It's not too bad for a fan effort, but I do have a couple criticisms. Kenji's voice should be more high-pitched and panicked-sounding for someone as paranoid as him, and Lilly's voice doesn't really fit here: I always imagined her having more of a faux-British accent.

That's just me, though. Not too bad, so far.

I'm just letting you know I disliked the video but you are 100% correct with all your annotations. In my opinion I would actually drop Hisao's VO all together seeing as how that's supposed to be the voice of the player? I don't know. Rin, Nurse and Hanako get my approval though, Emi needs a bit of work. Lilly needs to be softer spoken but in a different way than Hanako is.

I really hope for this project to turn out as something positive for the fans of Katawa Shoujo, so we are looking into making the proper modifications in order for this project to be something you all enjoy. Lily's was totally horrible. Sounded almost southern. She needs a more quiet less southern/valley way of speaking. She is a very proper girl after all. nurse, hisao, rin are amazing. Emi is okay. Mutou was also pretty bad. To 'stuffy'. I figured he'd have a more cool kind of laid back tone...person who spoke sounded like a fat guy huffing his lines out.

Holy crap, Hisao jumps right at me because I have similar problems. Raikujo sounds like he's trying to get through lines and finish the recording quickly rather than speaking. BREATHE. So many lines need to actually finish. If he's saying "most of all new friends" there should be some affection to it because he's thinking about his friends. Raikujo keeps the same tone through. The way a person breathes changes depending on their emotions, if you can't bring the *feelings* breathe like you did.

@BluesASC Thats a video editing issue, and that was my fault. He read it just fine but I should have not adjusted the lines to the audio track, and should have done the audio tracks to the lines. I did approach this in a round about way, but you're right the next one will be longer and give each character time to read their lines.

Calm him down, maybe a little more jaded from his past. Nurse is good. Rin is okay, maybe a little more "blah" and uncaring without making her annoying. There ya go.

Why don't we do a poll ay? What do people exactly want with Lilly's voice? Medium? High? Low? Do you want:

Lilly - Standard american (prim/proper)

Lilly - American/Scottish

Lilly - Scottish only (prim/proper)

Does Lilly ever say 'aye' in the game? If not then she's not gonna have a Scottish accent, Scottish people will almost always add 'aye' into their sentences instead of 'yes' when talking casually.

@Grathanial The thing is (and its my fault for overseeing this) it's stated in the game even though Lilly clearly looks like a foreigner, she has no accent. So she would naturally be speaking good Japanese (English) in using classy words with proper pronunciation. But the voting should commence, since it would be a great help.

For Kenji I agree with maybe being maybe more nasally, but I think he was reading his lines to slow. I see Kenji being a straight to the point kind of character. He means everything he says, while the reader can see the sarcasm in the sentence, I don't feel like the actor needs to read it in a way that would indicate sarcasm.

But these are the comments I want, and I'll have to just take that people don't like things as it is right now. I did edit the trailer to be faster pace to match the musical track, but someone did mention make it longer so the characters can get their full emotions out. All of this noted, thanks!

To put it as gently as possible, the voice acting just...doesn't work, here.

It's not even just that the voice acting is "bad" (I know a Katawa Shoujo fan project won't exactly attract professional VAs), but the roles are also miscast. Lilly's voice is particularly horrendous -- I'm not even convinced ditching the accent will save her. Misha's voice would be more appropriate for Emi's role. Etc.

...Nurse was decent? That's about all I can compliment. Sorry =/

@Grathanial I'd recommend emulating the "Disney Princess" style of voice acting with Lilly, because that's the archetype for her character -- elegant, melodic -- to the point where some spoken lines almost seem "half-sung", and very emotional, with the tone and pitch of the voice changing drastically when her mood changes. That's just my recommendation, though, and others may disagree with it. Lilly would probably be one of the hardest characters to get "just right," vocally.

Hisao - Pretty good, try to make it sound a little less cheezy

Emi - Okay I guess, but it should sounds childish, now it sounds too much like an adult trying to sound childish

Hanako - the soft spokeness is great, just a little more emotion and also make it more fluid, it sounds cut off

Mutou - He's a 30y.o school teacher, not some ancient dwarf wizard

Hisao's pretty alright, though I'm not one hundred percent. Though that might be because the dialogue for him in this video is kinda cheesy.

Emi, Nurse, Rin are pitch perfect.

For Hanako and Misha, the voice is fine, but the pronunciation could use some work.

For Lilly... I guess not everyone can do a Scottish accent. I guess if you're gonna go "refined and tasteful" a southern belle kinda voice is the way to go.

Toss that raspy voice thing for Mutou. I beg of you.

@Psychochaos3 Got it, added it my list of notes. I'll definitely be making another video with the updated voices. I wrote the cheesy lines, and edited them together to fit into the time frame of the audio track. Those would definitely be a production fault. What would you want the opening lines to be more like?

emi's voice is pretty decent

hanako's voice, i feel like she fits really well but needs some emotion(?) when she talks to hisao

mutou's voice is okay

rin's voice suits her so its good

lilly's voice/accent doesn't fit at all imo, but i think if she tried to speak soft, without that accent it might work

There are certian voices that I see work well with the characters and the personalities get revealed throught the routes. However, there are others in particular that I just don't see as fitting the characters much. Yep i know, i'm slightly picky...Lilly is part Scottish.

That aside, definitely say your opinion so I can get an impression of how things stand right now. Also, Lilly is Scottish yes, but she's suppose to have no accent anyways according to the text. Hrm. These voices are not what I expect. Wait. I just had an idea. A project where in each of the different episodes, the characters have different voice actors. It'd be an interesting experiment and would allow people the chance to try out their talents.

Ok, so opinions time! Hisao's good, I could get used to that voice. Emi's voice should sound higher pitched Nurse's voice sounds good Mutou's should sound more adult Kenji's should be more annoying and neurotic, emphasis in the neurotic part Lilly's has to be a lady's voice, the southern accent doesn't cut it Hanako's needs more stuttering Misha's should be higher pitched and bossy Rin's has to be relaaxed Also, In general the dialogue is too fast, do some pauses and read slowly the sentences.

I'm just going to mention that the guys at Katawa Shoujo are not too happy about this. However the implications stem from the assumption that you're attempting to tamper with the internal game files themselves, in which breaks the license. However, you're just releasing a series of videos with voice overs, which in itself is legal.

Rin and Hanako i think are the more spot-on of the line-up. Lindsey has rin's kinda..spacey-ness it sounds like, and Portia keeps timid in hanako.

..on that note, i envisioned Kenji sounding a tad more..off-his-rocker...which at first hedge didn't have..but the extra-voice clip at the end? he may have my vote yet~ xD
