This is not accurate. Farms up there are small and good land stewards. Take a trip and see your self. Travel the river and see for yourself what really happens. Hatcheries are releasing fish yet govt wants to take them over. A land grab using fish story as cover, with many to gain and local small farmers and YOU loose rights. Search and you will see the many reasons why the salmon counts are low. MANY parties & ocean temps are involved. Removing clean energy dams is ridiculous!
more like oxygen depletion caused by the algal blooms in the many warmer dammed up sections. natives have been netting for hundreds of years without too many issues, now they gotta compete with the honkies.
The Dams have a huge Impact on this! the Salmon is medicine food to the people of the klamath and elders were heart broken and many have been dying so quickly since this happened!
I just watched an excellent documentary on this very same thing this week -- I think it had much of the same footage. Very informative. I see now why we must fight to keep the Klamath River as nature intended.
no i live in crescent city about 15 mins north of the klamath, the indians made this video and they are using the term "white" because they feel white ppl are the reason for this. even though they gill net not to just make enough money for their family but to buy new cars yr after yr and wreck them before the season starts again they are ignorant, and feel the white man owes them for shit that happend to their great great grandparents. its bullshit
i want to know how many salmon are netted every year - i want to know how many salmon are caught in international waters by japan w.out regard to population. the salmon hatchery on the klamath release 10's of millions into the river - but only 100,000 return? the salmon problem is not the river - its the ocean and the unlimited netting in my opinion.
come on all you educated folks........tell this dumb old truck driver why the fish cant pass.if someone can dig miles and miles or irrigation channel and have a water right......why cant the same effort be put into fish channels//.,.....is this concept too dam simple ? is that the problem? why cant some of the water needed abouve the dams be found and large wells put in to help with supply? this is real simple folks........well dumb old trucker has to go to work.....rsvp
the problem really is low flows, its a highly political issue. farmers in oregon vs. tribes in california. the bureaucrats (Gale Norton) caved to the farmers allocations, this die-off was a blunder by the 'educated folks' in charge
why not construct a fish elevator? this seems the most logical thing to do. why cant all of these scientists and experts view this as a simple solution to the problem....this is a simple matter of fish not migrating and being stalled on their way up to spawn............kepp the fish moving and the whole crisis will cease..........im just a dumb truck driver...and i can see a solution........why cant the highly educated people see my point?
I am white and I can tell you that it is the White man that is ignorant on how sensitive the earth is. It is this lack of action and the love of materialism that will keep our eyes off of the dieing world. I chose to turn off the corporate media and let things in the consumeristic world go to the way side. The only way for humanity to remain, is to give up the poluting ways of the blind white man. We don't want to be cowboys anymore. Listen to the earth before she ends this machine wehavecreated
Help convince Mr. Buffet, PacifiCorp & FERC to decommission all 4 of these killer Dams to recommission the Klamath Rivers life giving salmon and water ASAP
would you rather they set up a nuclear power plant, or any of the many other power sources, to make up for the electricity lost due to the decommissioning of those dams? try coming up with over all solutions and permanent alternatives rather then quick and extravagantly costly fixes that end up being just as bad if not worse in the end... they don't just put up dams to be bullies. what we need to do is find intelligent and more efficient alternatives, and these things are what drive us to do...
The dams generate 1% of Pacifiicorp's annual energy. This small amount of energy is not clean and should be replaced with wind and solar in "sunny CA". Maintenance and mitigation are more expensive by $114 million. Removing the dams keeps fishermen working, and prevents toxic algal blooms in water people recreate in. Clean water and plentiful fish are not "worse in the end". The dams are not necessary or beneficial.

it is happening to them still, killing the fish for alfalfa farms (for livestock) is continued cultural genocide

why did it have to mention that the settlers were white? I don't get it what difference does the colour of their skin make?
jubbles2343 3 years ago
they have used the term "white" to better identify the location. It has nothing to do with what happened with the fishes.
e.g. if there are 2 schools and one is catholic, just to identify which school i go to, i have to call it "catholic" school.
