  • Why does everyone freak out over whether they are a Christian band or not. They are just a fucking amazing band and that is the end of it!

  • Teppei's shit is turned down. WHYYYYY

  • That bass line is SICK!

  • These guys are fucken amazing. favorite song right here by far.

  • i am sorry but their new music is better in every way, not to say there old stuff doesn't kick ass

  • They sounded like MATCHBOOK ROMANCE ,anyone agree???? I love both bands especially the bass line of this song

  • @jeremyunderground41 i thought of 'lovers and liars' while listening to this..

  • Thrice!!! FTW

  • get off your genre-elitist high horses, get over yourselves, and listen to music to enjoy listening to music. Not to impress someone, not to be in a scene, not to have the biggest record collection, not to correct everyone's lack of knowledge on youtube.

this band is incredibly talented and always has been. their music makes me feel good and that's all that matters to me.

  • all of you out there trying to classify this music into the exact sub-genre of rock or punk or emo or whatever are missing the picture. everyone's so afraid of genres, so afraid to be associated with "emo" and "christian rock." stop worrying about all that shit and just listen to the music. This is a band that has developed and matured more than any band i've ever seen. I've followed them since before this record, and every album after it has gotten better and better.no one cares about the genre

  • this band is so fuckin badass!

  • the old stuff is classic... the new stuff is musical genius.

  • mmm son listen to that base riff. and guitar riff. and drums. and vocals!

  • glad theyve changed. the last two recs are really good. the older material just sounds like us-emo-shit

  • @lostandwounded The older material isn't ANYTHING like us-emo-shit, it's everywhere-post-hardcore-goodmusic

  • @lostandwounded Actually, they're old stuff Is Thrash Punk. Get you're genre's together bud.

  • this album should've went 1000X diamond riaa certified... just shows that majority of people like crap

  • as for the intro, the easiest I have on my pedal board is with my Line 6 DL 4...

I forget what the setting is called but it's the furthest turn right(possibly reverse delay) i believe and you cut off all attack, and lots of feedback so the sound swells

  • delay and modulation

  • 5 stars

  • is dustin's intro sound created by natural feedback or is there some synthie-tinkering going on? i've read that he's into modeling so... any ideas?

  • those are just volume swells

  • @DerSchlaueBaer do you know what an e-bow is? when i play this song i use one for the intro with a lot of reverb, it sounds just like the intro, but i'm guessing the two of them are harmonizing using those.

  • @DerSchlaueBaer pick the note, turn up the volume. make sure the volume is all the way down when u pick the note

  • All their old music was the best!.. The new stuff is okay... But this..... This is THRICE!!!

  • their old stuff was actually pretty brutal, the drummer especially

it wasnt until the artist in the ambulance that it actually started sounding like music

  • @l0verb0y91

The new stuff on Beggars has a little bit off other Sound but i rocks, you know!

I found this is defenitly the best Thrice Album after "The Artist in the Ambulance"!

  • @l0verb0y91 +1000

  • their new stuff is much better...just my kind of taste, folks

  • Their new stuff is better. They've evolved so much though. TAITA and IOS are still classics though.

  • I love watching a band actually change and evolve. I hat when people say "it doesn't sound like their old stuff". If you want to hear their old stuff then listen to it. I like getting something new and different every album (as long as the band has the talen/range to do it, which Thrice does).

  • amazing performance

  • Dustin sounds awesome in this video. dead on every note.

  • i was in love with this song way before i saw the movie pi, and yeah, i definitely dove into all of the possible interpretations of the lyrics, and they really are beautiful in that sense. However, some of the imagery used in the song seems too obscure to NOT be a direct reference to that movie. Like i said, watch the movie and everything about this song just opens up and explains itself. i seriously watched that movie for the first time and it was just too obvious.

  • for all of those uneducated people out there that keep saying the lyrics are christian and from the bible, you're pretty wrong. The song is a direct reference to the movie Pi. The opening line is "when i was a little kid, my mom told me not to stare into the sun. Once when i was six, i did." the whole movie is about trying to find a secret meaning to the number Pi. He consults theaorists, religeous exports (saints and scholars), etc. watch the movie and read the lyrics. You'll understand.

  • not necessarily the only meaning that can be derived. its also kind of a reflection of yourself, and really wanting to know who you are, and what your purpose is

  • I think I read somewhere in Alt. Press (when Vheissu was coming out) that this song was about a crisis of faith. I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain that that theme was mentioned for this song.

  • @xAFallFarewellx I think this song is about making a tough desision and you look up in teh sky (god) looking for the awnser

  • @DreamStereo U do realize taht they are christian and make references to god in thier songs, but they are not a christain band

  • @tweakrenegade you say they're not a christian band as if them being associated with christian bands is a bad thing. Whether or not they make references to their love life, movies, or their particular faith or lack-there-of or whatever, shouldn't change their classification as a group. It's a shame that the term "christian band" has such negative connotations to it that make people have to reassure you that the band that writes christian songs isn't labeled as a "christian band."

  • @somedrumz they can talk about god and still no tbe a christian band.

  • @tweakrenegade i know. that's what i'm saying. lots of bands talk about their religion, but everyone's afraid of the whole "christian band" thing so you have to make sure i people know they're NOT a christian band.

  • @somedrumz oh ok thanks for clearing that up for me

  • ssx3 kicks ass, great song too

  • This song is perfect *__*

  • this track is very beautiful

  • this song was on ssx3.

  • I think its on ssx3 not sure tho

  • these guys are the best no one can beat them

  • lol ppl were beating the shit out of each other in the crowd. love Thrice GO IRVINE BANDS RAGE AND THRICE!!! FUCK YEA!!

  • the best bass line ever in post-hardcore song

  • thats how rock music should sound like, awesome

  • Where can I get a link to download this song?

  • look for a thing called youtube downloader online, and you can download the video and then convert it to mp3

  • or just go to "file2hd" it's faster it's a website were they make the video to hd and lets you download it just get the url to the video and put it at the website

  • Comment removed

  • Or you could buy the album :)

  • i don't recall this song sucking in ssx so much

  • you cannot put them into a category, they are profoundly unique

  • yes you can they are post hard core hah

  • It's Good Rock Music with countless influences. Hence the fact that it's Thrice. =)

  • perfect

    Love this song

Love thrice in this years, now theyre sill good but softer

  • anyone who thinks of Thrice as "emo" is an idiot for three

    - No offence to any other modern rock/metal bands, but Thrice owns them all

-Thrice's lyrics cover too many topics for them to be labelled emo. Most of their tracks are about our human flaws and humanity, and aren't self-pitying like "emo" groups are considered to be.

    - All music is emotional, so if you think they're emo because of that, then you may as well call the Beatles emo.

  • um, neh. thrice = wayyy more talented than both bands.

  • you like elliot easton, your point is invalid

  • are you fucking retarded!?!? arctic monkeys is no more than generic indie shit in which one chord is repeated over and over again while basic, meaningless lyrics are chanted over the top. how in any way shape or form is that better than this?

  • finaly someone agree's with me i dont hate the artic monkeys but there music bored me to death thrice is so much more influencial and plus well its thrice so they are the best

  • thrice lyrics are christian...

  • Haha wrong. Your an idiot.

  • nope. straight from the bible

  • the instramental part is definatly metal, but the lyrics are kind of emo, but yeah, i consider them to be more metal.

  • i hear no emo nor metal.

  • neither emo or metal. just really good rock music. and if all introspective lyrics with shitloads of metaphors is emo, then john lennon is an emo kid.

  • post hardcore no doubt would't go as far as to say that its emo but a lot off the stuff off this album is post hardcore and then the next album to come out was by far leachin over into the emo section!

  • LOL! I've seen this video tons of times, but never noticed the crowd surfer taking his shoe back! I was always told to take a crowd surfers shoes whenever they came by!

  • this is emo?.. i like the song xD my favorite song is "image of the invisible" ^^

  • its post hardcore

  • Spam yourself dude!! Chie sur les video des autres mais c'est moins drôle quand c'est sur le sien...

  • they aren't emo dumb ass

  • in my eyes there is no "emo"!

emo music is when the text is about feelings (emotions) but there are soooo many songs that have emotions in it... nearly every song would be emo then...

  • my dear friend this isn't emo! emo is way more sad. this is just some real good punk. maybe even harcore punk.

please don't about this you don''t know en never will understand! ;)

  • You're all missing the point. Instead of arguing the genre of it just appreciate that it's good music. Who cares what it is...

  • yeah! guess you're right! ;)

  • yeah the bass is pretty fuckin deisel. it torques on kids everywhere.

  • check my bass cover , i only did the hard part ;)

  • man this song gave me chills live!

    seen them once.

gonna see them again oct 30 at SDSU

    woot woot!

  • i was there! :P yeah man thrice was sick, i was hoping they'd play stare at the sun but w/e. concert was awesome. i was in section T, but incredibly jealous of anyone who got floor access.

    chyeah.

  • this song isnt hard...

  • i can do the bass of this song :D its ownin!

  • haha same!

its no bad, crazy tuning tho so don't get round to playing it much!

  • Wow. Awesome live.

  • FUCK! Teppei can play that ultra-tricky riff AND sing at the same time! That's harder than just plain shredding!!

  • its not that hard of a riff, but it is hard as hell to do that AND aing and harmonize at the same time

  • esta cancion en ssx3!! era dios!! junto con yellowcard.. bua cuantos años

  • mich todd own this bassist!

  • No way man all of the stuff he plays is easy peasy compared to this! (...that's the coheed guy right?)

  • yes thats is the coheed guy :P

but have you seen coheed and cambria live? I just love the fucking bass, is is so technical and hardcore ^^

  • mic todds better, but eddies one of my fave bassists too. i have a vid of no world for tomorrow up on my page, and granted stare at the suns slightly more complex, but Mic Todd edges it. Thrice are class tho!

  • man, the bassist rocks!!!

  • Tepe R U L E S!!!

  • yeah it was. how did you know that? i love that game!

  • If this song was anymore badass the Earth would fuckin explode

  • Agreed

  • glorious!

  • this is the first song i heard from them. i have the cd. i first heard it on a video game

  • by any chance was it SSX3 u heard this from?

  • LOL the first time i heard them was on tony hawks american wasteland and it was image of the invisble. i bought vheissu and then fell in love with thrice

  • is the intro made with delay and a volume pedal?

  • Just volume pedals, Dustin and Teppei offset it from each other by half a beat or so in this.

  • kinda sounds like a goAL horn for hockey hahaha (the intro)

  • Best band ever! Looks like Dustin shops at Northern Getaway.

  • sehr geil!

  • this performance is amazing, but it's amazing how much they have improved and matured in the past couple years. i like the new look for teppi, and his voice got deeper which i like the sound of.

  • this song is just ridiculusly good (dustins shirt is freaking sick too)

  • wow... didnt think they can perform live THAT good... im really impressed; nice one

  • Sounds fucking fantastic live...

  • i just now realized the guitar chourus and the bass verse parts are exactly the same! ha

  • hey yeah

  • yep yep yep

  • kikass song from an awesome live band...

  • That bassline is insane

  • greatest song ever.

    thrice dominates this song live.

    teppei is the shit.

    game over.

  • I love this performance!!!

  • this entire song is sick

  • The bass is SO SICK!!! - Pilum Viris

  • amo

    te

  • te

    amo

  • they sound so good live!! you can tell it isn't lip syncing though

  • why would you assume a band like thrice would even lip sync ahah

  • dude this isnt country !

  • Just another band I would have never heard of if it wasn't for fuse...in the beginning when fuse was good.

  • this is amazing

  • thrice has always been amazing. anyone listen to dustin kensrue's solo cd? It's country-esque...I hate country, but I loved Dustin!

  • same here, i find country dull and stupid but dustins CD is just pure magic!

  • haha why do people mosh to this? too damn amazing i'd rather just listen.

  • never noticed the crazy bass riff

  • funny...why is this comment marked down?....dude was making an observation. LONG LIVE THRICE

  • thanks man

  • my fav thrice song..they perform well!

  • amaziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice guit riff too.

  • Holy shit they are good.

  • that bass riff is so fuckin sick

seeing them in a month (:

  • fuck bag, whats good to you? jeffrey star? suck my dick, thrice pwns anything you fucking listen to

  • that bass line in the begining verse is fucking crazy

  • Teppei doesn't have the best voice ever, but would you rather have a great lead guitarist that can't sing well, or a great singer that can't play lead guitar very well?

  • whoever hasnt heard of thrice should just die. they are waaayyyyy too good to be unknown!!

  • i was at this show. november of 2003 with the deftones. thrice were fucking amazing.

  • outstanding

  • somebody give me a perfect tab of the bass or chorus guitar. same thing

  • waterispoison dot com

  • emo guitarist is freaking hot!!!

  • supaemogrl u are way to steriotypel sry for my bad spelling how is teppei emo cause he has black hair that covers part of his face... well yeah that doesnt make him "emo"

  • wow i like it!!!i found out about this song on my ssx3 game

  • Pretty much all of those who have invested themselves into this arguement is ither miseducated or just plain ignorant and they hav'nt the knolage to argue a valid point. First off, there is no sound method beyond lip syncing that can ensure the vocalist hits every note. Secondly, Thrice has never been and will never be a "punk rock" band. Real punk rock consisted mostly of blatantly terrible sounding vocals and it's really not hard for a vocalist to trump punk rock vocalists of the past.

  • i love people who can't spell and then try to formulate an argument.

#1. Sound technicians won't be able to make anyone sound like Dustin.

#2. If you look at any venue, he is always right on top of those damn vocals.

    #3. Kill yourself.

  • Wow seriously ive never seen a better live voice...

  • your tone deaf
