I'd just like to add that one shall not rely on ''good shoes'' to avoid injuries.
Obviously, comfortable shoes is very important, and good shoes can makes practise safer, especially in the beginning, but the best way to avoid injuries is through hard work with physical training and a lot of repetitions of landings to build up the neuromuscular strenght. Also, things like stretching, food and water etc. but my point is.. train hard and safe.
would toe shoes work? they have the grip all the way around the toe, but I do wonder if the padding on the bottom would be sufficient enough in cushioning falls. straight up running shoes are probably fine tho...
to all germans: buy "new balance" shoes !!! they doesn't cost so much, they have extreme grip and they looks good...best I ever had, next to feyiues...(buy theim by "deichmann" for 49,90€)
@PeaceBreaka i used to parkour in skate shoes, Skate shoes have decent grip, but its conditioning is very horrible. Mine lasted about 1 week of parkour till they pooped out and the plastic started to cut into my heel, Just try anything cross-trainers. I myself like running shoes, grip arent a big deal for me because of my speed and weight and technique all help friction on walls. I myself personally like grips with the circles ingraved, like a small one that echo's out.
@argonzeit True, skate shoes do have pretty good grip, but no toe grip. That doesn't really bother me though coz i mainly just bend my toes. If you have any good ideas for clothing such as cargo pants with t shirt or something like that then it would be appreciated!!! :D
@PeaceBreaka Oh totally, Cargo pants are the best for parkour, thats all i parkour in. I would suggest some that are loose on the legs, but always keep them up, not crotch huggers but high up cuz if they are low you will have a hard time getting your legs up, but cargo pants usually dont have that problem, I usually just wear whatever shirts, but i almost always have a underarmour under it because i hate getting chiggers on grass >.<
Why is the word spelled "parkour"? In the state park by my house, it has the word correctly spelled from the French origin: parcours. That means "by the course-follow the health-trail course". Says that for over 30 years!
well for my shoes i find that track shoes work well they have a lot of grip, and i like ones with harder plastic around the toe area because my last shoes were to soft around my toes. and i would always feel the impact of the wall on my big toe so the hard plastic really helps protect my toes
Hes wrong about what kind of shoe surfaces give grip, you DO want flatter outsoles. and the harder the rubber is the less grip but lasts longer, the softer the rubber is the more grip it has but the shorter it lasts.
what this man says about the grip on your shoes is not true. the five ten decents have no grip at all on the toe portion of the shoe and they are amazingly good at walls
i wear sweaters, and if its warm i wear boxing pants,
i only wear gloves when my hands are already bleeding or are short before..
an shoes..ive got the feiyues(very good) the fiveten freerunnners(excellent grip, but you dont feel the ground like with wushu shoes) the dnrho atlantis(very light),wushu shoes and well some others that i dont wear that often^^
I think the gloves are more for simply getting used to the surface. If you dont know what you are grabbing on to, gloves are nice. But when you know what the surface is taking them off is all good.
Oh and dont forget to get rid of stuff in your pockets, it really helps when empty.
@HevekReekel in my opinon gloves stop you from feeling the enviroment, remember if you want to do parkour for a while you need to let your body become strong and resilent so gloves would just slow that down. Its hard to practice parkour without hurting youself once in a while.
Would a pair of vibram fivefingers work? They have individual pockets for ur toes to go in like a glove and they are good for running and rock climbing and they r better for foot and knee health
@chrisman191 i use vibram fivefingers they work very well u get alot of good grip with them plus they actually let ur foot grip naturaly to the surface ur clinging to also they're great for balance
if anyone is looking for some good, light shoes to wear for practicing flips and parkour then i recommend some nike hyperdunks. i know they are basketball shoes, but they lace all the way up the ankle for support, they have great grip, and the shoe is basically all plastic so it weighs literally nothing.
well i think skate shoes will work because they r made for hard landings well sum r but i do not think they should be used as a perment means but again they r good on the other hand any kind of sneaker is best
at big 5 i found some great gloves...their called Head raquitball gloves...kinda expensive at $13-$14 a glove but they have a great grip but also alow you to still feel the wall
gloves might be usefull but if yu get a pull-up bar and wrap medical tape around it...the callouses yu get from doing pullups and other hang-from-hands exersises really do help with keeping the feel of the wall and also neturally protecting your hands
they are amazing! i have a pair and there amazing =] but make sure to keep them good and out of the rain, u can take them out in the rain but not for to long, it messes up the grip and the meateral it has the rain will wipe it of and ul be left wif just a fluff of cotton maybe aftair 2 years
i totally hate gloves, its best to train without... by training without your hands becomes more like gloves themself, so if you are in a hurry, you dont have to look for the gloves! ;)
go with American eagle the non skid kined they have like 3 diff typs of grip on them at payles is were i got them they work great very light extreamly paded and grip is great they last very very very long

hello fellow tracuers im looking for a new pair but i want some parkour shoes that look good and casual so i can wear em all the time cuz all the other shoes i find dunt look to good to wear all the time any suggestions? my friend has had great succsess with nike air force 1's any thoghts on that?
aside from being a little expensive they should b fine but i'll just tell u what to avoid, u definitely don't want shoes with any plastic or hard wtv at the arch bc u could slid on poles or metal or some ledges also u want shoes with grip but not ones tht have sort of sections on the bottoms bc they'll wear n tear easily
hes right about the movement and the shirts but it all depends on how you are and what you do you stupid fuggin idiots first no respect is giving to people who where gloves second either freerunning and parkour i like skate shoes people like skate shoes that i know other people prefer there nikes i use crap cheap starters because then i dont where out my normal shoes and were wolf sorcerer is right for him so stop negativing people who r right if u cant do what u do without nice 100!$ shoes F U

aside from being a little expensive they should b fine but i'll just tell u what to avoid, u definitely don't want shoes with any plastic or hard wtv at the arch bc u could slid on poles or metal or some ledges also u want shoes with grip but not ones tht have sort of sections on the bottoms bc they'll wear n tear easily
