Big fan of Yello and Associates but never had any time for this. Close to an all-time low for both bands in my opinion, though it's more because I simply don't like the style of the track. The Bside of the original Yello 12" is great.
Indeed it is. A milestone on the journey that ends in the ultimate destination - "The Rhythm Divine" sung by one of its creators i.e. Mr. MacKenzie himself. Now, that is the pinnacle of perfection!
I was a huge Associates fan in the 80s. I still have the records. And, no, he has simply never been equalled. I can't think of anyone, ever, with his talent. He is missed.
Billy is/was/and always will be a genius..thankfully despite the music press having no time for him, inovators like B.Blank BELIVED in him....Billy MacK SHOULD have been huge!!, his self disdelife and the idiots in the press fueling that have derprived the World of a great singer....if your reading this then you are among the few who have discovered Billy,....now go out and spread the word!! :)
Billy was one of the greatest male vocalists the world has ever seen not Scotland, not the UK the world over. Theres never been another since nor will there be. He was shy, funny, depressive and the nicest guy you'll ever meet.
Will is spot on that he should have been massive but not all Legends make it but Billy will live on.
I bought all their records in the 80ies and did not realize until yesterday that Billy MacKenzie committed suicide in 1997, I am really shocked. The Associates were certainly the most unusual group of the 80ies, very different from the rest and Billy had the most amazing and mysterious voice. As it always seems, the very BEST have to die young.
The Assiciates was a band that makes me love the music more and more. RIP Billy we miss you.

Billy and Herr Meier, two of my favourite ever artists. I never knew about this collaboration. What year did Billy die?
