  • Why's everyone curse so much. Meanies

  • that short stop has changed over the years

    i don't care

    i don't give a darn

    i don't give a damn

    are the brothers?

  • @orangie84 Nah, they're not brothers. They're censored...for no damn reason.

  • HahHahahahahahahhahahahahahahah

  • Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahjaahahhahahahaahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhhahahahahahhahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahaha

  • as a big fan of baseball i always play this on opening day then again at the beginning of playoff s.

  • There needs to be more modern comedy like this. This is fantastic in comparison to a lot of crap on today.

  • @TomTheH This is probably the greatest bit of word play outside of Lewis Carroll.

  • the right fielder's name is nobody

  • Pretty much the funniest film on YouTube.

  • 12 people missed the "like" button.

    This is comedy gold.

  • @overseerdude i know

  • I think the right fielder's name is " I said so"

Because you always ask you parents, why?, and they always say "Because I said so"

  • Classic!

    Rainman anyone? ;)

  • Great routine by a great comedy team. One can view modern day versions by going to my homepage here at You Tube.

  • GENIUS rendition!

  • I was always trying to figure out the Right Fielder's name too!... is there a secret messege or hint that would help me figure this out?

  • And the Right Fielder's name is...?

  • first- Who

    2nd- what

    3rd- I don't know

    left field- Why

    center field- because

    pitcher- tomorrow

    catcher- today

    short stop -I don't care

  • this is where a diagram would help :D

  • 2:18 hahaha

  • Type in Abbott & Costello Tribute3-Who's On First at the search for a version of this routine as well as Abbott & Costello Tribute1 and Tribute2 all from Lou Costello's 100th Birthday Celebration.

  • Costello is my last name!

  • "No one " is a very stupid name for the right fielder!

  • who ?

  • @GregERobertson The guy on first.

  • No one is in Right field!

  • Type in Vic and Walt at the search to view our versions of Who's on first as well as our tributes to Abbott and Costello. Thank you.

  • 1:50 xD

  • search up the one on math

  • i have to preform this in frount of my school its hilarious :)

  • It would be tough to top this. CLASSIC!

  • i watched this in science class- mr.crosswell. it was funny the first time but after the 16th it gets boring...

  • Well, I would think so.

  • loool :)

  • I memorized the entire eight pages of Abbot.

    Like a year ago.

  • there is 1 thats exactly the same like this but with a WoW theme

  • hahaha i love these guys

  • cracks me up...funny stuff

  • LOL

    HAHA

    ;D

  • a great american performance!

  • do u get it I DO

  • to follow up, they point to left field as if it were behind first base???

  • love this version, but does it seem weird that abbott is pointing from his left to right when naming the bases, you'd think he would be naming the bases from the perspective of standing on home plate

  • Why?

  • no who

  • Probably the best skit ever made.

  • wonderful!

  • I love Abbott and Costello

  • XD Funny!!

  • the guy on the right sounds like the Aflac duck!

  • anyone know the guy in right field not left field

  • How

  • In all their versions, from the first time on Vaudeville, and beyond this rendidtion, they NEVER tell us the right fielder. They did this act many times. When they did this version in this movie, only the camera crew was in the room to avoid laughter. The laugh track you hear was dubbed for this clip. There was a board game that said "NOBODY" was the right fielder.

  • Timing...timing...timing. Talk about having something down pat.

    It doesn't get any better.

I think this clip is from the A & C TV show because it contains the laugh track.

  • Why's on Leftfield

  • I-don't-know's on 3rd ;)

  • whats on second base lol

  • whos on first base

  • This is the best example of the genius of A&C. No matter how many times I hear it and in whatever form it takes, I bust a gut laughing! The only other routine that even comes close to this is Bill Cosbys routine about a visit to the dentist.

  • I agree, the funiest version of this routine, never gets old!

  • lmfao xD

  • hahhahah

  • hilarious, this was a little hard to follow at times, i cant imagine actually having to act it. but like i said, hilarious

  • I actually did act this out with my friend for a special program and we did it in Sign Language which is even more difficult

  • I think it was improv. They probably got the basics together: Who's on first, What's on second, I Don't Know's on third, then they just ad libbed.

  • it wasn't improv.

    but still, it's amazing.

  • lmao yeah definitely wasnt improve, they had that down pat, and they had too. i cant imagine how hard that was to do the whole thing without any mistakes

  • It's wonderful that this sketch has stood up so well over the years. Very, very funny!

  • One of my all-time favourite comedy duos with one of my all-time favourite comedy sketches. Brilliant!

  • rofl

  • roflmao

  • Now that's Funny!!

  • their in the hall of fame though theynever played a game the two with that honor

  • classic.

  • the greatestcomedysketch of alltime

    ditto

  • Oh Man!!! This is a Gasssssssss! These to guys have got me in stitches right now!

  • the greatestcomedysketch of alltime

  • hilarious and maddening.

  • What I meant to say a few days ago was I don't know if this is true or not but I heard that this bit "Who's On First" made it to baseball's hall of fame. Could someone please be kind enough to check this out & post the result please thank you.

  • Abbott and Costello have never been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame but are featured at the Museum in the Hall of Fame.

  • The best there is...:)

  • I heard that is skit (I think I spell that right if not please forgive me for my lousy spelling.) Anyway this skit made into baseball's hall of fame I'm not sure who someone please be kind enough to post it please.

  • what's on first

  • Oh, no no no. What's on SECOND!

  • And I Don't Know's on third.

  • Excactly

  • @GameDr04 I'm not asking you who's on second who's on first

  • @GameDr04 I don't know?

  • @GameDr04 I don't know!

  • @GameDr04 I'm not asking you who's on second!

  • so, who is right field? they only say left and center.

  • In case you missed it, Who is on first...

  • Who's on first!

  • i still get cracked up every time i watch this

  • I saw this first as a child in a "ABC" production. This was W and two friends did this. I thought it was the funniest thing. This is still funny 11 years later

  • gotta luv abbot and costello

  • Genius

  • Abbott and Costello are in my opinion one of the greatest comedy teams we've ever had and "Who's on First" proves it.

  • When I saw this as a child - it was very frustrating - not until I saw it as an adult, did I appreciate the beauty of it all. I loved these guys!

  • LOL

  • i love this movie me and my friend keep getting calls 2 perform it i love it and every1 els calls it

  • This version is from the film 'The Naughty Nineties' and doesn't contain a laugh track (which was superimposed over this clip) - so you hear the routine without the laughter. Ironically, you DO hear the cameramen chuckle a few times, desperately trying not to. Despite several takes because of this problem, the director gave up and left the laughter in (!). This is, indeed, their BEST version of this classic routine.

  • 2 comedy legends showin how its done bud abbott and lou costello were comedy geniuses i love all their movies and shows they were 2 of the best that ever done it

  • This is a rib tickler. Thanks

  • The best. By far.

  • their cadence and their timing is crazyyyyy. so good!

  • love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Genius!

  • Absolutely the BEST team comedy routine EVER! The comedic timing benchmark for all time, and even knowing what's coming is even funnier as these professionals deftly demonstrate its "the delivery" that counts!

  • Absolutely the BEST team comedy routine EVER! The comedic timing benchmark for all time, and even knowing what's coming is even funnier as these professionals deftly demonstrate its "the delivery" that counts!

  • i love who's on first :) me and my friend always perform it and everybody cracks up!

  • This sure brings back memories of the first time I heard them on the radio then later on the Ed Sullivan Show. I sure enjoyed their movies too. Abbot and Costello meet Frankenstien hahahaha great movie funny. Nice trip down memory lane.

  • soo funnyy

  • absolutely awesome! Thanks for posting this!

  • Classic!!!

  • i love it

  • Laurel and Hardy-Abbott and Costello two great teams at different times. In later years Martin and Lewis.

  • Absolute genius!

  • Really funny! Would be interesting how long it took for them to work that one out.

  • Classic bit. Much better when finished up with "I don't give a Damn" instead of "I don't care", lol.

  • Classic!! Comedy at its finest! Once I got in a discussion with a co-worker regarding a song by the group Deep blue Something (dont even remember the song). I wanted to know who was the group and it (honestly) sounded like this routine.

    Who sang that song?

    Deep Blue something.

    Dont know the group, huh?

    Deep Blue something.

Oh, dont remember the whole name, huh.

    and so on.

Didnt mean to do it but we (accedentally) proved Abbot and Costello routines will live forever.

  • Who's on first is the best! It is hilarious. I love Abbott and Costello. They're so funny, they make me crack up lauphing.

  • these guys were good, but Laurel and Hardy were the best

  • i disagree, laurel & hardy were the second best comedy team after abbott & costello.

  • The ultimate verbal comedy classic. The wordplay is brilliant, but the instinctive timing and symbiotic sponteneity is sublime. But let's not get carried away...best double act? Sorry, but Stan & Ollie are light years above Bud & Lou.

  • i disagree, laurel & hardy were not light years above abbott & costello. i think it's the other way around. abbott & costello were THE GREATEST COMEDY TEAM OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!

  • very funny a classic

  • Bud Abbott - the greatest straight man in history. Bud's from Asbury Park - Lou from Paterson. Both Jersey Boys!

  • Absolutely fantastic.

  • This is one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, comedy bits of all time. The wordplay sparkles. The timing is amazing. It's hard to believe that something written so long ago can still be so funny today. A&C actually have a number of incredibly clever bits, which is ironic for a comedy team most famous for their dumb slapstick movies. For example: "Mudder/Fodder", "Lend me $50", "Slowly I turned", etc.

  • anyone know where i can download this video? i wanted to add it to a slideshow of the Hall of Fame

  • This is a clasic sketch.

  • This is the all time best comedy team ever and this by far is the best comedy skit I've ever seen. No matter how many times I see it I laugh so hard I cry. This is vintage comedy. I remember watching Abbott and Costello as a kid and never tire watching them. They were the best. Brings back so many memories!

  • No matter how many times I watch this sketch, it cracks me up every single time.

  • Classic!! Its one of the best comedy skits ever pure genious. I love Bud Abbott and Lou Costello. Hold that Ghost one of my favorite films. They were and are the greatest comedy duo ever.

  • I never get tired of watching this routine. And they were right, this is the best filmed version of this routine that they ever did. Hilarious!

  • best comedic duo ever!

  • This is the best part of the Naughty Nineties!!! Have you seen this movie? Castello is the best!!!

This truly is legendary, THE "Who's on First"

  • Legendary. One of the greatest comedy routines of all time.
