  • Is Sheba a Ninja???...lmao...Great Looking Gal..:)

  • the oldest res i have is like a 5-6 months

  • her shell looks pretty funky. is this because she is old?

  • can you let them go on carpet because mine always gets hair CHECK OUT MY TURTLE BASKING

  • Well, I let Sheba out, but most of them shouldn't be let out because they can get scared. I have had Sheba for over 20 yrs so she is not scared at all (plus, I make sure to keep an eye on her so nothing happens to her). I don't have any cats or dogs either so she isn't in any danger. Yes, they will pick up hair if they walk around the house, but that's sometimes good because then I don't have to clean the floor. :)

  • Hey,

I currently have 6 RES, the oldest being around 17 years old. Was wondering for how many hours do you let Sheba roam around the house? And do you put her back in her enclosure after?

  • Congrats on your 17-yr-old RES! They are awesome when they get older. :) I let Sheba out for maybe 4 hours at a time then put her back in her 90-gallon tank. Keep in mind that in nature, they often sit on logs in the sun for up to 8 hours though.

  • I have a 20 year old RES. it's like a family petloom! my cousin found chushy in her shoe so she decided to keep him. she passed it to my aunt(her mom) and then my aunt gave it to my mom and then she gave it to me!

  • such a cute, curios turtle : }

  • o i see thanks you are so quick :D i can't what for ver to grow up they are much more fun to pat, play and walk with XD thanks

  • don't you worry that she will pee on the floor as you have carpets everywere? i wish i could do that with my turtle but he's only 2 yrs and could easily turn over on his back :O!! there are alot of places were he could go in my house and he's a runner so i might not find him after quite some time so i don't dare do it

  • She pees/poops right after she eats, so as long as I don't put her on the floor right after that, she is fine for many hours. She has LESS accidents than my friends who have dogs/cats. Plus, she is so big that she doesn't get lost. :)

  • cute

  • yo let her outside all day every day?

  • No, just once in a while....usually just on weekends when I am home all day (I don't like to leave her unattended for long periods of time). Sheba is great company for me & she just walks round & round on the floor while I am cleaning, doing laundry, dishes, etc.

  • I read one of your post that says Sheba is over 20 years old, that is excellent! Did you get her as a hatchling (legally?lol) or when she was older? :)

  • I got her when she was 6" long. I have had her for 18 yrs, and I estimate that she was at least 2 yrs old when I got her. :)

  • That is AWESOME! lol. I've had my RES for around 3-4 years, she was like 4 inches. She's only grown like 2 inches, although that may have been because I kept her in a small tank :( But now she's in a 120 gallon, I think she's happier!

  • how heavy is your turtle? She is so cute! does she lay eggs? what do you do when that happens?

  • I really don't know what you are trying to say. Sorry. If you are implying that I don't clean my floors, I do clean them. Often. And I am not ashamed of posting anything. Everyone I know who has dogs has told me that dogs have accidents too, and those accidents are MUCH bigger than just a turtle. Sheba hasn't pooped in my house in *years.* And she only has a peeing accident about once every 2 yrs. That is way better than all my friends' dogs....

  • will she urinate on the floor?

  • she has an occasional accident, but she usually goes to the bathroom right after she eats (in her tank where I feed her). As long as I don't feed her right before she walks around the house, then she's fine.

  • I love your videos with that turtle. It's really healthy and looks happy with you. I have a turtle, named Beckett(because he mades alot of noise)

I've had my turtle for about... 4 years now, he is friendly but doesn't like to be handled, how did you get yours like that? where she loves to be handled?

  • Thanks! I feed my turtle in a separate laundry pan of water. When I take her out of the tank, she used to flail a lot & the water would go everywhere so after a while I figured "why not let her walk to her food." I took a treat, put it in front of her nose & walked with it, and she would follow me. She's been doing it ever since (even without me holding a treat, she follows me anyway).

  • I'm going to try that with mine. Hopefully he might do the same. Thanks for the advice, i'll be watching for more videos of Sheba.
