  • Roundabouts are by far simpler. People just need to know how to drive in them...and it's not hard. You just yield to anyone in the circle and then you can go. It saves gas and money for both the town/city and you. Also, you can go places so much faster instead of hitting every light red. Roundabouts are the future and need to be more widely implemented.

  • I live in alabama I tell every1 about the roundabouts back in indiana lol there is like 2 here and people are idiots like don't know how to use them! I never saw a wreck at a roundabout either I used to live 96th and keystone

  • one highlight, you never stop at a red light.ever

  • If you can't figure out a roundabout you might want to go to the doctor, you may be retarded.

  • i live in carmel and its a bitch..nuff said

  • We've got a good deal of roundabouts in Lincoln, NE. Not nearly as many as Carmel. There's another one going in at 14th and Superior. That's not a very good intersection to have a roundabout.

  • hey finally somebody saw the light

Roundabouts are great i am from the UK and they worked there for years.

The only snag is when the volume of traffic gets too high they get overwhelmed In really busy intersections around london they have to add lights

  • @udgarparsons American drivers are a lot different from European drivers. They don't have the patience that European ones do. Maybe they work better in Europe because they don't have the big trucks that we do here in America. I can't imagine it would be all that easy for an 18-wheeler to get through a roundabout.

  • Rotary intersections break down as traffic volume swamps the intersection. Wait till the turbulent flow of rush hour hits one of their intersections... I live in Portugal (yes, poor PIGS Portugal) where the government long ago opted for rotary traffic control. They give as the main motivation speed control, but in reality, the infrastructure costs are the determinant factor. I'll take an intelligent signal any day, any where.

  • I live in Carmel. Roundabouts are great! When driving through other communities, stoplights seem odd and are frustratingly slow. My commute is 12 minutes. Thanks Mayor Brainard.

  • Roundabouts kick ass!

  • I'm glad I don't live in Carmel. Getting around would be a nightmare for me. I hate roundabouts. Having to swerve to the right and then back to the left to avoid a big obstacle in the middle of the road does not sound very safe to me. Traffic doesn't stop either. So if you're at an intersection with a roundabout and there's another car coming, you could get into a collision. As far as I'm concerned, roundabouts an accident waiting to happen.

  • @samsticka Intersections are an accident waiting to happen...

  • @04smallmj Yeah, well, I like to keep things easy and simple and a roundabout is not.

  • @samsticka What could be simpler than a circle?

  • @smontag71 A traditional intersection.

  • @samsticka nah, cars do stop if they cant go in imediatly and tha only accident ive seen was a truck to big to go around so it literally tried to drive over one hah

  • @higherlevel28 Apparently roundabouts weren't designed for 18 wheelers. At least, not very well anyway.

  • @samsticka roundabouts are much safer than a traditional intersection. they also save 24,000 gallons of gas per year per intersection. they're also less expensive to maintain. there are 3 to 9% of an accident rate as opposed to a 25-33% accident rate in normal intersections.

  • @oxshakinxo I don't care! And I'm getting tired of hearing how they're safer. I'd rather take my chances with a traditional intersection. That's what America is about: Taking chances, not playing it safe. We've lost so much in the last 10 years for the sake of safety. Don't play the safety card with me. That won't fly with me.

  • This must an April fools joke. This is so stupid. Notice how there is also NO traffic.

What happens when there is a high volume of traffic from one or more arms of the roundabout!??

    IDIOTS

  • @Ilovesheep When there is a lot of traffic the roundabouts are a nightmare. In Mexico it's a dangerous free for all with people ignoring all courtesy and traffic laws to make their way around. It's so dangerous I won't drive there and even as a passenger I close my eyes and pray. The most dangerous places are the roundabouts. You are absolutely right that it's stupid.

  • @siszam Like any tool, they are suitable for some situations but not others. Extremely busy intersections, and intersections in countries where people do not drive safely are situations where they are not better.
