  • Hey man I did what you did and my DVD burner is working better and I added a new belt on the door motor and my door opens like new again without having to push the wire through the hole. I had lots of lent balls in my DVD burning area. I am surprised it had not caught fire before I cleaned it. Thanks for the Lazer cleaning tip.

  • @MrJamesmiller you're welcome. I'm glad it worked for you and thanks for the positive comments

  • Did your DVD Burner start working correct and burning DVD disc again and reading your DVD and CD discs after you cleaned it. My DVD drive is just like yours and it has the same problem in the middle of a DVD burn it will stop and freeze up and wont finish the burn. One discs in about 3 or 4 might burn correctly.

  • @MrJamesmiller mine did but a lot of people who have tried it have had other problems with their dvd burners and it didn't work. if your burner isn't working now it might be worth trying.

  • Does it work with home dvd burners? My LG keeps messing up my discs.

  • @mofrakker it works with any cd or dvd player but if yours is messing up disks their might be something else wrong with it that cleaning the laser lens might not fix.

  • honestly never try that i did it with my cd jukebox laser and it stopped reading all together i said that it was old but they told me using that causes it to get worse your better of either buying a cd laser cleaning disc or getting a cotton bud and gently wipe over the lazer.

  • ok thx for the advice i'll try it

  • I have a cd/ dvd drive and it burns disc when I put a game on it nothing happens did everything uninstall it and still nothing do u think it could be dirty cause back then it use to read DVDs and CDs but know nothing?

  • @eric8510282e it could be dirty...if it's not working it wouldn't hurt to clean the laser..can't say for sure that it would help but it's worth a try...good luck

  • Nah still a nogo, guess i have to buy a new one =(

  • @Nixima81 sorry to hear that it didn't work..sometimes it doesn't but worth a try. I've had the same problem with a few lg burners.

  • Gona try it on my LG multi reader. Cost me about 100 dollars so i sure hope i can fix it =D

  • @Nixima81 good luck! I hope it works for you.

  • THANKYOU!!! This fixed my CD/DVD burner that was previously not burning disks and randomly not even reading any disks. It works like new now. I had no idea it was something so simple as a dirty lense.

  • @eredfield591 You're Welcome!! Thanks for the positive comment.

  • Very Good information. I have a PYE DVD-VCR Combo Recorder, PY90. I tried a cleaning disk but later had to disassemble and remove the drive to access the lens for a thorough cleaning. The unit still fails to record (cannot record on this disc, E 4 54037380, or E 4 54040990 error). It fails to record on the recommended DVD disc types. I am thinking of just replacing the DVD-RW drive with a new one and reconnecting everything. Suggestions?

  • Abboner Vous a ma chaine ;)

  • I want to clean laser lens of my BBK stand-alone DVD-player(which's plugged into TV).

It says NODISC.I'm not going to have it professionally serviced because it's cheaper to buy another one that I have already done. But I've kept old.

What is better to do? Use cleaning CD or open it and clean lens?I've heard that using clean. CDs's not recommended on machines with slim tray design. My machine has slim tray. And, also, machine doesn't read both CDs and DVDs.Can this be caused by dirty lens?

  • @winxpuser100 I never use cleaning cd's..it's pretty quick and easy to open the dvd player up and clean the laser without one. as far as the nodisk thing goes..I'm not an expert or anything but I'd say cleaning the laser should help but sometimes it doesn't. I have a dvd/vcr combo here that I've cleaned a few times and it still won't read dvd's. most likely it needs a new laser.which I doubt that it'll ever get. hopefully this helps and thanks for the comment.

  • @percaine Thanks for your answer.

  • @winxpuser100 you're welcome!

  • Thanks man that really helped me I just wanted to get a new burner when I saw this video you saved my money!!

  • @97bosko I'm glad to here that it worked for you. no need to buy a new one if you can fix the one you have eh.

  • pls.help when my dvd burner burned it turn to ashes....

  • Help please! My CD drive is not reading my CDs. I insert a very clean CD with no dents scratches, dust or fingerprints and it has data in it, then I hear 2 quiet beep sounds and that's it. It doesn't read it.

  • please help me my pc CD/DVD drive is playing CD but it is not playing DVD pls help....

  • @ADITYAGAUTAM1994 I've had that problem to but in my case I just replaced the drive..there are so many things that can cause that problem...the laser might be bad and needs replacing..probably cheaper and easier just to replace the whole drive. sorry I can't be more helpful

  • @percaine, thanks alot for sharing it,

  • Hi there,

Could you tell me if it is dangerous or not. I'm probably being stupid but it has all those radiation sticker warnings do not remove...you'lll be blind etc warnings. Can I go ahead and ignore those?

  • My friend I have to thank you for your vid. It helped me clean my old Laptop DVDV Writer Laser, thanks again!

  • @Danzaiver01 Not a problem..I'm glad it was helpful. thanks for the positive comment.

  • @percaine please help my dvd drive not reading blank dvd

  • you need to rethink the use of "easy" in your description.

  • Thank you very much, my Linux Ubuntu 10.04 wasn't readable before, now it is, thank you :)

  • @HiddenHand91 you're welcome. I'm glad it was helpful..

  • hey you're great thank you very much

  • I did this with the laser in my hifi using a cotton wool bud (like you) and CD cleaning fluid. It worked a treat. Now I need to do the same with my DVD drive and my DVD recorder as both are playing up. Good video, thanks!

  • Thanks for the video.

  • nice stuff you have for rubbing alcohol. must be pretty expensive stuff. lol

  • 1. Why didn't you continue with the video telling us whether it fixed your problem after reinstalling the drive. Does it work now or what?

    2. Ugh! Sorry but your accent is unbearable, you sound like Jack Nicholson I had to turn off the volume.

  • @Seapaddler what makes you think that YOU dont' have an unbearable accent??? your comment proves it! Ugh! disgusting .

  • I can't burn DVD for some reason... It can read CDs and DVDs

it can burn audio CD and data CD but it wont burn..

I tried driver update and nothing...

  • No need to dry it off with the other end of the swab, rubbing alcohol evaporates very quickly and leaves no residue. Using the dry end actually has a larger chance of leaving behind a small cotton strand, which can (temporarily) disable the drive if it ends up in the right place.

  • @percaine answer MrWatandoost question! plzzz

  • @sweetjackjack I'm sorry but the comment didn't show up in my inbox for some reason..I checked the comments and I'm not exactly sure what MrWatandoost is asking so I replied as best as I could..hopefully it answers the question.if not could you please clarify the question?

  • @percaine are there any alternatives to rubbing alcohol? Could you use vodka or something?

  • @mrmazzda to tell you the truth I really don't know if you could use vodka but I wouldn't ...it's up to you though if you want to try it. vodka is way more expensive than rubbing alcohol. :)

  • @mrmazzda you can use BEER,,but not too much...it burps a lot....

  • @mrmazzda you can also use COKE or PEPSI maybe.....

  • I LOVE U MAN NO HOMO :)

  • b4 only the DVD's could not be read... n now...:( i hav done this... and this time... even a CD is not being read......:'(

  • @chinnujaswanth how many times did you clean it? you might have to do it a few times. there's also the possibility that it won't work at all if there's something else wrong with your dvd/cd drive

  • @chinnujaswanth Try some CO2 compressed air to blow out any dust from under the laser. There are a lot of parts down there that won't work right if there is dust in them.

  • I have a problem with my laser...It reads CDs but it cant read DVDs...Do you think this would fix it? And about the rubbing alcohol, can i use ordinary glass cleaner ?

  • @STOLE123321 that's the same problem I had with my DvD burner and it worked great for me..I've only ever tried rubbing alcohol and laser lens cleaning solution so I can't say for sure that glass cleaner would work and rubbing alcohol is cheap so I wouldn't take a chance but it's totally up to you if you want to try it

  • @percaine Hey I did everything like u and i put it back in the my computer and when i close it, after 3 sec it opens itself ...tryed many times but the damn thing keeps oppening...do u know what can i do and whats the problem ???

  • @STOLE123321 maybe there's ghost or paranormal activity in your room...consult a psychic....

  • @spongklongization

Thanks ,I called GhostBusters, now I can sleep again ... Thank uUUUUUu :D

Joke aside, did it twice and the damn burner still doesn't read ... thrown it away long time ago ......................

  • @STOLE123321 hmm...Sounds like something might not be together right.

  • What paperclip? I don't see it. lmfao

  • worked fine for my thinkpad dvd burner.... thanks a lot...

  • @kayesyvideo glad to hear it.

  • i usually clean mine with patrol and it also worked for me everytime

  • @StarPeopleOrion that's great I'm glad to hear it helped. :)

  • use laser to make a laser burner

  • You have the same accent as cletus from the simpsons. Oh and thanks for the video.

  • You have the same accent as claytus.

  • Thank you it works

  • @fylpa17 Glad to hear that it worked for you!!

  • and did it work?...

  • @joeybbbbbz it sure did

  • Is this Jack Nicholson talking? LOL

  • Is this Jack Nicholson talking?

  • IT WORKED!!! THANK YOU! I LOVE YOU!!! ^___^ I was getting so sad that it wasnt working!

  • This video helped me a lot man, thanks!!!

    /liked

  • plz give me you msn or you skype adreessee i want to show you plz

  • @omarbentaleb I don't have msn or skype but I did watch you're video responses and I'm not really sure what kind of help you're looking for...If your dvd player just won't read dvd's cleaning the laser should work but if there's something else wrong with it you might be better off buying a new one..

  • @omarbentaleb check ur grammar if it is corrct..^_^

  • i have a dvd portable is work ??

  • @omarbentaleb it should work but I've never tried it on a portable dvd so you will have to try it at your own risk..if it's not working now it's worth a try....good luck!!!

  • hey hi every one. i have just did the same things as it is instructed in video i opened my cd /dvd drive and then i cleaned the lens with a piece of paper and water. before my cd rom could read the disk but not write. now i insert cd and noting comes i have tried lots of cds. but not working plz help me. thanks

  • @MrWatandoost i have the same problem as u!!

  • @MrWatandoost I wouldn't recommend cleaning a lens with paper and water..that's most likely why it's not working anymore..rubbing alcohol is pretty cheap and real lens cleaning solution is cheap as well..

  • My Pioneer DVR-215DBK drive suddenly started making the same sound when the computer resets all the time after reading a disc. I also get a bluescreen while trying to install Windows 7. I don't know what the problem is. I tried cleaning it but the drive still won't read discs properly. I also cleansed the part where the disc attaches to inside the drive. If cleaning the laser didn't work I don't know what more to do except ordering another drive. I guess the laser is dead or something.

  • @razor1394a I'm not an expert or anything but I think you might be right about your laser but it also could be the circuit board on the back of your drive. Sometimes they go bad and need to be replaced. if your drive is fairly new it may be worth checking on ebay or a site that deals in replacement boards for drives.(might be risky if your not sure that that is the problem though.) let me know if you find the problem or need more suggestions.

  • @percaine I forgot to say thanks for the video. My Pioneer was a bit different so I had to remove the faceplate first. I think this is a better option than to just use these cleaner discs. I had a cleaner disc but the exe's were really old, for dos and some old windows version. The problem started about the time I replaced some SATA cables in the computer. I have now tried other cables and ports. It's like the drive restarts. The drive was bought 20080326. I have two Pioneer S19L coming soon.

  • @razor1394a Have you tried uninstalling the drive in device manager and restarting your computer. its possible that the driver may be corrupt. Or you could try restarting your computer in diagnostic mode I have a video about how to do it in case if you want to give it a try. I'm not assuming you don't know these things just some suggestions.:)

  • @percaine Thanks for your help. I have reinstalled Windows 7 from a fresh Windows 7 SP1 disc. I also have OSX 10.6 and Ubuntu 10.10 on the system. I have noticed that the drive seems to have problems in Ubuntu as well while trying to install a game. I have some experience replacing the circuit board in an Xbox360 dvd drive.

  • @ComradeNF I know eh...just trying to spread the depression around one view at a time.lol..(joking) seriously though thanks for the comment and Please Subscribe...

  • Great info. Thanks. I'm gonna do it too. Been getting a lot of burn errors.

By the way, anyone ever tell you that you sound like a Canadian Jack Nicholson? :)

  • @Annettesmusic I've heard that a few times.:) Please Subscribe;)

  • thnx a lot....i just didn't know that i had to eject the tray....i was stuck....u really helped me!!i hope that after cleaning it will work...

  • @Alexboooom I hope it works out for you to..mine has worked great and so should yours as long as there are no other problems with your drive..thanks for the positive comment and Please Subscribe..

  • @percaine unfortunately it doesn't work for me...but i have to say that i didn't clean it as much as u did...i will try it again...thnx a lot anyway..

  • @Alexboooom ok...so...i came across with a different reading sound the 2nd time i opened it...nth...the 3d time another sound different than the previous, but still it wouldn't read the disc..the 4th time it didn't run at all but i noticed there was a loose screw just on the rails of the laser-base, i screw it more but nth happened...the 5th time i was ready to throw it..i just removed all of the cable tapes and put them back and also worked on the laser move railing for and back..IT WORKS!!!!

  • @Alexboooom you should make a video showing the problem...might be helpful to someone. I happy to hear that you got it working.

  • Very Excellent Video, Cheers!

  • ince acent you got there! where is it from? Canada? haha I'm from Canada too, so thats how I knew you were from there... and then I checked your chanel... haha! Thx for the vid man!

  • Did it work after you cleaned it cause I might have the same problem with my DVD-RW

  • @MikeTraucer Mine worked after I cleaned it but if there is something else wrong with your drive this won't work. it also can't hurt to try it especially if your drive isn't working.

  • Man, this is such an old school trick but it works like a charm a majority of the time.

  • Desks? do you mean disks?

Why would you want to burn a desk, unless it's very old, and even then it may still be valuable.

  • yo, nail polish remover works :D

  • Thanks! This was a great help to me.

  • the best way to clean it is to, give it a blowjob:)

  • good vid buddy.

  • Dude PLz help i have the same problem and exactly same CD reader....

but im not confortable in removing this green tablet 1:07 ...is there any chance that i broke it ? thank you

this vid is very helpful btw =p

  • @h8stupidppl if you're not comfortable taking the drive apart you can buy a laser cleaning cd that will do an ok job. I don't like to use them because this method is better in my opinion but in a pinch the cleaning cd will work.. btw you don't actually have to remove the circuit boards.

  • @percaine Few hours after i left this comment i removed the dvd i opened it and i cleaned it...I put it back it didnt work so i cleaned it about 25 times...I commanded a new DVD lol :P

  • @percaine Few hours after i left this comment i removed the dvd i opened it and i cleaned it...I put it back it didnt work so i cleaned it about 25 times...I commanded a new DVD lol :P

  • Thanks a lot for you help and that crown whisky is the best.

  • i dont have alchohol. can i use anything else for it.. plz reply...

  • Respond to this video... I find that rubbing alcohol is the next best thing to having actual lens cleaning solution. Rubbing alcohol is much cheaper and you can buy it at any drugstore and most convenience stores. to tell you the truth I really can't think of anything else you could use that wouldn't ruin your lens

  • @percaine what about finger nail polish remover? o.O?

  • @j00suckip00n I wouldn't use finger nail polish but its totally up to you if you want to try it. good luck

  • @percaine finger nail polish remover lol I thought I'd better correct myself. :) but even so I still wouldn't use it

  • @percaine it worked really good o.O

  • Comment removed

  • @j00suckip00n

Nail polish remover is probably too strong. It contains acetone, which eats through plastic. So if the laser surface material is anything close to plastic, you will probably end up clouding the surface.

  • you Destroy the lens!

  • @jimk76

  • I have an Alienware Aurora and I think it cames with the Same DVD RW Drive It's not working for Me will this help most of my Problems? also I have a Few Games that have DRM Securom in there and will it be fixed.

  • @Btushinsky83 I can't say for sure that this will work for you but it has worked every time I've tried it. It just depends on whether there is an actual problem with the drive or just a dirty laser which is what this is meant to fix. I hope I've answered your question.

  • Thank you so much to show how to take the front face off the dvd burner. And from your video my burner works great now.

  • @didit1959 thank you for the comment I'm glad the video was helpful. there's nothing worse than a dvd burner that won't burn.lol

  • very thoughtful of you to put this up... thanks man

  • @hussamGURU i'm glad it's been helpful

  • @percaine man i was going nuts. i was having a panic attack spent hours checking my drivers and all kinds of things even downloaded driver doctor whatever... goes on and on and on. until i came across ur video. its been far more than helpful and im very grateful for showing me how retarded my situation was and ur tone of voice shows me to CALM THE F@$! DOWN. hehehe thanks 5 stars!

  • @hussamGURU i didn't think anybody would watch the video. most people just buy a new drive or take there computer to a repair shop when they can easily do it themselves and save some cash. thanks again for the positive comment.

  • this is an awesome video, i am having a lot of problems with my cd/dvd rom drive and certainly would try this method, showed by you in such simple yet detailed method. Thanks again. cheers!
