specs i sent them. After blowing up many WRX diffs and axles i settled with this setup which has been bullet proof so far ( knock on wood )
17 x 8.5 Rota RB-R's with 255 40's all the way around. I am going to change to 16 x 8 for the front so i can increase my steering angle and not have to worry about rubbing. The rears i am going to send out to have widened to 10.5 and will be running 295 or 315 rears.
The wheels are Rota RB-R's 17 x 8.5 +4 and the tires are Federal 595RS 255 40 17. I also have some 1" wheel spacers to get the offset more aggressive.

If the car has an independent rear suspension and is rwd then it has cv joints

not for this car. It had independent suspension, so the differential is fixed to the frame and Constant Velocity joints go to the wheels.

Transmission is the stocker from the S13 the swap came with, and it is put down through the 2008 Subaru STi r180 rear diff.
