  • Keiner von den alten Recken dabei?

    Schade :(

  • Its so funny how you guys are saying the same stuff over like you did when stargate atlantis came out and later on liked it and now doing the same stuff over again for this show its very funny

  • i didn't say anything about atlantis, because when i start to like stargate atlantis was already canceled... and i loved atlantis at the first watch and a lot more than sg-1, especially the replicators saga, first strike and adrift are the best episodes ever

  • this show is based on Native American philosophy. If you new a little bit of native american history, you can see how they have copied it, yet stupid Europeans since they do not know any history of the western hemisphere, they just take it as its all new...but I can see it...first the land, then the philosophy

  • where could it be referenced? That is cool

  • look into mexican history...

  • well i think they will run into many bad guys and races on all of the planets they have to explore

  • Faster than light yet not through hyper space. No denying the ancients were the shit, or if we are lucky, ARE the shit.

  • What are you 12? Maybe you should just keep watching power rangers while the rest of us watch big boy shows.

If simple good vs evil is all you want then I think you'll be very disappointed. By the way I don't expect you to like BSG. I think it will be too much for your narrow mind to handle.

  • i'm 16 for ever... xP

well, power rangers got canceled lol xD but i keep watching the japanese verion..

anyway, stargate wasnt "big boy shows" stargate was adventure for... mid size boys (?)

and isn't that i'm just able to handle with simple good vs evil, the point is that i like stargate how it is, i dont want to see it becoming drama focus and no villains, i like villains like the goa'uld, i'm huge fan of them, and what make me like the franchise is this system of good vs evil adventure

  • they are changing the soul of the show, and it is bad

THIS IS NOT STARGATE at all, just carry the name...

they trow into the dumpster everything, almost everything they create

they should NEVER finish sg-1 or sga, that was perfect, and have yet a lot left to finish in the atlantis plot, why they decide to chose to change the fandom for people who like "reallife"?

and other kinds beside good vs evil are welcome, but the MAIN MUST be good vs evil, like on sg-1 and sga, its already part of sg

  • Yeah its not gonna happen. If this new direction fails which i very much doubt, then i see them just cutting their losses and just continuing with movies. But trust the writers and all those people that brought you sg1 and atlantis, they're smart and i think they know what they are doing.

  • i dont think so, if the fans really dont support this, they will be forced to put villains and back with more from sg-1 and atlantis latest formula

the problem are the soft fans who accept different things

we must demand our wishes as a goa'uld and make who dont agree suffer as slaves

    xD

    lol

i will send an email to them "i demand sga and sg-1 back! i'm your good! dont dare defy me!"

    LOL

ok ok the goa'uld are gone =(

  • I can't stand listening to Brad Wright talk. His blog is just a bad idea.

  • shakefossa,

Well, you can always switch off your tv and not watch.

I watched Atlantis even though I thought it was very ridiculous at times. SG-1 was more serious show and I liked the humour but in many cases Atlantis was plain ridiculous and boring (like the all girls team, 100s of plagues that plagued Atlantis, the stupid little princess episode, McKeller ???, McKay and Ronon stuff got boring over the time etc.)

I will watch SGU but if they make it less depresing than BSG, I'll be a big fan.

  • Indeed. SG-1 was better than Atlantis most of the time, and it looks like SGU will be more in line with the older show, if not even better. The cast looks better than Atlantis, the effects look better, the type storytelling looks better and the tone looks more interesting. I liked Atlantis but it was far too lighthearted at times, considering the situations. It had it's great moments, but a few a season don't make a brilliant show. I don't want to see another SG-1 lite, we had that with SGA.

  • Plus, the majority of reviews have been positive. In fact I don't think I've seen a truly negative review yet. That's a first for Stargate, for me at least. The premiere has even been called the best 3 hours of television that the SciFi channel have ever produced by one reviewer. It's said to have found that middle-ground between Star Trek and BSG, serious but doesn't make you want to top yourself by the end of the episode. If true, I expect this show to do very well.

  • its not the point of switch off my tv, its very far from reach my tv anyway, here sci fi channel (not syfy yet) is stuck on sg-1 season 8, and sga is airing as "new" season 5 on FX channel...

the point is that i'm already a fanboy from the series, since the last months (when i discovery the series aroung sg-1 season 6), and in a month i bought the whole atlantis dvds and now i'm importing sg-1, i really become crazy by the series, i even made my own system lord symbol!

  • so... i'm already connected with the series, make a new stargate who dont follow the same system is like... taking the series out of my taste...

i dont use to like something just for fun, i choose some series, to have, see, and do, everything about, and i dont use to like real life stuff, and i rarely like something, stargate sg-1 and sga have the exactly things that a series must have to fulfill to be one of my favorites franchise, like be a huge universe with a lot of seasons

  • so...

now i'm already explained (in a selfish way lol) my way to like things, lets go to the comparison

sg-1 and atlantis build a huge universe of ships, races, characters, techs, etc.. and the most important BAD GUYS

i agree with you about the boring episodes, but, and the great episodes? the battle of asuran? the atlantis being attacked by the replicator satellite and doing the thing more awesome that atlantis did, taking off! that scenes of weir on the explosion on the gate room..

  • and the scene of the rescue of general hammond and his yaahaaa on the death glider? and the attack of anubis on earth? and the siege of atlantis?

do you see some possibility to have those kind of things on sgu?

i dont, universe who should be even more over power and GROW with the series

just restart everything to do a survivor reality show with reality and drama crap on a ship

no more toilet ships, no more ha'tak, they cancel atlantis and sg-1 to do a disconnected booring series?

  • this is an offense for the fandom

if they make a parallel continuity for the franchise, with 3 city ships as a colony capital, make the stargate program public and go for the next step of the franchise, with worst villains, with the old complement drama of sg-1 and sga, (which must be just an add on, not the focus of the series) would be ok

but they shut down everything to do THIS?

  • the best seasons of stargate of me are sga seasons 4 > 3 > sg1 seasons 7-8 > 9-10

(- for at the same level)

btw, real life sucks and ships, hero and villains rules xD

    --

well thats it, i guess that who will like this will be random people who like drama and real life and serious series.. thats sad... but i will watch anything they put stargate on the name and buy as well... btw i want to buy some real props from the show... my dream is have some used on screen jumper on my backyard

  • Watch Battlestar Galactica and see how brilliant that show is and maybe that will put you mind at ease a bit about this new incarnation of Stargate.

Im a huge fan of Stargate as well man ( more than BSG) Ive seen all the episodes and I LOVE the mythology.

  • i guess that with the end of the episodes that i'm still have to see, its time to seek for BSG, i don't know which channel here broadcasts BSG, but i will check Hulu out since i'm paying for a VPN server to access US-Only content...

btw I ALSO LOVE (more than you xP lol) the mythology of Stargate, thats one of things i like more also, all the races and the connections beyond the races trough the galaxy (i really missed this on atlantis btw)

    thanks for the advice ^^

  • Yeah, I'd give SGU a chance - there will still be action, aliens (this time truly alien), connection to earth and the rest of the mythology (via the LRC) - and yes - more character development then in the other shows (but still nothing like Gray's Anatomy).

If done right, this show can be truly enjoyable - but I'll have to see for myself to decide :)

  • i'm still hoping that this will be just season 1, so they will regret and come back with all traditional hero vs villain and real sci fi stuff

sga also started a little... slow.. and got better trough season 3-4 (just ignoring filler episodes like sunday, harmony and other boring stuff)

    i really hope so...

  • Don't hold your breath...

There will still be aliens, space battles, and strange planets. In fact, these things will be better in SGU because they have a lot more money and they've said that because they are now so far away from Earth, the aliens the Destiny encounters won't be English-speaking, rubber faced aliens. They CAN'T have a main villain, because of the show's premise. The ship is always moving. It won't stay anywhere long enough to have an enemy race for more than about a season.

  • the ship is only a base anyway, its like atlantis with no way to be on siege, they can use gate and found territories, and those territory may have main villains

they do should have main villains, set by territories that they go out, and the villains at the beginning could even care to them, but later they should found an way to destiny

its like instead of focus a lot of seasons in the same villain empire, focus in a lot of them, but all main villain with the same complexity as the old ones

  • the problem anyway isn't the fact of no ONE main villain, but no huge villains

i like the goa'uld, the ori and the wraith, and the replicators, even the genni, because they have complete systems, their own army, some levels of ships

that is what i'm fraid miss on universe, bad guys with their own system, ships, armies, weapons, i dont want random villains neither the characters as villains, i want big bad guys, doesn't matter where or how much

  • and i like the classic clear definition of hero and villain

    sg-1, they are real heroes!

i dont want to see a team of normal people with no such division

the first thing that i do when i watch something is detect who is the bad guy and who isn't good guy, i really hate when they want to make people be the both, can have good guys who look to be bad

so, i'm not against the idea of dont have ONE bad guy, but i'm against dont have a outside and complete system enemy like we know

    which is possible!

  • having a lot more money doesn't equal great.

  • It means better sets, better CGI, better actors, better directors/consultants.

People like those things. A lot.

  • someone knows brad's blog or something? i want to say that this character drama and no bad guy bs is a terrible idea... very very terrible...

  • its called real life

  • So why watch scifi/fantasy? If you want real life watch a docu.

  • Not that there aren't some good documentary's but i would rather watch Stargate. That being said I don't think a bit of realism will ruin it.

I dont see this new approach as taking away but rather adding complexity. I would also mention again that this franchise has not been taken over. The same people that brought you SG-1 and SGA are working on this.

Guess we'll see though, its possible i may be eating all my words come Oct 2nd.

  • @ taurianfontenettefan: Indeed. I expect you're right about the adding complexity part, and the load of positive reviews that have come out back that up.

I've managed to convince 5 of the 7 people I've talked to to give SGU a try, they wouldn't usually watch Stargate but they think this looks better. People want shows like this.

If you want SG-1/Atlantis, there are 15 seasons for you. Time for something new.

  • normal people! not the real nerd fans of the show who would order their on goa'uld glove like me!

they are just changing the public from the sg-1 and sga fans to people who aren't fans

they dont care for the loyal people, they want people who watch for hobby, who turn the tv random looking for something, not for people who REALLY love the franchise

i agree with something new, in the same line, not another kind of show

they should at least keep atlantis alive

  • they can add complexity, like sg-1, have the second line of story, why dont take that part of the episodes to work this, but dont just take the MAIN plot and change the whole focus of the series, they can add things, but dont take out things like they did, and realism take the sci fi out, because they are opposite forces, and they must always make it gradually growing to the fiction side not to the realism side

  • The very best science fiction comes in the form of stories that show how humanity deals with these strange situations, it is supposed to be more about the characters. At it's heart, that is what sci fi is. It's about the good and bad of humanity and how these weird new things (aliens, robots, space) effect us.

BSG is actually closer to real, hard sci fi than most examples these days. SGU is harder sci fi compared to the more... fluffy sci fi of SG1, and the much more fluffy sci fi of Atlantis.

  • upset me, i hate this "no villain" "raise the characters who will be both villain and heroes" talk

serious, i like the old fashion way of hero vs villain system =/

i use to dislike things who try to make more real life and survivor character self drama crap

they are screwing up with the series, i want the tauri kicking ass with overpower armies against overpower enemies, new races, new situations, new REALLY SCI FI things

the idea of don't have a main enemy its ok, but should be a lot instead

  • It doesn't upset me, it just makes me want October 2nd to hurry up and get here. Thanks man

  • I didn't mean the viewers, I meant the people that this content is copyrighted to :)

But yeah, time slowed down a lot since I started waiting for October 2nd...
