Yo no puedo creer lo perfecta que es esa ola, increible no deja de volarme la cabeza cada vez que la veo.... ojala algun dia pueda estar arriba de esos botes todo el dia viendolas!
@Peeedroka - sorry mate, but you didn´t understand the meaning it was said. Chick is a slang, not negative at all, at least the we i´ve known. Anyway, congratulations on a great shot, again! Catch ya ,,,
I am pretty good surfer having grown up surfing Swamis for the better part of 30 years. I dont even know If I could sit in the boat and watch this. There are no words to describe the power of this place. Nothing compares, its just SHOCKING
Ocean swell size does not = wave face size. Thats why a 3 ft swell can still jack up bigger than a 6 ft man when it hits a beach/sandbar/reef. No 20ft swells in this video sorry.
wow thats heavy, we have a wave here in NZ called THE SPIT. same deal as here doesnt get as big as this though, still real shallow and perfect and horrible. some pics in latest KIWI SURF mag check it out
Amazing, these guys really have testicular fortitude. How do they not get minced by the coral when they suffer wipeouts then :S.
My father took my sister and i to Tahiti when i was younger, much younger. I vaguely remember snorkeling inside the reef, and seeing massive waves dumping about a kilometer out. Such a beautiful place, i'd love to return to such a paradise in my adulthood..some day..
the depth goes from 150ft to 3ft in very short distance so the wave brakes on about 3ft deep reef and you cannot see the sets coming there. The wave just goes from nothing to 20ft monster. People get cought inside when the bomb set comes, local guy died there because of this. He got ragdolled over the reef and had some nasty head injuries:-(
no worries...Teahupoo is not the biggest wave, but it is the most dangerous and powerful meaning the volume of the water in the actual wave that brakes on top of ya. Sure outside Log Cabins was surfed at 100ft (once), but it probably still was not as dangerous as Teahupoo...there is no reef so you can "only" drown and that can be avoided with training, you cannot avoid 3ft deep reef, if you fall you are in for a treat lol
I live in Perth, Western Australian. We got a pretty big swell for our standards ripping up atm, i'm headin down tommorow mornin. Be lucky to get a 4 meter wave tops, depending on where you surf it breaks over a shallow sandbank; pretty panzie compared to these nutters but good fun and safe. These waves break 50-75 meters out from shore, and can get nice shape on them with the right wind. I'm more concerned about G.W's though, 5 attacks this yr
I have been to Margaret river and the whole west coast up to Calbari :-) there is some heavy surf around for sure! I used to live in Sydney and did a lot of surfing trips on the east coast, but I only spend couple weeks in WA. Wish I had more time - I like how raw it is.
that last wave sent shivers all over my body! ive still got goose bumps while i type this

I'm an expert, done much of Southern California. I don't like unnecessary risks such as chewpoo. But Caliphonia sucks. It's just shocking.
