ok this guys fingers must be stronger than Ritchie Kotzen's as it looks like hes doing ALOT of legato, instead of alternate picking (like guthrie does) but yet it almost sounds like hes picking each note, its all crystal clear.. but there isnt an "over the top" amount of gain to assist with legato :S

@deanml1986 He also has a hair band at the top of the neck so that will cut down any unwanted noise when doing his legato so it will sound better, however you are right his legato is SPECTACULAR! lol especially that fast lick at 3:01 it was very well done indeed.

@XavSch If I'm not mistaken, he is using a pick that you attach to your thumb, not typically used by electric guitar players. If you take a good look at the fingernail on his thumb, you see something wrapped around it. Just a guess though. Could explain why he has trouble alternate picking fast since those types of picks generally have quite long tips. Needs a little refinement on bends, but great hammers and pulls to compensate for lack of alternate picking. Great job

You don't pick almost everything.It sounds very good though but you should try alternate picking.Some of the licks are played this way not only by legato.Also you need to work on some of your bends,you must give attension to qualithy playing not just play a fast scale good and when you reech a bend to sound very amatuer.

I really enjoy it though but guitar player's need to exercise their picking!NOT legato the whole time.

@panechos indeed it is, i think i need to try with a hair band over the first fret, as its on his fretboard for pretty much all of the song, it cuts out any of the other strings, which makes it sound smoother, his precision for notes is spot on, but its something else to pick like guthrie does aswell. none the less an awesome cover. \m/

Are you alternate picking any of those runs? I can't tell because I can't see your right hand too well. The alternate picking is the hardest part of this song, but the phrasing, which you did a really good job on by the way, is also pretty tough.

Well Guthrie Govan rarely uses Alt Picking, even the first solo is not even played entirely with alt picking, and not even the 3:02 part.
