You really look great! My surgery is scheduled for 2/22/12, and I'm so excited! I have an amazing surgeon too. She's one of the surgeons who uses the Spider technique instead of doing the surgery laparoscopically. It's only one cut through the belly button. Using this technique reduces the pain and healing time. It didn't take long at all for my insurance to approve me - less than 2 weeks. The whole process only took about 2 months!

I am getting ready for surgery, it should take place in July of 2012. I have been losing pounds weekly to reduce my weight by 10% before surgery as it is requested by most surgeons. I would like to keep in touch with you if possible, because I believe the lap band is a safer less complicated procedure, even though Kaiser doesn't advocate for the lap band. They will send me out to another hospital that will though. I find the other surgeries way too invasive and risky. How did you decide?

People do not understand what its like to be able to touch your feet, tie your shoes, sit criss cross, sit in a car comfortably....i was going out with a girlfriend and made up some stupid excus bcuase i knew i wouldn't fit in her car....its embarassing....im thinking about gastric bypass....june 20, 2011 i have my first appointment :) im super excited!

All I can say is that I stumbled upon this video by accident but you look amazing! Like a different woman! I'm 5ft 5" and weigh 283lbs and am hoping to get gastric bypass in 6 months and I hope I lose as much as you! My question is - you got the lap band - normally people don't lose as quickly as you did with that surgery, so what do you think it was that helped you lose more? Do you think they restricted you too much right away? x

@Sole911 No, I wasn't restricted too much. There are a few videos from earlier in the year were I was fussing because I didn't get filled as aggressively as I thought I should :) One word, dedication. I haven't been perfect but I've been dedicated. There are lots of LapBand Rock Stars in the community, some folks do far greater than me so I don't think I'm out of the norm :)) Best Wishes to you with surgery.

@yumyum1217 Thank you, no regular gym for me, I try to stick to my surgeon's recommendation of 30 minutes of exercise per day. Currently I am actually banned from exercise because of my MS, I can't overheat my body. Throughout this process I have learned to control the things that I can control, for me that's monitoring what I eat & drink and exercising when I can :)) WOW, this is the 1st time I've answered that question and didn't feel guilty!

@sanesia Hang in there! Don't get discouraged, use this time to research and learn. Get your mind ready for the change and let things run their course. Remember, my initial referral for Bariatrics went over on 11/08/07, I had surgery on 11/09/09. Part of the delay was on my behalf. It took me 1 year after my initial visit with my surgeon to mentally be ready for surgery. Thanks for being happy with me. Big Hug - Tamika
