  • the stig is nuts

  • You didn't cut it at the end, do you!? WTF!?!?!?

  • song at 1:18 any one know ?

  • what episode is this?

  • I don't think we need C4, because C2 has got essential stability systems, that help a lot.

  • My dad Had Both of them, and I must say the Carrera 4 that he still drives and i have drove, drives smoother then the carrara 2. Both are great cars,I quess you just Need to drive both too find out. :)

  • funny stig at @1:40 hahah

  • I'm addicted to Top gear and I have never seen this feature before... Thanks for uploading :)

  • C2 is a better drive, but for the real world, with snow and bumps, the C4 may be better suited

  • He agrees that the Carrera 2 is still the nicer what?

  • i like the 4

  • drive a C4S then a C2, you will see a massive difference. The C2S is a much better car. also on a larger track and drag the C2S is way better, thats why you dont see any C4S at M5board.com's events. They are alot heavier i believe to house the AWD system or something like that, ive always prefered my C2s over the C4 versions.

  • @DRP996 You're right, RWD weighs a lot less than AWD when the engine is directly above the rear wheels. It makes a big difference in a 911.

  • Why did you cut? Jeremy was coming HAHAHAHA

  • the 4 is better

  • Nice how the crowd is quite magically appearing and disappearing.

  • Looks to me like the pitted a carrera 4S against a carrera 2. Notice the different exhaust? Not apples to apples

  • @jwblada yes it is...... the 4S is the AWD, the normal S is 2wd, the exhaust is about the only thing different, power is exactly the same..... the only difference is AWD and suspension to handle the additional weight

  • ermm.. the 4 has wider arches, so they don't look exactly the same..

  • very nice, you cut it just as jeremy was gonna say sth stupid about 911's :-)

  • so a c4 vs a c2 c4 has sport exhaust carrea s wheels (wider and lighter) and carbon ceramic brakes the c2 has the heavier steel brakes standard exhaust and heaver carrera design wheels not really a fair test

  • That was a 4S.. not a 4

  • @Drivr27 no it wasnt

  • Is it just me of the Stig's helmet looks a bit...different...?

  • and then Jeremy cames in to talk about endless about the veyron

  • turn on the subtitles it's hilarious

  • anyone notice whenever his Stigness drives the stadium goes empty??

  • DID YOU REALLY HAVE THE CUT IT WHEN JEREMY CAME!

    CMON... Not cool

  • what episode is this from

  • I have a 2s and its FAST! I know this video is just the standard 2 and 4 but if I had to take the carrera i would take 2 all day long

  • I drove a 4s and it was amazing.

  • Is the Stig a rally/drift man?

  • The lady at 2:22 was just about to get James May's autograph.

  • @demonddd2002 Run by Air

  • @ChubbyMcChuckle This is the episode where jeremy was racing hamster and slow in the Bugatti Veyron vs plane race, what Clarkson wanted to talk about the Bugatti at the end of the video.

  • Ceramic brakes only hold advantage under sustained high speed braking in hot conditions. For a car like that it's more a marketing gimmick.

Porsche factory sports exhaust does not, AFAIK, change the power output nor the torque curve.

The C4 has a wider body than the C2 & hence it's less agile.

  • Ok so we got that the carrera 4 is heavier, not as good through tight turns, but 1/2 a second quicker, and that "the stig says the 2wd version is still the nicer of the two". I still would have liked to see what Clarkson had to say. I know he doesn't like Porsches, but come on either he liked 1 more than the other or he just had something funny to say.

  • So the Carrera 4 [with non-standard sports exhaust] is half a second faster then the Carrera 2 [with standard exhaust].

How much faster/ slower would it be with a standard exhaust...??

    Anyone know?

Porsche mechanics / engineers / enthusiasts?

  • @melvin0808 well..the "sports exhaust" from porsche doenst delivery any extra power at all...dont take my word for it just read what the say on their own website asu chosse the "sports" as an option while configurating a car..it only add sound to it...and even if it did add any power, how many would it be? 5? 10ps? wich schouldnt do a minor difference agaist the rwd version that WEIGHTS almost 100 kilos less...so...

  • @melvin0808 An exhaust has absolutely zero to do with this test. It was the fact that the floor was slick and the AWD Carrera was much better at putting it's power down and getting out the bends faster, thus leading to a faster lap time. Think of it this way, what would be faster on a sheet of ice, my Subaru Outback or a Ferrari Enzo? My Outback. It's the same story here. Even if the C2 had gutted cats and no muffler, the C4 would have still beat it on this surface.

  • @melvin0808 It probably didn't make much of a difference if it even had any effect at all. If the Carrera 4 does have ceramic brakes then that is probably the reason it is faster.

  • @melvin0808 Porsche sports Exhaust (pse) does not have any HorsePower effect on the engine

  • Just wazz it on to 3:35.

  • Some say that this video ends at the exact moment it should !! and on that bombshell GOODNIGHT.

  • what is the opening song called?

  • @Oggy2007UK there also crap in the snow drove one today at work

  • Not a fair test. I presume if the the carrera 4 went first, the carrera 2 might have also posted a faster time too because the stig would have had a better feel of the circuit.

  • @whitecar8 It's likely that Stiggy would have had a few practice runs before the actual recorded run. You can be a professional but if you don't know the course or track you won't do well. 4wd will scoot away from the turns better but the 2wd will be more fun.

  • The 2 is more fun to drive, the 4 is to heavy, so the performance is ruined.

  • @srt10taylor yes, this was the episode with the bugatti veyron vs airplane, so he was about to budge and say: yes, yes, yes can I now please talk about the Bugatti!? And Richard says: oh god...

  • at the end clarkson was about to barge in with some nonsense

  • I buying a 911 carrera 4 next month :)

  • The Carrera 2S has unhindered steering l(not driven) so the steering feels more feelsome and "nicer" according to da man, Stig. I agree, I've driven both at length and the magical Porsche steering is somewhat diminished on the 4s. Still would give my left nuts for any of them though.

  • @respekted Wow... I don't know how far you've driven both, but I have a 2007 Targa 4S as my daily driver & it has the "magical Porsche steering" just as much as a Carrera S would (as I test drove both prior to my purchase). Maybe you could really tell the comparison. When I got the chance to drive the cars, I went onwards to really see if the 4S steering is actually diminished as most people say, but I didn't feel any bit of a difference on the streets of LA, even after having driven both hard.

  • @Setuber I drove a 2007 4s at length in Europe for a month with my buddy, who purchased it and had euro pickup. amazing trip that. I compare it to a boxster I had and under load the steering in the boxster gave a lot more feel and was more lively. Its to be expected really. Both great cars

  • @respekted That's fantastic. I, also having had a 987-2 Boxster S prior to the 4S... can easily say that the 4S or the 2S (whether Targa/Carrera/Cabriolet) are not able to reach the steering capabilities that the Cayman or Boxster can (under heavy load, as you mentioned) because the mid-engine layout Porsches are in a different league than the 911 (and secretly enough... the less expensive Porsches have much, much better handling and steering... they feel super light). However, both are a blast!

  • Stig said the 2 wheel car is still the nicer... what?! Car? Why?!

  • @YuanMizzle when stig say it is better, that;s mean it is BETTER

  • there is a reason why the engine is in the back...to get the power to the back wheels faster!

  • @UNDERRATEDMCS that;s true but not the main reason, the main reason is when the weight is directed at the rear wheel you get more grip. and better steering, and car will change direction easy.

  • @Lebanesefinest agreed

  • not fair, the 4 got the ceramic brake.

  • @iLoicQc how do you know it had ceramic brakes

  • @LPHGardinerRFC the yellow caliper .. thats mean ceramic.
