This game was great, but it could have had more emotion in it. All it was was anger, and impatience. Like when he finally comes home, hes wife is just like: "oh your back. Well that's good. Uncle is being a huge douchebag, so go talk to him." And Marston mentions his past, but hes never really reminiscent. He never cries, he's never really happy, and the only other main character is Jack, who's kindof a dick. The story was great, it just needed more emotion.

This song gives me goosebumps of emotion, when it came on the credits I got hopeless of why this had to happen, but it did have to, everyone pays for they have done and shows that nobody is able to escape their past and live happily ever after. Very realistic story line, so believable. I wish this was a book, I would read it so many times. But personally I think the game story line itself is better than any story ive heard or read. Great job Rockstar this game will stay in my heart forever.

I agree with the second top comment. The thing with John Marston that makes him unique to tall the Rockstar protaginists is that he is doing something for people other then himself. All the other protaginists as badass as they have been, have been heartless, selfish, drug addicted bastards while John is doing everything for his family and he shows it too. It was also very gratifying to kill that agent cocksucker who had John killed anyway :) Rockstar never fails when it comes to storylines. I wish they would make more games like this instead of GTA. I prefer to play a charachter such as John instead of some jackass slinging cocain and cock smacking hookers...GTA is fun but it will NEVER live up to this game. I can honestly say that I've never been so emotionally attached to a game as this one. It was like playing a movie. Money well spent.

@mynamesnotjosh05 GTA 4 was just as serious in tone as RDR, and had almost as great a story. Although the dialog form civilians and other things were usually comedic and satirical. Like, there's a company in the game called Getalife, and the Statue of Liberty has Hillary Clinton's face. Not to say RDR didn't have it's own satire, like Herbert Moon. And the gameplay is pretty much the same. The only major differences are cars instead of horses, no deadeye, and taking place in the modern day.

I hate that John died but if you look at the story as a whole it actually is well done. John had killed many people throughout his life and regreted his younger years. He left the outlaw lifestyle behind and became a rancher and started a family as if some way of seeking redemption. But you cant run away from your sins and he realized this before he opened those barn doors. His death became his ultimate redemption of the crimes he committed. Best storyline I've ever seen in a game.

I think I beat this at the perfect moment. It was real late at night, I was alone in the living room, got really pulled into the game. Then I finished it.. swallowed sadness, killed that asshole Ross, then this song and Deadman's Gun came up. My heart sank and I just sat there and watched the credits. Weirdly, the feeling was like I lost a family member and I was thinking about the times with that person. But I lost Marston.. jerked my tears and sunk my heart. No doubt Rockstar's best game yet.
