There are four trains that stop here daily on weekdays. A NB/SB around 8am and a NB/SB around 3pm. They're used mainly by the kids at my school, Bellarmine College Prep. About 200 students commute by train during the school year.
It wasn't a scheduled train, just an equipment move north to SF for the evening commute. In the morning there are more southbounds than northbounds, so there are too many trainsets at San Jose at the end of the morning commute.
Thanks! There sure is a lot of trains here, I'm lucky to be able to go to school just off to the left of the station. During free periods, it's a 2 minute walk to the tracks.
And you KNOW I've gotta have a comment at 4:55 -- looking like some plane on final for SJC!! Has kinda a weird silhouette, which to me means probably 757 or 767 and it doesn't look fat enough for a -67, so gonna go out on a limb here and say 757 (and may get shot down on this one, LoL!)!! Don't have 'HQ" yet so don't be too hard on me, (c: !!!
Well, h--- (heck)!!! I knew the stubby landing gear didn't really fit with the 75-76's but I guess I just never even remotely considered an old DC8, LoL!! Dang. Did you happen to get some telephoto shots with the other camera (hopefully)?? |c:
Gotta love that Cal-Ace "race", awesome shot!!! Great shot of the Coast Starlight too-- don't remember you 'getting' the Starlight before, or at least if you did it's pretty seldom!! Very nice collection here!!
Thanks! The Peninsula Corridor (Caltrain) and the UP Coast Sub funnel into one main corridor through downtown San Jose, so this happens pretty much daily here. Sometimes you get lucky and a three train "race" will happen, if there's the local switcher running on the far siding.
how did you get to that area?? I wanna railfan there 1 day

It's Caltrain's College Park Station, just google it, it's very easy to get to. Stockton Ave is right behind me.

Yeah, I don't catch the Starlight very often because it runs in the morning, and I usually railfan in the afternoon. Thanks Larry!
