If you're into the 80's shred thing check out Tony MacAlpine he is pretty good and now he is getting out of that shred fusion era and back into some heavier stuff.

I think that Jason Becker is a prime example that you can still convey feeling through intense shredding. People that say that guitarists like David Gilmour plays with feeling because he plays less notes, doesn't mean that people like Steve Vai or Yngwie Malmsteen can't.
ive always felt that if you can distinguish the emotions conveyed in fast shredding runs (aka Altitudes or Images by Becker) that you just have a well developed ear and that you can distinguish each note at a faster rate.
That's true, but what I meant was that you don't have to just play really long sustained notes like the November Rain solo to convey feeling, but can play all sorts of styles, as long as it conveys feeling.
@dannygmustaine my thought about that whole thing is that the feeling is conveyed through how they play... yngwie is amazing... same with vai and they both give feeling through the notes they play and the chord progression... so that whole slow playing and bending a lot is bull shit... arpeggios give about as much feeling as about five full step bends...
@dannygmustaine i wouldn't adree with the Yngwie part. But, a lot of people confuse blues with feeling. anyone can play a blues scale, with no bends, vibratos or slides, and still convey emotion.
@gesiz22 emotion- Take the Solo from Tornado of Souls for example? why is it Mary's most popular? it isn't the fastest, most melodic, most musically technical, but it matches the tone and emotion of the song perfectly. A guitar solo, or melody, should be the guitarist singing his emotions and interpretation on the song though his fingers.

Mr.Salamander...I think you might be confusing technical prowess for being a good musician. Michael Angelo is some wanker that is really hard to listen to after a few minutes. Cooley is good but if you combine Jason's technical abilities with his composition and feel nobody really comes close
'Good musician' is a matter of opinion, far more so than speed and technical skill. Both MAB and Rusty are faster and more technically talented than Jason.
i dont know if you play guitar but if yo do , just try to play jasons mab´s and rust´s material, and you will see why they are faster , they play much more lineal and simplistic paterns , the things jason plays are so fucking hard and complex that is allredy hard to play them slow , sorry if my english isnt clear enough

I have since researched a lot more of Jason's music and yield that he is certainly a more technically skilled player than either MAB or Rusty. the most amazing thing in composition with jason imo is the way he plays the classical pieces, people like gilbert and yngwie really shred on these pieces but becker plays a perfect electric guitar version. his compositions are less "shreddy" and sound like real classical, imho

'Good musician' is a matter of opinion, far more so than speed and technical skill. Both MAB and Rusty are faster and more technically talented than Jason.

i dont know if you play guitar but if yo do , just try to play jasons mab´s and rust´s material, and you will see why they are faster , they play much more lineal and simplistic paterns , the things jason plays are so fucking hard and complex that is allredy hard to play them slow , sorry if my english isnt clear enough

this is very true. becker does the shit you would never think to do, and even if you think to do it, its too damn complex to be played at that speed, cause i can play some very fast songs. but i will not touch beckers compositions

When I posted my comment I wasn't as familiar with Jason's work as I was with Rusty's or MAB's, which is why I made my ignorant claims. I have since researched a lot more of Jason's music and yield that he is certainly a more technically skilled player than either MAB or Rusty. I apologize for wasting the time of those who were forced to challenge me and have also removed my buffoonish comment.

I would say Michael Angelo is the most technical guitar player ever...but that means very little to me. I'm more into songs...you know, just real songs. I think if Jason never got ALS his technical abilities would be 10 times more frightening than before. Either way, I've never heard a MAB or Rusty Cooly composition that can touch a Jason's composition

i think you missed my point...i was not comparing timelines of "modern" religion to "modern" science.only that explanations of the creation of our universe and the meaning of our existence can overlap. I do not think we have meaningful science in a meaningless universe. I also think we don't have meaningless science in a meaningful universe. I beleive they can & do co-exist.

Everyone's got their own beliefs, or lack there of. I think God and science do intersect. It doesn't have to be one or the other. God and science have been around since the Big Bang. Science, on our planet, wasn't discovered until man evolved within the last 10,000 years. To think that we are the highest order in the entire universe is comical at best. There is so much yet to be discovered and understood. Hate and anger are relgions as well. Look around or read youtube comments. Jason is amazing

the most amazing thing in composition with jason imo is the way he plays the classical pieces, people like gilbert and yngwie really shred on these pieces but becker plays a perfect electric guitar version. his compositions are less "shreddy" and sound like real classical, imho

"5 proofs/ evidences that God truly exists" is not evidence for god existing. it's just some obvious scientific reasons for some being or force having to exist for us to exist. this raises the question of where the first cell came from etc. this is not proof for god. religion and the bible are a load of crap. this in no way proves that anything in the bible is true or any "judgement day". nobodys disputing that the first cell / start of the universe must have come from somewhere.
