I think parents have expectations they SET for their children and when the children do not live up to the parents standards, they start 'pushing', 'harping', to get the children to do what they think the children should do and BE. Parents justify their conduct as 'wanting my children to BE as best as they can BE' and not go off on the Wrong track. Parents need to 'accept' their children for whom/what they ARE and not try to influence them to BE what they want; offer opportunities

Side effects can develop at any point during treatment.This is not to say that people do not get depressed, or that people can’t experience emotional or mental duress, but psychiatry has repackaged these emotions and behaviors as “disease” in order to sell drugs. This is a brilliant marketing campaign, but it is not science. - too many years I was a victim of psychiarty.

Filling voids and speaking truths is cathartic and can be painful, but I humbly submit that an understanding and loving family and a compassionate doctor or psychiatric hospital is best suited to handle someone in psychosis. Not every family is motivated to shut someone up who is telling dirty laundry. Just as a family may deny painful truths, a person may deny the painful truth that he/she is sick and in need of help and care. The brain is an organ, and like any other, it can get sick.

Mind you, we are all guilty of it once in a while. Our perceptions of our present, past and even future are always in motion.

@BryanEKS89 This happened to me, as well. I don't know why, but 2009 for a lot of sensitive people I know seemed to be some sort of wake up call. Very interesting what a tangled mess our lives become when we aren't really conscious of what we are doing, when we don't even know there is a problem, when we don't really know ourselves, which I believe is the key to unlocking pretty much everything - know thyself above all.

Very true for me, while psycotic i was left alone with my mother, I asked her about some abortion issues that she had before bringing me to life, i dont know how i could remember that, but they were true, she freaked out! i was soon taken with lies to a psych hospital.

Actually, I was just talking about this issue in a course on the weekend. It is not uncommon for people in non-ordinary states of consciousness to gain access to pre-birth experiences of feelings of the mother, and one of the worst, is that you were an unwanted pregnancy. I hope you two can work through this issue and please, if you are bipolar, let her know that this issue is 'A Part' of the reason for your mental disorder, but it can be healed!

Well I think Im already out of the psychosis cicle, free from meds (and from the withdrawal and brain readjustment after taking them), I think that the inibition to talk about family secrets disappears under psychosis, In my case it was not a crucial issue, it was just one more of the discoveries you are awaken to during the episode, for me, there were other revelations that were more meaningful, for example realizing how your parents have been thinking about you. Family dynamics here = true. I felt the worst when I felt the people closest to me were unwilling to talk about important subjects...these were things that needed to be discussed, but to this day they are suppressed and simmer under the surface, seemingly preventing full happiness. At least I said what I wanted to say - though that's about the time I was considered craziest. I do think, however, that I was hypersensitive, reacting a lot more than others...that doesn't mean it's wrong, though.

Hi, your right, my big family secret isnt realy a "familysecret" its a secret between me and my older cousin, he sexually abused me for a few years when i was 6 "he didnt think i would remember from that age". No one in my family knows and im 18 now. Hes getting married soon and im supposed to sit in the church and celebrate his marrige, i dont think i have the strength for that, anyway thanks, your the first person ive told.

Sounds interesting, if parents have emotional conflicts that are undermining the relationships with their children, a great step would be to recognize that, and allow the kids to be nourished in other places, like playing groups or a caring schools.

Neuropleptics like Haldol target dopamine. This will be more of the same - new wonderdrugs which will produce the same horrifric side-effects as the other ones with no medical cure for the disoders in sight, because the problems aren´t biological, they are emotional/spiritual.

I'd argue they are both - the emotional/spiritual certainly does effect the physical body - they are not so easily separable. Of course trying to treat a biological cause in exclusion is the wrong approach - I do think, however, a person's gentically determined physical being can lead to mental problems, rather than the other way around, at least in part.

I think they are trying to mix antideps for dopamine like Wellbutrin with serotinin like Prozac. Ive been on both, expensive and awful side effects. besides of being compleatly useless if you have the sight that the existential issue overrides the biological one. I use no drugs any more, and feel much better, but still diagnosed as bipolar and with a tendency to mania if I dont slow down mental chat.

And I was just thinking about this issue, the thing that happened with me was that eventhough I have dealt with this in one episode it came back again part of it in my last psychotic episode. I agree that this is a huge step forward to heal or deal better with emotional issues for a "bipolar" and I truly believe that support, care and genuine love could help you through it; my girlfriend helped me a lot this last time.
