    He's using a smith machine for some safety, because you can swing the weight any way you want, animal or not an injury still takes you out and thats not something he wants.

  • behind the neck presses r the best for building mass because they put the majority on the stress on the side head of the deltoid which is the thickest part, giving u the appearance of bigger shoulders; whereas front presses and dumbell presses hit mainly the front delts. The problem with behind the neck though is that it puts a lot of stress on ur neck and ur rotator cuff though, so i wouldnt advise going heavy on them if u have shoulder issues

  • @eyeofmason but if you want to work the side delts its alot better to use side laterals after or before. behind-neck press is a big no no

  • @Spongerking45 I almost stopped using dumbell shoulder press and switched to smith mac and noticed i got a lot stronger with bigger shoulders so id say smith machine.

  • We have an old smith machine like that the bar alone is 80 pounds. Its not counter balanced. This guys a beast.

  • @landlifter absolutely,..but machines though do have there place..for example if your looking to push a little more blood into that particular muscle group so you can get a better pump then thats what a machine id for..its especially good if your 40 years old or above as you can save alot of joint pain doing half free weight training and half machine weight training

  • @landlifter ..it reallly depends what your doing..but heres my point without beting the bush..if you want mass and cuts,..FREE WEIGHTS are king..BUT if your 1 to 3 weeks out of a show and all you want to use is machines so you wont sabotage the growth and cuts you made along the way then thats the way to go..THERE IS NO exact way or method to this.

  • @landlifter also machines in reality all they do is help you push the weight where in essense you can lift 160 pounds curling on the machine.. but in free weights you might only be able to do 120 pounds because you are forced to STABILIZE IT..and use alot more muscle if standing up..machines all you really need to do is push the weight when you think about it ..hopefully i answered your question to the best of my ability.

  • @landlifter Ya, because free weights don't limit your ROM like machines do. I feel like a retarded robot when i use machine lol.

  • I love this gym. everythings old school most bars have slight bends in them. Like a dungeon. And no background music. I hate my gyms music!! Ever tried rep on bench 350lbs+ with Hanna Montana singing in the background. And real plates not the rubber coated crap. Where is this gym I think its called east coast gym

  • lol,..i hate my gyms music too all they give is techno and shit...i like rock, and all kinds of it..and some coldplay would be cool too,...what my gym does have are the plates for the sumbells..half of em do..the rest are coated with what you said rubber stuff

  • I would never ever do cardio on an empty stomach. Just feels so wrong, but sure a heaping cup of coffe and then some cardio does do wonders for fatburning.

  • No, you can do it on an empty stomach or when you already ate. I prefer it on an empty stomach to prevent aches.
