  • yay! Go booots!

  • this was an awesome game, you think so quickly on you feet man.

  • nice game

  • Jerry tell me why not play in 07:58 Rdc1 and when he take the bishop you gonna take his knight your pawn... I think you didn't have to lose your rook.

  • @sfhdiosha He still could have taken the bishop since his knight would have been protected by the rook. Yes, It isn't as bad as losing a rook, but he still would have been down material.

  • Dude my heart was beating so freaking fast by the last 30 seconds of that shit! nice work

  • You should make shirts that say, "Unprotected pieces lead to tactics"

  • y not Re1 at 7:37?

  • @varmman IF 1. Re1 Nf2+ 2. Kg1 Nh3+ (double check so the king has to move)

If king goes to f1 then it's an easy mate, Qf2#; if not, you'll end up with a beautiful smothered mate: 3.Kh1 Qg1+ 4. Rxg1 Nf2#

  • Hi Jerry, how come you have the same graphics as Blitzin (ICC client) on Babaschess? I wish I had the same...

  • what about rook a3 at 6:37

  • nice vid :P you should return to chess.com :)

  • I love it how at 6:35, the number of observers of the game nearly triples.

  • more adrenaline than any movies i could watch

  • What is this website

  • stop saying "HERE" !!! name the squares plz!

  • @DuendeDude it takes all of one second to check the square position

  • Which website is this? good game as always jerry

  • Ha! I knew my sensei would win! =)

  • You played great. I learned never togive up. valuable lesson!!

  • and you even have a forced mate in the final position!

  • What if he would have just moved the rook back at 09:30?

  • @bohmana Well, I think that this is the kind of the best move, Jerry himself said "maybe possibly he might be thinking of the move like rook takes..." or something like that. It's blitz :)

  • wow!

  • good game he would have gotten mated good stuff man

  • why not d rook to c to defend bishop, instead of pawn, leaving d rook en prise?

  • its true he out played you but you how to divert some of your a lot of your attention and time to explaining the moves to us

  • lol, this was such an intense game, when it seemed there was no hope all the sudden you started winning!

  • not just king's gambit lines either, given that i'm a very low ranked player i also need some pointer on other openings to study that lend themselves to sacrifices and complicated positions, i prefer open tactical games to closed strategic ones so pls any pointer along those lines will be appreciated, also with the game up here u said you were out played but at move 12 or so you predicted that your bishop would bring you the win in the endgame so despite all else you called it from the start.

  • yeah i got a comment from :13 - 10:44 you showed that u r THE MAN! I love sacrifices, they are in line with the true spirit of the game of chess, pls recommend for me some of your king's gambit lines and games, i am studying on how to be a better attacker but not a capablanca style attacker with spotless positional play but rather a rugged attacker like morphy or tal with sharp tactics and wild intuitive sacrifices, because a well calculated sac is no sac at all, know what i mean?

  • LOL

First you took him out of all KID lines known to humanity from the get go-

Then you were able to think faster than him and the hero won in the end.

Less "lucky" than "able to think more on your feet than the opponent" which is key in 5/0 obviously.

    Great game for us spectators.

  • Very interesting video :-)

  • Jerry you are the BEST!

  • Cool game. I like how you can call the moves before hand.

    Benson and Tonic

    mysapce/bensonandtonicproductions

  • Great vid once again, Jerry. Not as instructional as some of your others but good.

  • wow.... you know, sometimes in chess is jut matter of "who´s gonna make the first blunder".... so its true that one bad move can mess your entire game.

  • good job of not taking the pawn on 10:14

  • @nike297 ***Comment removed due to lack of maturity.***

  • I'm sorry I meant a different time, before the queen comes to f6

  • @Zelrio28 Hmm...Ya know I didn't take that tactical shot of taking on b6 into consideration. I should have and it might have worked at some point. Good eye! ~¿o =)

  • At 3:47 why is Nxb6 a bad move? You win a pawn

  • lol pawn

  • Comment removed

  • Lolll, not lucky but good. I'm starting to analyse chess games. Actually i'm not very good...

1300-1400... But i'm starting to learn more and more.

When i analyse my games, i see things that i can do next time etc. It's very nice to see are mistakes etc.

  • were do you play... on what site

  • @KevinBuis fics as per description =)

  • here's what happened

i was too lazy to search the other reactions so i immediately asked

then i got impatient after about 50 seconds without reply

so i search and found it anyways

but thanks for the quick reply... rely shows you listen to your vieuwers

i knew how to play chess for a long time but i actually got into the game a couple of weeks ago

im really enjoying the game analyses and live blitz games

shows me is capable of learning:D

  • Great finish!! That sac of the Bishop on c4 followed by b4 was superb...well done.

  • @chess1 Thanks...I was fortunate to have found it in the time scramble. =)

  • @LemonyDragon Yes...squeaked by indeed! Thanks for the compliment. I love the name! =)

  • nice job at the end with the rook sac!

  • @chesstino Thanks. I had to come up with something to make em' think!

    I appreciate the comment! =)

  • loving these LIVE blitz games w/ commentary as you play ;-)

  • @luitek Great! Glad you like. Please DO continue to comment/rate! =)

  • thats how you play an endgame ^^

  • @DarkLink6590 Best I could come up with in a losing position.

  • i need some help in chess please send me some videos!

  • @vs5799 I should be posting another soon.

  • Oh my god. Poor Boot, he should've got it. Awesome play for squeaking by with that one.

  • Thanks...yes...got lucky...aka squeaked by for sure.

  • I was sure you were going to castle long, and start a king-side pawn storm with black's dark-squared bishop, the usual defender of that structure, already out of the game. The black pawn on e4 looked unconfortable, blocking your fpawn for the moment, but even a minority attack with the g and h pawns supported by your rooks looked good.... And yes, getting control of the a1-h8 diagonal with your queen was definitely a good plan, but may have been easier with some king-side pressure to help...

  • Sometimes I've played that variation but with slightly different moves played on the black end. Good insight. =)

  • Thanks for uploading this game. Very Interesting. Keep them coming!

  • You're welcome. Keep your comments/ratings coming! =)

  • pretty good, tense game

  • Thanks. I appreciate the comment/rating. =)

  • Why not Pb3 at 4:50 out of 10:57

  • Was possible. Was just thinking of trying to be able to move my knight instead of protecting it.

  • I don't think you were outplayed at all...you were winning at the end

  • With some luck, yes I was winning at the end.

  • Good stuff! Fantastic way to push out videos quick and give people like me a fix! :P

  • btw, what chess client are you using that has premoves?

  • I'm using BabasChess.

  • Glad to provide a fix. =)

I really do appreciate the continued comments/ratings for the videos. =)

  • Would Ra3 be better than Qb3?

  • Btw, this was one EXCITING game. Never seen blitz like this. Commentary added on top, too. Very nice!

  • Thank you Robotman...I appreciate your continued comments/ratings. =)

  • I think so now that you bring it to my attention. Thinking back...at the time of the game, I gave that move no consideration. Nice alternative!

  • yea am still confused as hell, because this is what most sites explain what a self mate is!

"We continue with selfmates, in which white plays and forces black to give checkmate, while black is resisting to do so."

  • Yeah, I really don't know.

  • Nice game =]

  • Thank you Omeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed. =)

  • Lucky. But you played well having a bad position.

  • Lucky indeed. Thanks for the comment/rating. =)

  • Ok am having a problem understanding a selfmate in chess! I Know in a stalemate, the person that cannot make a possible move wins! But, What Happens in a self mate, does white win if it force black to mate it? I am beyond confused, really don't understand! Mind sharing info or some insight on the subject?

  • I think a selfmate is when you make the worst possible moves for one side so as to get checkmated as quickly as possible.

  • Hi i tend to play a bit wilder but perhaps thats one of the reasons im a bit behind in rating:)

Anyhow wasnt Qb3 offering queenexchange a little lame. It would be cool if its possible to get something going with Rd3 instead, trying to gain a few tempos on the queen and perhaps bring the rooks to the e and f files. Theres probably some huge drawbacks like leaving your pieces more shattered than ever but im not man enouogh to work it all out:)..

    Nice game and vid though:)

  • Lame, horrible, awful...it's the best practical chance I felt I had under the time constraints.

    Thanks =)

  • haha i remember when i played you you always play d4, then c3 ;)

  • I've played that a few times... =)

  • That was one of the coolest and luckiest endgames that I have seen in a long time.

  • Luck indeed! =)

  • K h6, Qh8+, Kg5, Qh4++

  • I think you should make another blitz game right now :), This one was awesome, I watched it like 10 times already! Man that was some awesome chess moves!

  • We'll see. Soon =)

  • Yea but it would still be an interesting match, since jrobi has beaten way higher ranked chess players than himself, so he still has a chance!

Yea still awaiting for his reply, I hope he replies soon!

  • Ok.

  • Nice video!

  • Thanks!

  • HAHAHAHAHA! AMazing game!!! please continue your postings... they truly are insightful!!! ^_^ Thanks!!!

  • Thanks. Please do continue to comment! =)

  • Well, I was thinking it would have to be best out of 3, since 1 win doesn't really prove shit, because you can get lucky as hell at times, and people make a blunder or two at times= mistakes!

  • Okay. =)

  • once again a great game, tho I don't like games with short time limit :P

  • I suppose you wouldn't like my favorite type of online time control. 1 minute games! =)

    Thanks for the comment/compliment. =)

  • Nice new style of video.

    Thanks Jerry.

  • Thanks ceeforic. I appreciate the comment/rating.

  • I think you and jrobichess, another chess you-tuber should face each other! I like your videos as well!

  • Others have suggested this as well. My reply is..."Are you going to be the organizer?" =)

    Thanks for the compliment/rating.

  • Hell yea ill be organizer, I've just pmed jrobichess, and waiting for his reply! Hopefully he replies within a week or so! This is gonna be a awesome match, probably a million views ++!

  • Wow. Someone actually taking it serious haha. =)

  • hehe, jrobi is only rated about 1500-1600

I think Jerry would have him beat :)

  • Could maybe do time odds. =) 5...2?!

  • I don't know what's more exciting, watching Favre lead his team down the field down 6 with 2 minutes left or watching your vids. You are a very kind and generous person for sharing your wisdom. I hope you live till 100+.

  • HAHA! That's the very first comment of its kind. Thank you. I look forward to more of YOUR comments! =)

  • Cool Game!

  • Thank you for the compliment/rating Bri! =)

  • This was awesome! Please do it again. I love how intense these blitz matches are!

  • Thank you. I enjoyed doing this type of video. Keep an eye open for the next one. I appreciate the continued comment/rating. =)

  • at 6:40, why not b3, protecting the bishop?

  • I wanted to eventually move my knight instead of keep him protected. As it turned out. Maybe that was better since the first opportunity I had to move him, he was captured! =)

  • good to see back Chessnetwork, where do you play?

  • Thanks. I played this game at fics.

  • Great video!

I'd love to see more live blitz video. Very interesting hearing your thought process throughout the match. Im waiting 4 the next one!!!

  • Thank you! I enjoyed doing it as well. Hopefully you'll get to see a game where someone is just clearly outplayed...either myself OR opponent...instead of luck! =)

  • Brilliant video!

  • Thank you for the compliment/rating Myleanne14. =)

  • sick ending, loved the bishop block... well done

  • Thank you. Yeah it was my only shot, even if it didn't work, it made em' think! =)

    Thanks for your continued comment/rating!

  • lol when im low on time i just move any piece that can move and i end up getting mated in a few moves

  • This happens to me sometimes too! Little time equates to poor decision making.

  • These are my favorite type of chess videos. Please make more Jerry! 8-)

  • Thanks for the feedback. I will be doing more. Keep an eye out for em'. I appreciate the comment/rating.

  • Nice. You are the first live commentary after kingscrusher that I found that actually has good diction :) Nice game here too, just goes to show that you shouldn't give up!

Btw I started a channel doing live commentary for the quake game check it out :D

  • Thank you for the very kind words. I viewed your channel. That's really neat to hear your thoughts as you play Quake. I must admit, I've been out of the video game loop for some time. I haven't been at it in forever. Namely since Goldeneye 007 for N64!! =)

  • Ah, me and a buddy used to play that all the time, memories... (Not sure if it was N64 or PC or something else, but the goldeneye game engine was ahead of its time)

I enjoyed your Kasparov vs Sting commentary. The other ones are excellent also. It gives great insight. Esoteric games like that with master commentary are both informative and entertaining!

  • Yes, the mulitplayer was very addicting! I still have some boards memorized, namely The Facility. I appreciate the compliments QP. =)

  • Great video! Make more please.

  • Thanks. I plan on it. =)

  • sweet that was awesome. really love that you're getting more active in video making i lovee watching them =]

  • I have the time for it now. Glad you enjoyed. I appreciate the comments you make to the videos. =)

  • Great job Jerry, normally in Blitz games I just throw in the towel and call it a game if I am in a losing position, but great comeback!

  • Thank you. Be resourceful/practical! =)

  • Nice game!

I really enjoyed watching this video :)

  • Thanks for the feedback Bulbapuck! =)

  • More movies like this please :) When you play and comment live. Really enjoyed it! Thanks.

  • Okay. I think I will be doing more. Thanks. =)

  • 4:19 You could have moved your A4 pawn to turn the pin

  • I'm not sure what you mean by "turn the pin".

  • See, he had YOU in a pin. If you'd a moved him, you'd have Turned the pin so you got him pinned.

And thats what I thought until I watched the video and realized I was wrong.

  • Yes, those pins hurt too! =)

  • Wow! Tose 5-min. games are just looney-quick as far as I'm concerned :D Now I know for real why my instinct was good never to take one up! :DD

But they are absolutely great to watch for a novice player like me -- the kind of spur-of-the-moment tactics you employ there would have been a rather elevated sort of strategy for me :)

So, I'll be definitely looking forward for more of them :)

BTW, congratulations on the win :)

  • It gets faster...bullet aka 1 minute games. =)

    Thanks for the feedback/compliment. =)

  • hey nice game!!! i think you should do more of these live games! really like em :)

    cheers!

  • Thanks for the feedback and continued comments! =)

  • After around 8:30 I thought you were done for :).

Great game Jerry from both you and booot, looking forward for the next one.

  • Yeah, I too thought I was done! =)

  • Please show a losing video if it ever happens

  • It happens. I'll be showing those as well.

  • Looking at the game again, what are your thoughts on the current situation at 7:00 if you were to move your h2 pawn up to put pressure on the knight?

  • My thoughts are Nf2+, winning my rook. I didn't see that as a good choice.

  • More :D!

  • Okay! =)

  • nice :)

  • Thanks! =)

  • You have a calm way of panicking . . . compared to let's say, Kingscrusher, who clicks and premoves like a madman when he's low on time.

They're both entertaining in their own ways :P. And don't feel bad about winning a lost game - hey, you both made mistakes, you just didn't make the last one.

  • A calm way of panicking..haha! That's true...I didn't make the last mistake. =)

Thanks for the comment/rating MR. =)

  • Always love blitz games from higher level players than myself! DO MORE PLZ! =D

  • Thanks. I plan on doing more. I appreciate the continued comment/rating. =)

  • I'm sort of new at chess, but at 5:30, wouldn't queen to D6 have been a good move?

  • Not so sure about that since after QxQ NxQ BxB NxR RxN I've given up my bishop and knight for a rook. It was worth the consideration though on my part. I overlooked such a possibility. Thanks for the comment/rating DC! =)

  • I would've expected him to retreat his queen rather than take yours, because you were defended. Is it possible for us to play a quick game some time? I really do need a lot of help on my game.

  • I'm ChessEducator @ FICS.

  • great game. is the rating system the official chess rating?

  • wow love the speed of your thoughts almost hard for me to follow lol GJ!

  • Is there a rewind button?! =)

  • Thanks for that video, interesting as usual.

Was a very strange opening choice on your part though, you clearly had the worst position around move 20 or so.

Nice tactics at the end with the passed pawn though!

  • You're welcome. Yeah, I know, the opening choice is offbeat for sure. Thanks for the compliment/rating. =)

  • I'm really excited that you're doing blitz. Watching live blitz with commentary is lots of fun and your explanations are the most lucid, bar none.

    Thanks for doing this!

  • Cool. Glad to know the videos come off like that. I appreciate you continuing to comment/rate. Many thanks your way. =)

  • I'd like to see a blitz match between you and the jrobichess guy.

  • @hotlilbabes

Kingscrusher (ICC) and ChessEducator would be a good match up. Kingscrusher is ~2200 on ICC. In this video, ChessEducator is 2157.

But as of today, jrobi's blitz rating is 1245. His best rating was 1299 (08-May-2009).

  • Yes, I'd like to see that match up as well. What I was thinking was that it'd be cool if both guys posted videos of their games together w/live commentary included.
