The 300 to 1 gearing is the only thing that is able to move it cause the cardboard disk turbine is so leaky and the small leafblower has so little pressure.
Check out my other video "leafblower powered go kart" and you'll see the kart moving a little better with a 100 to 1 gearing.

A hydro powered tesla turbine go kart sounds really cool!
I guess you'd have a pressurized a water tank blasting a stream of water ot 100 psig into a tesla tubine that's geared to the drive wheel at say a 100 to 1 drive ratio.
Check out the "tesla water Turbine" youtube for some ideas that might be helpfull.
Your very first step is build your water powered tesla turbine, and then connect it to a garden hose and see how much torque you get from it.
@ufoengines Maybe this is well beyond my time, but I would love to see a Stirling Solar Dish Electric hybrid, where the trough (U-shaped) Parabolic dish charges the batteries in the day, with much better output that a Photovoltaic-battery vehicle. Even a Solar Steam Dish Electric hybrid would be cool to see. Dishes on top of vehicle, transparently enclosed to maintain aerodynamics and prevent damage of the mirrors and device. See I thought the Tesla turbine spun a generator of magnets and copper coils to make ac electricity which was then rectified and turned to dc and fed into a battery bank hooked up to a control box that is used to drive an electric motor through a gearbox into the wheels.

There was so little torque from this disk turbine / leaf blower set up, that I just kept increasing the drive ratio till I got it to move. If you check out my "leaf blower powered go kart" vid I used a much smaller ratio. Keep in mind, this was built over the week end from junk from found around the house.
why are the gear ratios backwards? the turbine should have the bigger gear not just the shaft from the engine, it would increase the speed of it dramatically, as far as torque i couldn't tell you but im pretty sure that may be increased as well :/
Rip that leaf blower apart and just slap a couple of pulleys on to lower the RPM to the wheels, that's like a 100x efficiency boost, the thing would actually move.

@ufoengines I have heard of Stirling Dishes providing up to 15kilowatts each, in the Arizona desert. Even up north, or with a smaller dish, a couple thousand watts constant is plenty if your car is just sitting and being charged. When there's no sun, you can optionally plug it in your home. Otherwise, homes can be powered with these devices too, and where there's no sun, there is sun in many other places. Electricity can be quickly distributed, faster and more efficiently than gas.
@ufoengines In conclusion,less use of gas,saves money in a lot of areas. But at the same time,reduces demand,thus reduces employment. To compensate, an economy needs a heck of a lot more jobs in the alternatives sectors. Steam engines may provide more output per size than Stirling, however, Steam requires more parts and preferably a looped water system to be self sustainable. Either way,Stirling engines,located slight north or south can be practical to power homes, where there's sufficient sun.
Please folks do not panic! I just wanted to see if a go kart using a disk turbine made from scrap materials could be made to work, and it did, ... sort of.
My next design will use a cardboard impulse turbine running off an air tank at 60psig.

Not with that leaf blower, it's pretty weak. It was just strong enought to give me the air flow to spin that disk turbine, the reduction pulley, and move the kart about as fast as the second hand of a Timex watch. Now if I used a 5hp leaf blower ZA- ZOOM!

The engine's power is fixed and power = torque x rotational speed. Raise the one and the other must go down proportionately. The gearing is right.

@ufoengines I have heard of Stirling Dishes providing up to 15kilowatts each, in the Arizona desert. Even up north, or with a smaller dish, a couple thousand watts constant is plenty if your car is just sitting and being charged. When there's no sun, you can optionally plug it in your home. Otherwise, homes can be powered with these devices too, and where there's no sun, there is sun in many other places. Electricity can be quickly distributed, faster and more efficiently than gas.

@ufoengines In conclusion,less use of gas,saves money in a lot of areas. But at the same time,reduces demand,thus reduces employment. To compensate, an economy needs a heck of a lot more jobs in the alternatives sectors. Steam engines may provide more output per size than Stirling, however, Steam requires more parts and preferably a looped water system to be self sustainable. Either way,Stirling engines,located slight north or south can be practical to power homes, where there's sufficient sun.

Please folks do not panic! I just wanted to see if a go kart using a disk turbine made from scrap materials could be made to work, and it did, ... sort of.
My next design will use a cardboard impulse turbine running off an air tank at 60psig.

Yes, 100% efficiency wan not achived. However a disk turbine was used in making the go kart move.

110VAC input for the air blower to power a turbine that then moves the device forward at 1/10th MPH. Hugely inefficient.

Not with that leaf blower, it's pretty weak. It was just strong enought to give me the air flow to spin that disk turbine, the reduction pulley, and move the kart about as fast as the second hand of a Timex watch. Now if I used a 5hp leaf blower ZA- ZOOM!
