Thomas Hearns after KO victory in 09 called out Jones and Hopkins I mean cmon why isnt that happening and wtf is up w klitschkos sayin they wnt fight evander cause hes a legend.. hes ranked 6 global and who else toney should get a shot too on w/l alone. JCCjr needs to fight alvarez. All these fights could be easily made and would be mega fights as bhop proves age dnt get in the way of entertaining fights. Who else??
hopkins also has a great resume, roy jones jr, lupe aquino, joe lipsey, john jackson, glen johnson, simon brown, robert allenm antwun echols, syd vanderpool, keith holmes, felix trinidad, carl daniels, oscar de la hoya, howard eastman, jermain taylor, antonio traver, joe calzaghe, kelly pavlik, jean pascal, some really good contenders in this list, and he was the first to beat trinidad, chad dawson will be on this list if he wins.
calzaghe is kind of under and overated by many, chris eubank, juan carlos gimenez, robin reid, rick thornberry, david starie, omar sheika, richie woodhall, mario veit, will mcintyre, charles brewer, charles brewer, tocker pudwill, jeff lacy, peter manfredo, mikkel kessler, bernard hopkins, roy jones jr, some great names and contenders, all were in the top 10 when he fought them.
Roy in his prime was the best fighter that ever lived! Hands down! American or not, undefeated or not! Roy has no skills..hahaha watch the resume of rjj and see how creative he was knocking mf's out! Joe is a great fighter as well, maybe could have beat Bhop but would have gotten exposed by Roy! I agree that Roy don't kno wen to stop but that shows his passion. He don't do it for the money but the love of the sport!
Even here, one can see that Jones can'box and relies strictly on his reflexes. Stupid country bumpkin never learned the fundamentals. What an embarrassment to the sport with his chicken-fighting defensive crap. Never liked Jones or his music.
@jurdoc11 like him or not he did win 8 world titles in 4 weight classes and KO'd a lot of so called talented fighters.
Roy can fight and he's proven it time and again. As for Stupid country-bumpkin,well he is one fighter that didn't allow Don King to ruin him and his finances, thanks to Fred Levin.
@jurdoc11 no doubt he violated the fundamentals because he had freak speed that allowed him to, but he could throw some impressive combos and he had good slipping abilities, but there are certainly much greater technical boxers, Jones was a superb athlete, quick, agile, powerful with great reflexes, technically he had moderate skills
@CorneliusHooter got his fuckin ass handed to him cause b hop and roy jones in their prime are many levels above calzaghe its a joke to even talk about comparing them
fact of the matter is calzaghe wanted a fight with jones and hopkins when they were prime, before either lost their respective titles, but they didnt want him because he was too risky baring in mind he wasn't a big enough name at the time. then when their careers went down hill somewhat, they called calzaghe out,and he obliged.he beat them comfortably and retired unbeaten. many great fighters lose over their careers because they had one or two off nights, joe never did. 46-0 baby!
in how many fights that don't involve calzaghe do you hear the term "work rate"?
his fucking wop father went on and on about how many punches he throws in a round--never mind that none of them mean shit--and the judges were influenced by the shrieking limey idiots in the crowd.
hopkins had one of his worst performances, and calzaghe does deserve credit for forcing the action.
roy jones in his prime would knock calzaghe the fuck out, and hopkins would have handled him in a rematch
Joe calzaghe wasn't in his prime either, don't know why people have to be such bitches. Roy lost on the night, get over it. Maybe he would have won in his prime maybe he wouldn't, Joe went 46-0 he was a great boxer, so was Roy, but Roy lost that night. Whatever! no one realy gives a shit what the haters say, well done Joe fuck the whining bitches, you beat Roy fair and square and that cheating punk hopkins! You beat younger upcomers, older veterans and all the legends they could throw at you!
@pennthebaker joes punches were fucking shit and we all know hopkins should have won and is still hanging around with the titles unlike cocaine joe lol
@pennthebaker undefeated doesnt mean all what its worked out to be or they would all be ranked #1 all time but instead joes ranked wel below bernard and roy it really isnt even close
@wreakyourface I'm not claiming that he is or would be ranked higher than either Jones or Hopkins. He did, however, know when to hang his gloves up unlike Jones who refused to quit and continues to embarrass himself plus he defeated both of them and with style, PLUS he finished up having never dodged anyone and never been beaten. I love how you say Hopkins will always be better than Joe....... even though they had a fight and guess what....... Oooooh Joe won! So not always gonna be better then.
The way to beat jones is wait untill he does that cocky shit and fixes his shorts then send a right hand to his face followed by a left to his liver and come up the middle with a left uppercut and another right hand if hes still there. Respect to Jones but I cant stand that fucker LOL
For all of Roy Jones physical gifts, he never really was good technically. When they got older both Roy & Bernard's reflexes and speed slowed down but Hopkins is so technically better that he was able to preserve himself to be a top fighter, even at he age of 46 (Bernard is well older than Jones and Calzaghe).
IMO Both Jones and Hopkins wouldve beat Calzaghe in their primes and I though Hopkins beat Cal when they fought.
Neither of these two could beat Joe. Honest. Put either one in a ring with Calzaghe and Joe would win I reckon. Just my opinion of course. Not saying that I'm RIGHT or anything.... How could we ever find out???
@croesrob In their primes, Calzaghe would have no chance against either. Joe relied on hand speed and fast combos and would be deficient in that regard against both Hopkins but especially against Jones. He fought both when they were way, way past it and still had problems with them. I can imagine how he would have fared had they been tip-top (i.e. Calzaghe would've gotten blasted).
@Kedbuka You're going on about how calzaghe would've lost if they were in their prime but don't forget calzaghe fought and won whilst he wasn't in his prime either. None of them were, yet joe still won. He was a seriously fit and technically sound boxer his entire career who was never defeated and had near enough the highest work rate of any boxer i can think of...... what more does he need to do. I bet it's because he's not american that you're hating.
@pennthebaker I have no problem saying Calzaghe was a very accomplished fighter. He beat everyone they put in front of him and very few championship fighters can make that claim. But my point was that in their respective primes, Calzaghe would never, ever have beaten either Jones or Hopkins, especially Jones. RJJ may have been the greatest fighter ever, and easily rates as one of the top 5 talented fighters of all time. And Hopkins was just a shade below him. Calzaghe is not in that category.
@Kedbuka I agree with some of those points but all i can say is he beat them both. Not one but both, and beat bernard hopkins whilst he still claims to be amazing. Joe has been around a long time and as i said he also wasn't in his prime. So it isn't as if he had any advantages either. You're arguing over something that can't be proved only guess work, the only thing that can be proved was that he remained undefeated. Not to mention i wouldn't write joe off in his prime against either in theirs.
@ScionAscendant Do you not understand the phrase "respective primes"? If they were all at their best, Calzaghe would've been picked apart with relative ease by RJJ and beaten up by Hopkins. That's my opinion. And it's only an opinion, nothing more.
@Kedbuka Ah, my mistake. I thought you meant respective as in either Jones or Hopkins. I think they would be good fights regardless of the outcome at least. Calzaghe was vastly underrated his whole career by American pundits.
@ScionAscendant I agree, Calzaghe was underrated over here in the US. But RJJ was a once-in-a-generation talent and it was hard to overstate his skill level. He was unbelievably quick with underrated power. And BHop was a terrific fighter himself. Not as great, but fantastic nonetheless. IMO, Calzaghe could not match that sort of class.
@Cowarrdzaghe well i beg to differ. even if they had it easy pretty much of all of Calzaghes opponents werent even known. still arent as a matter of fact.
@danishsatire CAlzaghe!!!!! what are you smoking hes not even a entertaining boxer to watch i know he beat these niggas, but you can't enjoy watching his fights he throws slap punches, and has a weak chin Jones and B-Hop droped him in the first round and they where retired.
@freewee21 Joe Calzaghe is an alltime great, quote Sugar Ray Loenard. ps Jones jnr knocked down Calzaghe with illegal punch, he hit him with heel of the glove! FACT
@dan32113 "Jones jnr knocked down Calzaghe with illegal punch"joe moved down into his arm!Fact.it isn't jones fault joe was scared to get hit in the first round of both fights, that he got hit.be he won the fight, just not in raw fashion though.
@Mujahidboxing Reason being, Bernard was in prison and lost his Boxing license. Roy didnt want to face him because he felt he was a nobody. Bernard had to work his way back up the ranks and when he did Roy was in the Heavy Weight division. The idea of them boxing again was Roys idea. Im a Roy fan but get your facts straight.
Roy jones was on top of the world back on the days. The unbeatable. The invincible. The indestructible. That was until an unknown retarded guy named Tarver came along and derailed jones career.
im fans Bernard Hopkins,,beside Roy Jones,,that's a dificult choice when they will fight,,Bernard versus Roy,,hmmm....I bet for Bernard,,hope Bernard will execution Roy,,because that will be last fight for Bernard
both of these are 2 of the greatest Boxers of all time, the bad thing is they're both trash talker. They're lucky coz they're both too far to be able to face Pacman, RJ have fast hand punch but hes only an orthodox, BHop is great if we're talking on punch accuracy, power and defense, Pacman is an ambidextrous fast handed boxer, amazing footwork, great defense and ironically hes the most humble compare to all p4p boxers you can ever met
money pacman from the Philippines the land of the humble, brave, strong & intelligent people.. the best boxer in world history nobody even in the future could duplicate or come close to his feat ( ALI, tyson, mayweather are mere footnotes to his gigantic pages in history ) & what he accomplice in life specially his 8 world titles in different divisions.. a living legend at that !!! MABUHAY PILIPINAS!!!
this balck eat shit! got beatin both by thE living legend , older but stronger than any of these mf nigger... no other than " JOE CALZAGHE"THESE TWO ARN'T LEGEND....
@kkorojo these two r legends u dick lol who is calzaghe? and why didnt he face these two when they were in there prime? no one knew of calslappy until he decided to fight b-hop and rjj when they were already past their prime.....also who has he fought besides these two legends who were already past their prime when he fought them? lol
@heavyduty211 Thats because none of them would fight him or give him a chance for years, remember what Hopkins said,"aint no white boy gonna beat me," well Bernard, he did
@TheAngelus1898 More like Calzaghe was fighing nobodies in Wales. The dude pulled out of fights with Glen Johnson three times, so why would he fight Roy or Hopkins?
@TheAngelus1898 hopkins will allways be better then joe no one in the right mind would say joe is better than hopkins watch the last round of the fight joes own father knew he was loosing and told him he needed a knockout
pnutbutrncrackers@ the rematch was a mess they were both complaing like little children take 60/40, 50/50 blah blah like little kids, i pesonally wud have like to have seen a rematch but oh well it never happened
@Cowardzaghe That's where I start to read about how many people were never fafgy Jones fans in the first place. That's where we get to see Jones napping in the ring so many times in the last five years..
@2010MujahidBoxing Jones was very, very fast. He also always cam e prepared. But ther were two fighters he failed to fight when all three were at the top of their games: Joe Calzaghe and Dariusz Michalzcewski. While I think RJJ probably would have beaten both of these guys, it was no sure thing. Ray Robinson fought EVERYONE in his division. There were no evasions, there isn't one guy from his era you can say he should have fought but didn't. We can't say that about RJJ.
Yeah,Bernard didn't want top deal with the lost.Even when they finally did meet again this year, Bernard used allot of under handed tactics to get the win.
@2010MujahidBoxing actually brother Bernard never ducked RJJ. I too am a fan of Roy's but I think Bernard was the better fighter of the two. Bernard beat Tarver at 41 when Jones couldn't at 36.
B-Hop has the heart of a warrior. At 45 years of age and still drew to 28 year old Jean Pascal (the current WBC, IBO and Ring Magazine Light Heavyweight Champion). This is the guy who beat Chad Dawson, who whooped RJJ twice!
@supergunman64 Jean Pascal said that his boxing idol was Roy Jones Jr. and they never fought against each other. If Bernard wins a Heavyweight title then I would consider him better than Roy Jones. I would also pay a 100 times more to see a Roy Jones fight than a Bernard Hopkins. More than half of Bernard's fights are pretty boring. Roy Jones had unbelievable speed and no one could have stopped him in his prime.
@supergunman64 Age has nothing to do with it. Some people peak faster than others while some age like cheese and fine wine. Roy's decline happened to come before Nard's, and was much faster. If they would have fought in 2002 at their respective peaks as #1 and #2 pound for pound, Roy takes it again unanimously.
@2010MujahidBoxing Nope, It was the other way around. Jones arrogance is the reason they never faced again until years later. Roy Jones never wanted to fight him at a catch weight, He wanted Hopkins to move all the way up to light heavyweight for the fight. That definitely would have given Roy the advantage. Personally, I just thought roy was scared.
Well done to roy jones jr he was a true champ, bernard the pussy waited anutha 15 years to fight him ? why didnt he just to super middlweight or light heavyweight to fight roy jones jr when he was the undisputed champ ill tell u why because he was ducking him until he got like an old man!
@guitdude09 I wish everyone would do the same thing to you and that disturbing looking pumpkin shaped melon head,so how many dudes did you blow today inside the glory hole that you cut out in the public bathroom down the street?
Calling all ROY HATERS!!!!!! Jump on board here and have some fun... tell the dickriders their negro hero ain't shit. Let em know that Jones has alway been overated. Always sidestepped comp until something was wrong w/them and when he misjudged the detriment of some other fighter, he got his ass handed to him every time. He never had anything but speed. It woukd take him way too long and way too many punches to hurt somebody. Roy, you are a weak minded promoter dickriding ho.
@drummerforreal1 beanz2u from the moon landing vid's has blocked you now thanks to me haha, how many people have blocked you now Jeff the Janitor, i dont mean the ones i've done, but the ones you've done yourself through hate speech and trolling little kids about cartoons and such, you're a sick 59 yr old Janitor.
Boxers never the same after being knocked out the first time Tyson,Judah,Jones Jr. There are plenty more. Jones was the best at what he did in his division. Yeah he did go to light heavyweight, but he wouldn't have been a great heavyweight. He didn't have competition. So he didn't train as he should have. And i agree he shouldve just laid it down.He still my favorite boxer of alltime.
Hopkins is a great on his way out, I think he should retire now. Jones was a legend years ago but has gone down hill fast, it is sad that he is still fighting.
all u turds dissing calzaghe , calzaghe has not been in his prime since he turned about 30 but he still managed to grind out victories against the finest fighters the weight class had to offer , maybe if he was around 10years earlier things may have been different but he was still the best "THE BEST" of his time

That was until an unknown retarded guy named Tarver came along and derailed jones career.

both of these are 2 of the greatest Boxers of all time, the bad thing is they're both trash talker.

Man jones was unstoppable in his prime theirs a reason why bernard faced him so many years later
2010MujahidBoxing 1 year ago 36
@2010MujahidBoxing
Yes, the reason is that RJJ wouldn't give him a rematch.
pnutbutrncrackers 1 year ago
@2010MujahidBoxing Jones was very, very fast. He also always cam e prepared. But ther were two fighters he failed to fight when all three were at the top of their games: Joe Calzaghe and Dariusz Michalzcewski. While I think RJJ probably would have beaten both of these guys, it was no sure thing. Ray Robinson fought EVERYONE in his division. There were no evasions, there isn't one guy from his era you can say he should have fought but didn't. We can't say that about RJJ.
MekongMambo 1 year ago
@2010MujahidBoxing
Yeah,Bernard didn't want top deal with the lost.Even when they finally did meet again this year, Bernard used allot of under handed tactics to get the win.
ESSENCEOFEACHTHING 1 year ago
@2010MujahidBoxing erm... Bernard was old too when he fought him? idiot
sonicwewe 1 year ago
@2010MujahidBoxing actually brother Bernard never ducked RJJ. I too am a fan of Roy's but I think Bernard was the better fighter of the two. Bernard beat Tarver at 41 when Jones couldn't at 36.
B-Hop has the heart of a warrior. At 45 years of age and still drew to 28 year old Jean Pascal (the current WBC, IBO and Ring Magazine Light Heavyweight Champion). This is the guy who beat Chad Dawson, who whooped RJJ twice!
supergunman64 1 year ago
@supergunman64 roy beat hopkins in their prime and took his belt and he did beat tarver that's why they fought 3 times
727Superstar 1 year ago
@supergunman64 Jean Pascal said that his boxing idol was Roy Jones Jr. and they never fought against each other. If Bernard wins a Heavyweight title then I would consider him better than Roy Jones. I would also pay a 100 times more to see a Roy Jones fight than a Bernard Hopkins. More than half of Bernard's fights are pretty boring. Roy Jones had unbelievable speed and no one could have stopped him in his prime.
fsfegserghrh 1 year ago
@supergunman64 Age has nothing to do with it. Some people peak faster than others while some age like cheese and fine wine. Roy's decline happened to come before Nard's, and was much faster. If they would have fought in 2002 at their respective peaks as #1 and #2 pound for pound, Roy takes it again unanimously.

@2010MujahidBoxing EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!
ChrisiSB3AST 11 months ago
@2010MujahidBoxing Nope, It was the other way around. Jones arrogance is the reason they never faced again until years later. Roy Jones never wanted to fight him at a catch weight, He wanted Hopkins to move all the way up to light heavyweight for the fight. That definitely would have given Roy the advantage. Personally, I just thought roy was scared.

And i agree he shouldve just laid it down.He still my favorite boxer of alltime.
shodown11 1 year ago
Hopkins is a great on his way out, I think he should retire now. Jones was a legend years ago but has gone down hill fast, it is sad that he is still fighting.
