Type in Abbott & Costello Tribute3-Who's On First at the search for a version of this routine as well as Abbott & Costello Tribute1 and Tribute2 all from Lou Costello's 100th Birthday Celebration.
love this version, but does it seem weird that abbott is pointing from his left to right when naming the bases, you'd think he would be naming the bases from the perspective of standing on home plate
I`M SOO HOT AND SEXY***I`M ALWAYS IN THE PLAYFUL MOOD***MY BODY ASK YOU TO COME AND KISS ME!! Don't be afraid to tell me the naughty things you want me to do for you. In all their versions, from the first time on Vaudeville, and beyond this rendidtion, they NEVER tell us the right fielder. They did this act many times. When they did this version in this movie, only the camera crew was in the room to avoid laughter. The laugh track you hear was dubbed for this clip. There was a board game that said "NOBODY" was the right fielder.
This is the best example of the genius of A&C. No matter how many times I hear it and in whatever form it takes, I bust a gut laughing! The only other routine that even comes close to this is Bill Cosbys routine about a visit to the dentist.
lmao yeah definitely wasnt improve, they had that down pat, and they had too. i cant imagine how hard that was to do the whole thing without any mistakes
What I meant to say a few days ago was I don't know if this is true or not but I heard that this bit "Who's On First" made it to baseball's hall of fame. Could someone please be kind enough to check this out & post the result please thank you.
I heard that is skit (I think I spell that right if not please forgive me for my lousy spelling.) Anyway this skit made into baseball's hall of fame I'm not sure who someone please be kind enough to post it please.
I saw this first as a child in a "ABC" production. This was W and two friends did this. I thought it was the funniest thing. This is still funny 11 years later
This version is from the film 'The Naughty Nineties' and doesn't contain a laugh track (which was superimposed over this clip) - so you hear the routine without the laughter. Ironically, you DO hear the cameramen chuckle a few times, desperately trying not to. Despite several takes because of this problem, the director gave up and left the laughter in (!). This is, indeed, their BEST version of this classic routine.
2 comedy legends showin how its done bud abbott and lou costello were comedy geniuses i love all their movies and shows they were 2 of the best that ever done it
Absolutely the BEST team comedy routine EVER! The comedic timing benchmark for all time, and even knowing what's coming is even funnier as these professionals deftly demonstrate its "the delivery" that counts!

Classic!! Comedy at its finest! Once I got in a discussion with a co-worker regarding a song by the group Deep blue Something (dont even remember the song). I wanted to know who was the group and it (honestly) sounded like this routine.
Who sang that song?
Deep Blue something.
Dont know the group, huh?
Deep Blue something.
Oh, dont remember the whole name, huh.
and so on.
Didnt mean to do it but we (accedentally) proved Abbot and Costello routines will live forever.
The ultimate verbal comedy classic. The wordplay is brilliant, but the instinctive timing and symbiotic sponteneity is sublime. But let's not get carried away...best double act? Sorry, but Stan & Ollie are light years above Bud & Lou.
i disagree, laurel & hardy were not light years above abbott & costello. i think it's the other way around. abbott & costello were THE GREATEST COMEDY TEAM OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!
This is one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, comedy bits of all time. The wordplay sparkles. The timing is amazing. It's hard to believe that something written so long ago can still be so funny today. A&C actually have a number of incredibly clever bits, which is ironic for a comedy team most famous for their dumb slapstick movies. For example: "Mudder/Fodder", "Lend me $50", "Slowly I turned", etc.
This is the all time best comedy team ever and this by far is the best comedy skit I've ever seen. No matter how many times I see it I laugh so hard I cry. This is vintage comedy. I remember watching Abbott and Costello as a kid and never tire watching them. They were the best. Brings back so many memories!
