I know what you mean . I play a W.A Cole with light strings. I love the sound of it but it's not real loud. I was told I should probably have nylgut strings on it but I don't think I could bear it any quieter.
I am glad you like it. I wish I was a heavier player and the banjo a bit louder. The banjo is a vintage George Washburn 26.5" scale, skin head, and medium steel strings - good sound but not very loud.
