Bulldogs are solid marshmallow, more likely to savage your sandwich than your child. The kid's being monitored by it's parent, and the dog is in its natural state: speedbump on carpet periodically emitting gas. If you rub the child with ham intense licking may occur, but that's pretty much it.

Its only bad parenting if you left your child alone with the dog. People are so stupid. I know my dogs would never hurt my child but I still wouldnt leave them unsupervised in case an accident like being knocked over happened. @sparkrat07 that was thousands of years ago in Rome when they were banned and vicious as its been bred out of them; bulldogs and pitbulls have the nick name "the nanny dog" because they're so good with kids. Great breed and unfortunately we don't know the circumstances of that elderly woman and why it happened. But to others reading this now they may feel their mean, etc. Not true at all and we've never had such hilarious and kind dogs before! :) love them!
@sparkrat07 Just about any dog who hasn't been raised right can be bad news, but of course people have prejudices against breeds. I've seen so many people let their kids manhandle these snapping wired little dogs, and then jerk them away from our dogs (a bulldog and a pit mix)- even though those two are very well-behaved and very laid-back. They love other dogs, people, they looooove to lick our cats. And the bulldog is a purebred, so I can say its definitely NOT in his breed to fight at all.
@hopefullyjh He's a really good dog but despite my love for both our dogs, someone is always present and watching to ensure safety. You can never be too careful. We hired a behavioral specialist before the baby came to help us learn how to train the dog with regard to a child. It was the best money spent.

oh im so glad you pulled her away immediately! so many germs, and also bulldogs have it in their blood to be fighting dogs - its just their breed. so please be careful with her being so close to your dog. here in Australia we just had an elderly woman mauled by her pet bulldog who she'd had for 12 years! scary stuff

@sparkrat07 that was thousands of years ago in Rome when they were banned and vicious as its been bred out of them; bulldogs and pitbulls have the nick name "the nanny dog" because they're so good with kids. Great breed and unfortunately we don't know the circumstances of that elderly woman and why it happened. But to others reading this now they may feel their mean, etc. Not true at all and we've never had such hilarious and kind dogs before! :) love them!

@sparkrat07 Just about any dog who hasn't been raised right can be bad news, but of course people have prejudices against breeds. I've seen so many people let their kids manhandle these snapping wired little dogs, and then jerk them away from our dogs (a bulldog and a pit mix)- even though those two are very well-behaved and very laid-back. They love other dogs, people, they looooove to lick our cats. And the bulldog is a purebred, so I can say its definitely NOT in his breed to fight at all.

@hopefullyjh He's a really good dog but despite my love for both our dogs, someone is always present and watching to ensure safety. You can never be too careful. We hired a behavioral specialist before the baby came to help us learn how to train the dog with regard to a child. It was the best money spent.
