I haven't played too many games that have extravagent cut scenes and most of the ones I have seen are with the FF series. In recent memory, IMO the best cut scene in the game, and my favorite so far in any game. In FFXIII, when Lightning and Hope are first noticed in Palumpolum and then Snow and Fang just blow a hole in the wall and start wrecking house. Great music, very dramatic, and a good scene for the "good guys."

Not to mention they put a prince in the movie who has an annoying personality, unlike the one in the game, and sometimes he has no personality at all, an uninspired story and charcters with blank personalities, seriously Prince of Persia deserved better.

yeah like other people have suggested, if you do another video like this, make sure to check out Devil May Cry 3 and 4 cutscenes, especially 4, it has such good emotion :)
Was randomly searching for old cutscenes and stumbled across your video. You've got a good bunch there of which the majority I havn't played :(. I'm going to have to play Silent Hill 2 sometime as I keep hearing it's the best of the bunch but I don't know I've only played the 1st :) I was wondering what your opinion on what the best would be!

You should check out some of the Devil may Cry 3 or 4 cut-scenes, you'll probably love them. First time I watched them I was amazed and I immediately bought the game, sadly DMC 5 doesn't look that promising. Nice Channel btw, subbed =]

I still remember when I play that game when I was like 15? that cutscene scared shit out of me and absolutely memorable. that simple soundtrack in that cutscene too, that melody still haunting me :/
I like cutscenes, but they are a b**** for the devs, especially if they can't afford motion capture, as character movement in cutscenes generally deviates from that used in gameplay
Final fantasy x is the worst in the series is was not very good poor story bad characters blitzball was just sucked and the annoying battle system between 9 and 10 was the decaying demise of the final fantasy series Uncharted was overated game plus you forgotten three of the best game cut scenes ever the the ending of ff7 the death of aries at the end of disk one and the cut scene i ff8 at the start of the game between seifer and squall those are the pinnacle of cut scenes.
About yorito nagai's ending in forbidden siren 2 (I never beat that game, but it's on my 'to revisit' list.) In siren 1, Kyoya Suda faces the same fate. there are even bonus levels in siren 2 where you play as him fighting shibito's for all eternity....
@LPN00b Yup, when you finish the game the 00:00:00 day/time sot is opened in which Kyoya Suda returns and its totally awesome!! When you replay the game, keep an eye out for other pick ups too, FS2 constantly links back to characters in FS1 ;)
@Kawaiiprincess01 Yes, I've noticed how the old military officer (forgot his name), picked up the little girl (Harumi, I think) of FS1. I really loved the first game, it was so hard and long, it felt like you achieved nothing throughout the whole game. Then, when you finally do something stupid like, set a little wooden bridge on fire, I'd be ectatic.
I though FS2 empowers the player a lot more. You get guns and you get to blow stuff up a lot quicker iirc. I loved the failed policeman.
I've never played Forbidden Siren games (I'm American anyways, so I can't even get 2), but is it normal for the Yambito(Spelling?) to look that scared? It's an alternate universe/dimension, then maybe they can actually die in that one? (If the fear isn't normal it might suggest that.)

im sorry but Blitzsball Beginnings is not the best cutscene in FFX, in my opinion one of 3 of the cutscenes in that game are Lulu and Wakka are talking, when Yuna gets her first summon when Kimahri catches her, and The Summoning
@Kazesai Indeed, princess mentioned that it gives a good feel for the music style of the game, I don't think it does at all. Though the music of FFX was pretty good, this cutscene doesn't represent it at all.

Well although I'm a bit to old for that, I would suggest the Cutscene where Sasuke meets his Brother Itachi in Naruto Shippuuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 for the last Fight. It's a great Scene, but most of all it's the Story they share,which made this event "EPIC". And definitly No.1 would be... The Death of Lisa in Silent hill 1. where Harry pushed her against a wall and she... trembling towards him blood runs down her face, begging for help. Harry left the room and his last words are "Lisa..."

@SuperDenizen Yes! That opening was outstanding! Although I think Kawaiiprincess may be too young to remember LOK: Soul Reaver, it is over 12 years old. Kurt Harland's score for that was epic too.
my favorite video game for cut scenes is halo wars, that game has the best cut scenes ever they have a really huge cinematic feel to them which is what makes them so realistic. Also I really like Dead space 2 because it actually doesn't have any cut scenes instead it has moments where the game will take control of Issac but it will still have that 3rd person over the shoulder view and it feels like a cut scene.
Joe & Eddie's drunken duo....Mafia II is one of those games that even though it has missions that are just go from point A to poin B, keeps you hooked with momments like this xD Dunno if there's something wrong with me but I constantly replay this mission just for Joe & Eddie's momment.
Hurry back Hurry Back... I loved that part in that game, After getting rid of some trash ha ha ha ha. Kinda reminds me of high school prom and my friends lol.

the Blitzball cutscene is all good as far as ff 10 is concerned, but personally i absolutely LOVED that scene on the water with that awesome music when Yuna performs her first sending ceremony,lol. that scene to me among other things,even until today really epitomized the power of PS2 at that time.
Well ONE of my favorites has to be the ending to Devil May Cry 3.It's so badass,so epic,so DMC.The ending of God of War 2 was one of the most infuriating cliff hangers in gaming history,but it was a great way to leave the story.The fight between Raizen and Vamp was beautiful in Metal Gear solid 4.The ending of The Legend of Zelda is a classic childhood memory as is the ending of Kingdom Hearts 2.The ending of Assassin's Creed 2 is one THE BEST cliffhangers in game history.
One of my favorite scenes would be ending B (thought really all the endings are great) on a game called Drakengard. It's a really underrated game, so I would be pleasantry surprised if you'd heard of it.

As a couple of other people have said as well, one of my favorites is Mass Effect 2, when you go through the Omega 4 Relay :) That and any cutscene that involves an Italian man in overalls blowing up a pixelated castle.
I think that my favorite video game cutscene has to be the ending of Final Fantasy X. It was so tragic and heartwrenching. It killed me a little inside.
Silent hill Maria in Cell is one of the best scenes in the history of video games even in today standards it stands out as one of the best cutscenes ever made

well i do agree with you there in a sense.cut-scenes work best in rpg's or fighting games i must say,but cut scenes work for all genres i feel,cut-scenes are a part of video games.alot of cut scenes are epic and memorable and make you love the game even more.sometimes cut-scenes are what you remember from games the most.
One of my favorate game cut scenes i would have to say is metal gear solid 3 snake eater's ending, its a really gripping scene and sums up the entire game unlike any other game of that time. the scene the animations and the music all compare to that of a hollywood blockbuster and really gives the player the satasfaction of completing a game! i am a big metal gear fan and metal gear solid 4 is probally one of the best games ever made. great video! keep making more! :)
the music you used for silent hill 2 gives me the chills (messed up English ), i didn't play silent hill 2 and 3 yet so i will defiantly give them a shot, and the scene from FFX , just because of this scene i played the game and finished it after 5 years
The drink driving scene is probably my favourite scene in Mafia II although the game has a bunch of good ones overall but it made me laugh. One of the scenes I love in a game is the ending of Klonoa because I find it quite sad in a way because of what has to happen and its one of the few games that has made me cry and not ashamed to say that. Hard to pinpoint scenes because there is quite a few I like.
Great job, final fantasy x had an opening that really stuck with me as well. Have you played the beginning of mass effect 2? If not I highly recommend giving it a go also.

oooh i gotta say the cut scenes in WoW Cataclysm is quite awesome because there were never any before. I love cut scenes when in moderation. I LOVE THE CUT scenes from FF. They rock my socks!
While cut scenes are great and add a ton to a gam I think developers at times forget they are supposed to be making a great game with cut scenes. Instead of a sub par game with amazing cut scenes. You chose some great games with great cut scenes.
Great idea dude, nice selections as wlel :) I loved the drunk driving in mafia 2 lol that game is fantastic, the acting is spot on and its very well written. I think a good cut scene can make a game more enjoyable, when i play the uncharted games i always watch all the cut scenes no matter how many times i play through them because are such good quality :)
FFX is a masterpiece. I loved every minute of it. My favorite scene is when Tidus and Yuna kiss. Some of my other favs are Yuna dancing on the water, the group trying to stop the wedding, and of course the ending. I just wish the game was properly translated. There's a lot of changes in the English release that I don't like. Like how Yuna doesn't really say "I love you" but instead says "Arigato (Thank you)" at the end. Still a fantastic game though.

Probably my favorite cutscene was Leon S. Kenedys B Scenario where he says 'Its up to us to take out Umbrella!' The ending for Final Fantasy VIII almost made my cry. I loved Helenas ending in Dead or Alive 4 where you think she died and the credits roll with scenes from the other characters endings. When its almost over, Zack swoops in and saves her. I wasnt sure how to feel about it when I thought she was dead cause she was kind of a bitch in that game, but I'm glad she made it

Yakuza 3 was my first Yakuza game, and I was a diehard fan of the series in 20 seconds after starting the game. Too bad that I'm not gonna get my hands on Yakuza: Kenzan! -spinoff. Luckily, Yakuza: Of The End -zombie spinoff will be available for me too! Yakuza 4 as well, this time western version will have hostess clubs as well^^

@893kiryu When I bought Yakuza 3, it was like a zillion games rounded in one. And quite apparently, Kenzan!, Of The End and Yakuza 4 all go by the same idea. Also, if you could switch between Okinawa and Tokyo in Yakuza 4 as could do in Yakuza 3 that would be sweet.
Let alone the possibility of seeing zombie-infested downdown Ryukyu in the Okinawa. Hehee :D
One of my favorites has got to be the beginning of Shenmue, its quite powerful.
From recent memory I loved a fair bit of the cut-scenes in Darksiders but I can't think of a specific one from the top of my head but i loved watching the relationship between War and The Watcher, plus the voices are just flat out awesome ;)
My favorite is in House of the dead overkill, Clement climbs inside the giant demon/Mother's massive Vagina. I'm not making this up it happened in it. Classic.
Great video and good list. I love love love cut scenes as the narrative within a video game is imperative to me. Personal favs (as an overall) would be Red Dead, MGS4, and Uncharted . One that does stcik in my head though from being about 13 years old and putting on Devil May Cry 1 and seeing the opening scene blew me away.
Another great example of re-occuring themes of music in cutscenes would be in the Warcraft Franchise. The end of Warcraft III has the hero Arthas fully corrupting and becoming the LIch King (OW02BWFRnkw), and the expansion Wrath of the Lich King cinematic starts with the Lich King being unfrozen (95vcgv-pK_4) notice the same theme.

Personaly, I am struck more by cutscenes involving sadness between characters (especially ones romanticaly involved). And example would be MGS when Meryl gets shot (ZvYlPVHo84g). Though what I think truely drives a cutscene like this is the music and use of re-occuring themes that resemble characters but are changed slightly to suit the scenario. Hard to go into detail on it with a small paragraph like this.
Is nice to see something new, this is the first time i see a top cut scenes list, Silent hill is my favorite survival horror game of all time, i just love it.
My favorite cutscenes would be the MGS4 beauty and the beast intro, Mass Effect 1 the battle against sovereign, Mass Effect 2 entering the omega 4 relay (with full ship upgrades) just to name a few............

My best cutscene is without a doubt the ballroom dance from final fantasy 8 it tells so much about the main characters and is just amazing, it's on YouTube watch it with the sound :)
My favorite cut scene in a game is at the end of final fantasy crisis core, it was so good and sad, and it just had an effect on me that no other cut scene has.
Great choices! I know I LOVE the ending of Uncharted 2, And yeah the impact or Yorito Ngai's ending for siren blew me away I was gutted for the poor guy...I also was REALLY worried about how long his ammo and his mind were going to hold out! Another great vid and a great idea!

my favorite video game for cut scenes is halo wars, that game has the best cut scenes ever they have a really huge cinematic feel to them which is what makes them so realistic. Also I really like Dead space 2 because it actually doesn't have any cut scenes instead it has moments where the game will take control of Issac but it will still have that 3rd person over the shoulder view and it feels like a cut scene.

Joe & Eddie's drunken duo....Mafia II is one of those games that even though it has missions that are just go from point A to poin B, keeps you hooked with momments like this xD Dunno if there's something wrong with me but I constantly replay this mission just for Joe & Eddie's momment.

the Blitzball cutscene is all good as far as ff 10 is concerned, but personally i absolutely LOVED that scene on the water with that awesome music when Yuna performs her first sending ceremony,lol. that scene to me among other things,even until today really epitomized the power of PS2 at that time.

Well ONE of my favorites has to be the ending to Devil May Cry 3.It's so badass,so epic,so DMC.The ending of God of War 2 was one of the most infuriating cliff hangers in gaming history,but it was a great way to leave the story.The fight between Raizen and Vamp was beautiful in Metal Gear solid 4.The ending of The Legend of Zelda is a classic childhood memory as is the ending of Kingdom Hearts 2.The ending of Assassin's Creed 2 is one THE BEST cliffhangers in game history.

One of my favorite scenes would be ending B (thought really all the endings are great) on a game called Drakengard. It's a really underrated game, so I would be pleasantry surprised if you'd heard of it.

As a couple of other people have said as well, one of my favorites is Mass Effect 2, when you go through the Omega 4 Relay :) That and any cutscene that involves an Italian man in overalls blowing up a pixelated castle.

well i do agree with you there in a sense.cut-scenes work best in rpg's or fighting games i must say,but cut scenes work for all genres i feel,cut-scenes are a part of video games.alot of cut scenes are epic and memorable and make you love the game even more.sometimes cut-scenes are what you remember from games the most.

One of my favorate game cut scenes i would have to say is metal gear solid 3 snake eater's ending, its a really gripping scene and sums up the entire game unlike any other game of that time. the scene the animations and the music all compare to that of a hollywood blockbuster and really gives the player the satasfaction of completing a game! i am a big metal gear fan and metal gear solid 4 is probally one of the best games ever made. great video! keep making more! :)

the music you used for silent hill 2 gives me the chills (messed up English ), i didn't play silent hill 2 and 3 yet so i will defiantly give them a shot, and the scene from FFX , just because of this scene i played the game and finished it after 5 years

The drink driving scene is probably my favourite scene in Mafia II although the game has a bunch of good ones overall but it made me laugh. One of the scenes I love in a game is the ending of Klonoa because I find it quite sad in a way because of what has to happen and its one of the few games that has made me cry and not ashamed to say that. Hard to pinpoint scenes because there is quite a few I like.

oh also the ending to all assassins creed games even though cliffhangers frustrate me but it kept me want more so that is good.

God of War 3 cutscenes were pretty epic too... I also liked those in Uncharted 2 !
there's also this cutscene in FFIV crisis core ! when genesis, sethiroth and angeal are having that fight on the junon cannon that was so epic !!

While cut scenes are great and add a ton to a gam I think developers at times forget they are supposed to be making a great game with cut scenes. Instead of a sub par game with amazing cut scenes. You chose some great games with great cut scenes.

Great idea dude, nice selections as wlel :) I loved the drunk driving in mafia 2 lol that game is fantastic, the acting is spot on and its very well written. I think a good cut scene can make a game more enjoyable, when i play the uncharted games i always watch all the cut scenes no matter how many times i play through them because are such good quality :)

FFX is a masterpiece. I loved every minute of it. My favorite scene is when Tidus and Yuna kiss. Some of my other favs are Yuna dancing on the water, the group trying to stop the wedding, and of course the ending. I just wish the game was properly translated. There's a lot of changes in the English release that I don't like. Like how Yuna doesn't really say "I love you" but instead says "Arigato (Thank you)" at the end. Still a fantastic game though.

Probably my favorite cutscene was Leon S. Kenedys B Scenario where he says 'Its up to us to take out Umbrella!' The ending for Final Fantasy VIII almost made my cry. I loved Helenas ending in Dead or Alive 4 where you think she died and the credits roll with scenes from the other characters endings. When its almost over, Zack swoops in and saves her. I wasnt sure how to feel about it when I thought she was dead cause she was kind of a bitch in that game, but I'm glad she made it

Yakuza 3 was my first Yakuza game, and I was a diehard fan of the series in 20 seconds after starting the game. Too bad that I'm not gonna get my hands on Yakuza: Kenzan! -spinoff. Luckily, Yakuza: Of The End -zombie spinoff will be available for me too! Yakuza 4 as well, this time western version will have hostess clubs as well^^

@893kiryu When I bought Yakuza 3, it was like a zillion games rounded in one. And quite apparently, Kenzan!, Of The End and Yakuza 4 all go by the same idea. Also, if you could switch between Okinawa and Tokyo in Yakuza 4 as could do in Yakuza 3 that would be sweet.
Let alone the possibility of seeing zombie-infested downdown Ryukyu in the Okinawa. Hehee :D

One of my favorites has got to be the beginning of Shenmue, its quite powerful.
From recent memory I loved a fair bit of the cut-scenes in Darksiders but I can't think of a specific one from the top of my head but i loved watching the relationship between War and The Watcher, plus the voices are just flat out awesome ;)

Great video and good list. I love love love cut scenes as the narrative within a video game is imperative to me. Personal favs (as an overall) would be Red Dead, MGS4, and Uncharted . One that does stcik in my head though from being about 13 years old and putting on Devil May Cry 1 and seeing the opening scene blew me away.

Another great example of re-occuring themes of music in cutscenes would be in the Warcraft Franchise. The end of Warcraft III has the hero Arthas fully corrupting and becoming the LIch King (OW02BWFRnkw), and the expansion Wrath of the Lich King cinematic starts with the Lich King being unfrozen (95vcgv-pK_4) notice the same theme.

Personaly, I am struck more by cutscenes involving sadness between characters (especially ones romanticaly involved). And example would be MGS when Meryl gets shot (ZvYlPVHo84g). Though what I think truely drives a cutscene like this is the music and use of re-occuring themes that resemble characters but are changed slightly to suit the scenario. Hard to go into detail on it with a small paragraph like this.
