  • This is possibly, The most amazing video i've ever seen. 3 Sackbuts playing amazing notes.

  • sounds like a difficult song

  • haha, good to see the sackbutts at FSU are still getting good use!

  • why did it take so long for me to see this?? bill....

  • omg. \m/

  • only trombones...oh how i love it

  • This is probably one of the most unnecessary things I've ever seen... I love it!

  • I love how they have music in front of them. ^ ^;

  • well...i know thos werent bass trombones...so im going 2 say u were playing on G trombones, especially since u guys were holding the extension handle or w/e its actually called

  • bass sackbuts are usually either in F or Eb

  • @dreecee These were in F

  • They are all sackbuts.

  • You guys are funny!

  • Lmao!!!! That was awesome!!

  • whats that noise after each note?

  • The reflection of the sound-waves off the surface behind the camera.

  • no not that, the popping sound at the beginning of each note i should say, you can hear it with headphones

  • The air before the note starts?

  • @bretwags It's a mixture of the start of the note and the poor microphone sound quality (Not that it's awful, but it's just not designed for sounds that low and loud). It is hard to get a note out like that cleanly, so it takes a little bit of extra air to start the note, and, with the note being so low, you can hear the individual wavelengths of the notes, so the popping noise is always in effect. The first one is just the strongest. The camera just emphasizes it more.

  • @bretwags it's the note not immediately responding.

  • derp'd

  • dawn, now I'm going to have to post a video response, but how do you top 3 sackbuts doing this? lol

  • Miotti, they're playing lower than I've ever heard you play!!!

It's Horton dude, hope you and Al are well!

  • get off!!!! you guys!!! my god why did you stop? that sounds amazing. Miotti and swaino

  • as an ex-trombonist, let me ask you all a question...is the ''flair'' on the brass bell necessary to produce the same sound or is it just for show.

sorry about the lack of question mark. my keyboard is broken.

  • @ dale1966gto,

The bell-section's flair adds resonance and provides an "open" sort of sound. It also helps with intonation and strengthen partial differences.

  • I always wondered what started earthquakes.

  • Yeppirs! Excellent!

  • I feel light-headed already...

  • damn good

  • haha yes! what a great video reply! well done :)

  • pure awesomeness

  • lol this seems kinda awkward after 5 times for some reason.. I think it's cause nothing else is going on in the background

  • Yeah, we're just waiting for the orchestra to come in. ;-)

  • lol the hellboy mating call

  • bill -- these are blats!

  • Thanks Mark. I had hoped it would meet your approval. :-)

  • I'm confused. Does one play D, the other Eb, and the third E at the same time or are they all in unison and using these three notes throughout the video? I don't hear any pitch significant pitch difference between each one at all...

  • Yeah, we play all three pitches at the same time. Most of the fluctuation you hear is the balance between the pitches changing.

  • This is madness!

  • This is amazing.

  • Good job guys. Making FSU proud. congrats Bill and John!

  • YES!

  • Hey the guy on the left I auditioned for at tri-state..... AWESOME BASS TROMBONIST

  • ahahhaha amazing

  • Bravo! :)

  • HAHAHA

  • what note was that

  • Pedal D, Eb and E

  • I. Want. One.

  • HAHAHA Bill that's awesome!

-this is marcel by the way

  • bass sackbut in F?

  • Yeah.

  • Where would someone go if they wanted to, say, buy one?

  • ebay.

  • Hellboy is coming!

    Flee! Flee!

No one will be spared the Furious Wrath!

  • HAHA! last one went sharp lol :p

  • That's some funny stuff! Great sound!

  • HAHAHAHAHAH!!! This is AWESOME, guys - fine, fine work!! I like hearing the post-frap slap coming off the back wall. Now be honest - did anyone almost pass out?

    Just outstanding!!
