  • My former piano teachers must be rolling in their respective coffins thinking of me, never practicing this impossibly difficult movement. Only now do I understand why I was physically unable to move my hands and wrists as needed.

  • His face is awesome :o

  • GO CHARGERS!

  • Fantastisk

  • I think I like Perahia as much as anyone. He's beyond great!

  • Hi, anyone know which year and with what orchestra was this video recorded? It will be much help if I have the full details about this recording. Thank you.

  • @kongsumei round about 1988 - Murray Perahia played all 5 concerti in three consecutive nights on the BBC simultaneously broadcast on TV (?BBC2) and Radio 3 in FM stereo. Conductor Sir Neville Marriner - orchestra possibly the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Lond - I'm afraid I forget ...

  • He is great!

  • too bad the audio quality is not good, but Perahia it's a wonderful pianist :D

  • His performance is truly impressive.

  • the best!

  • you all should listen to Gulda playing this with the Vienna philharmonic orchestra in the 60s (I believe). I don't think it is on youtube, but the orchestra is fantastic and Gulda is absolutely amazing. The concerto is played at about this tempo, but Gulda makes the fast tempo contribute absolutely to the quality of the performance, whereas this one could be slowed down a bit.

  • Great recording, thanks for posting. The orchestra is St. Martin in the fields, conductor Sir Neville Marriner - obviously good chemistry between them and Perahia. The tempo is perhaps slightly fast but that doesn't take any feeling away from what is a very emotional movement, just observe Perahia to see how involved he is. Bravo!!!

  • Nothing short of miraculous.

  • This is simply magnificent.

  • i wish i could play like he is

  • i watch this and it gives me a reall appreation of music and my study of it

  • omg that would be so hard i wish i could play like that how many years of pratce would that be????

  • Alot ._.

  • i love how the orchestra and piano actually fits togetherr!!

    its auhmazing!

  • fantàstico el piano...la orquesta deja mucho que desear =(

  • wow

  • My favourites are the recordings he made of these concertos with Haitink

  • Perahia has a wonderful sense for phrasing and sound! Pure energy!! P.S.kherynn, this is not Emperor.. Thanx for posting!

  • I love Beethoven's Piano Concertos and this movement is my favorite of all!!! I don't know why because I know the Emporer very well and that is stunning...but i think the simplicity of the theme is why I love it...i don't know...I think i'm rambling now...

    Thank you for posting...

    Kherynn

  • where's the beginning, when the piano starts playing?

  • this is so fast, much quicker than the metronome mark, its still effective though

  • boy, he is fast

  • You have John Lill on your page!!!!!!!!!!! I've seen him play Beethoven Pathetique, Schumann, and Schubert A major Sonata.

Divine!!!!!!!! The best English pianist so far!

  • maravilloso
