  • For some strange reason, my wife's dad is providing the instructions.

  • ITS WILL SASSO PLAYIN KENNY ROGERS

  • oh look! it's an instructional video for the elves!

  • Its flux Not flex at 1:03

  • @Glasspopeater38 he says flux...

  • @TheWoodsmanhunter its not really the best welding option cause it takes considerable skill and time to weld it the weld has no flux like the video says i havnt found any practical reason to use it for welding its good for heating up metal or cutting metal

  • @TheWoodsmanhunter Im a 1st year apprentice, and so far, i havn't seen anyone use an oxy/acy set to weld, its mainly used to cut steal, or gouge it.

  • HO HO HO

  • THIS IS MY SHOP TEACHER

  • telematikacenter.ru/katalog/svarochnoe-proizvodstvo/apolo-21/ - 3D welding simulator hi tech

  • abooot

  • heeeyyyy its SANTA!!!!!.....now we see what he does throughout the year when he's not busy making toys!! :)

  • Hi I have an arv welder and I know how to use it and am prety good at it but I was wondering while Im welding can I hold the metal Im welding? I normaly use clamps and wat not but some times I need to hold it in place because I cant clamp it or hold it up. Can it b held by hand when welding? Thx.

  • @zuuluu1 yes the metal can be held when you are welding you will not get a shock from it.

  • @lukemullinahone yes it can shock you, if your gloves are wet, but usually only for the initial arc then the current passes through the metal instead of you. I speak from experience. Long hot days of sweat soaked gloves and getting a little jolt when I had to hold a piece to tack or having my knees on the metal while it's raining.

  • Santa! all i want for christmas is for expertvillage to be renamed novicevillage. kthxbai

  • @crf449rsumo Flux

  • what is better

    arc/stick welding

    or mig/mag welding

  • @Arcwelder97 Better... Depends what your doing. Each kind of welding has its advantages and disadvantages.

If your not very skilled mig/mag welding is easier so its better.

If speed is important mig/mag welding is faster.

If your welding outside arc is better.

If you need everything to be portable arc is less equipment to carry.

If you need small precision welds Tig welding would be better.

Also what material your working with ect.

  • Kenny Rogers

  • i am your father

go back to star wars and weld space ships

  • These videos that just talk about what they're doing suck. Just show us damn it!

  • just started welding for a friends company, thanks for the tips

  • star wars

  • Nice introduction!!!!

  • GEORGE LUCAS!!!!!!!!

  • I'm a welding apprentice and I wish I had this guy, my instructor didn't even propery show me how to strike up... Fuckin' jabrony. Cheers Colonol Sanders.

  • @TheMaidenengland I know, my teacher at school just pretty much told us to strike it like a match and just made us start the beads. He didn't explain in enough detail.

  • george lucas is a nigger

  • George Lucas in now a welder?

  • im a level 2 welding apprentice and we've went over mig, gmaw, smaw, gtaw, and all that good stuff, we also used the plasma arc cutter/

  • This guy looks like Kip, the guy who makes my donuts every Sunday morning

  • Here is how it's done son. Check out welding with sparklers!

  • this is good information thanks for the brush up

  • Emu killed Rolf Harris

  • Why are your videos soo quiet all the time.

  • What happens if the metal rod touches your body, do you get shocked>?

  • Hmmm , No HOHOHO , im disappointed santa

  • how much does a typical welder make a year? and by hour? im interested in bein a welder

  • depending on many factors (schooling type of welding experience) I have seen 18 - 50$ a hr. Being a welder in this day and age would be a vary good career path! As you can see by this vid most of the welders today are from the baby boomer generation and will be retiring soon. I am in a 2 year welding program in my High school and we have employers coming to our school looking for welders. But my school also offers AWS 1" unlimited certification to. I think only High school in the US to do that.

  • if u are going to do this for a living and just starting out. id go with a automatic lens sure they flash once in a while but get a nexjen lens (by jackson) they come in 4"and 2" i like the 4" myself it comes w torch and grind settings. good for strucual welding oh your can adjust your shades for welding too 9-13

  • yea, the auto tinting mask do make a world of difference, but you can get a good for 40 or 50 bucks. and they do really help

  • Actually for the sake of a few extra dollars you can purchase an auto tinting mask so that even when the mask is over your face you can see everything and once the ark happens it automatically tints for you.

  • when you have the shield thing over your face when wire welding how do you know where you are welding? i visited a skill school and welding class was a class i chose. i tried wire welding but i had no idea where i was lol im only 14 and it was my first time..

  • No, you cannot see a thing, although, once you have an arc, you will be able to see the work piece very clearly, because it will make so much light, hence putting the mask on in the first place. I usually have my rod very close to the work piece before I have the machine on so that I can know where it is immediately.

  • by the way the stuff covering the electrode is not called flex its called FLUX jus sayin

  • @MrBigboii1 maybe he's canadian

  • can you tell what it is yet?.

  • MY HERO

  • rolf guys, yeah deffo a ringer for rolf

  • fuckin hell its rolf harris he must have been sacked off animal hospital

  • LOLOLOL

  • That girl will be saying "Well hello there Mr. Melanoma!" not to mention the sparks, rofl.

  • no mate its kenny rogers

  • haha funny

  • IS THIS ROLF HARRIS?

  • i love welding i orgionally took it freshman year in an ag class and i have an apprenticeship with the ironworkers union makin 25 an hour to start out

  • u lucky shit

  • Awesome, great video. We did Shielded Metal Arc Welding (stick welding) in my Sophomore Agriculture class. I loved it, and i will be graduating soon, and will be looking into Welding fulltime. As they say, i love cutting metal with fire!

  • having your eyes burnt is not cool its nothing to fuck around with and just getting burnt on you skin is very easy only takes a few times from direct exposure and you fucked

  • Comment removed

  • i bet he sucks at welding ahahah this video is for idiots who don't know anything about welding lmao "this is the electrode holder" duhhh and it's called the "stinger"

  • he probably wasn't pleased about having to say that stuff either

  • or for smart people who don't know anything about welding. you don't have to be an idiot to know very little about welding.

  • hold da stick a boot a 1/16th of a inch away and den make a nutter circle. CANADA EY

  • im about to start arc welding in metals.

  • FINALLY the village people got rid of that robot

  • anyone ever had a sunburn from welding?

  • yeah my frends do

  • You can only get a sunburn from the sun. thats a fact.

  • you get sunburn from uv rays which can be created through welding. its the same reason that you cant look at the sun or a weld bead for more than a second... you get a sunburn on your cornea. THAT is a fact.

  • you don't understand. I know you can get radiation burns but the sun has to sunburn you.

  • i know but who calls it a radiation burn?

  • no one does I was just being a smart ass. sorry.

  • its cool dont worry about it.

  • it called ray burn from welding he ssorta is right both caused by uv rays

  • I know almost everyone calls it sunburn I was just being a dork.

  • i think it's uh radiation in welding, i could be wrong.

  • tx welders just think theyre the best in the world. i know ive worked with alot of em.

  • tx welder r the best in the world!!!!!!

  • that is so true.

  • i did this with the electrode in my mouth this old women is GAY

  • I did this in Engineering class

  • your the daft one ryan prick.

but yeah the 7018 is my favorite. it just looks so much nicer

  • 7018 has a better tensile strength also.

  • E 6010 is more likely than not -the- toughest electrode to use. That's why we're learning how to use it first.. Dont start with 7018, whatever you do! Its sooo easy.

  • Yea my teacher started us out on 6010 rods to cause they are easier to get stuck to the metal.I agree with you that 7018 rods are so easy to use.

  • So, young man, run them virtical and see which you prefer for ease.

  • we started with 6011

  • If I took direction from this guy i wouldnt have a job. If you wanna pass x-rays or UT welds dont listen to this guy!! You will fail!!!!

  • I really do agree with you on that. Poorly explained from this guy.

  • DAMN THAT WAS BASIC lol

ok anyarc welders here? i got a question.

  • ask?

  • ok uh with a rod, is it safe to kinda hold on to it, to have better control?

  • yeah its save to hold on to it as long as your runing on dc just make sure your not useing an excaliber or a p1 rod they burn hotter and make sure if you do hold on to it your not touching anything to ground your self out like say for instance i was welding i would not be leaning against to pices of metal with my bare skin ac current will just through like kinda throw y ou a little or tingle

  • yes just read what nurvina said.. and with some good pair of gloves.. you will be fine..

  • 6G is a position for welding pipe or box tubing. and 5G I would consider the most difficult

  • id say 6G,R is most difficult

  • instead of pulling straight up/out bring your weld back into itself slightly and i mean slightly 6010 you shouldn't be have a lot of holes maybe your too hot i run around 120 130 depending on the machine...

  • i plan to be a welder

  • Me too! My friend makes over 60k a year welding.

Trade skills are where the money is at!

  • whats 60k???

  • 60,000

  • oooh ok thank you=]

does your friend work in contruction or automotives or something?

  • wanna start on an arc?

cuz thats what i have to start

tho they say mig is best for begginners

  • if your going to start ark welding your best want to learn to stick weld start of with 60/10 then move up to 60/11 then 70/18. yes mig is easy but you should honestly learn to stick weld. once you learn that mig and flux core comes natural.

  • ohhh ok thank you =]

  • Ahh, I suppose.

  • You seem very knowledgeable.

  • to get rid of the burn through at the end, stop just b4 the end and do a couple of circles, that should give u ure penetration without the hole,

  • Just looked it up, sounds like a real tough one

Really neat to try when you have the proper skills

BTW, (I'm still a beginner) how do you get rid of the hole at the end of a 6010/6011 pass?

  • Would you kindly share this information with us? Thank you.

  • You never stick the rod? Sorry but I can't believe that. I've seen veterans weld and it still sticks on them sometimes.

  • Sorry, I'm here in the US where we spell everything wrong.

  • Rutile

  • Strike an arc every time? Hah! That's like impossible. It's going to stick sometimes no matter what.

  • i only hope that noone will think he can weld after he saw this...

  • i want to be a welder in the future

  • Well explained Thanx 4 sharing .

    Good methods 4 teaching beginners.

  • The very beginning is to learn why you use safety gear so that you have eyesight by the age of 40.

  • its very easy to arc weld they make it sound all scary but when u get to do its easy so people dont worrie.

  • Easy for you maybe.

  • how do you weld a penny on steel

  • why?

  • because i have enuf rods to waste

  • might have to use oxy-acetaline to melt penny on steel, no rods involved.

  • or just plain gas welding

  • I'm pretty sure you cant.

  • but if i do that my old man will kick my arse for using up his rods and steel...

  • Anyone know any sites on Arc Welding you can print handbooks out.

  • haey body thanx from izmit

  • that's very intresting, thank you very much

  • hi everone! dont learn to weld ,, as you will put me out of a job :)

  • I prefer TIG or MIG. Just push the button and it works. But then again I'm not the one paying for the gas...

  • These are great posts for the beginner, the young ones can take great advantage of this knowledge. Great Post.

  • i am a fantastic MIG welder but i SUCK at electrode welding, it is like going al over the place and looks like shit realy it's that bad. so it's time to learn

  • Very nice, thank you

  • nice

  • Very clear - great teacher. (Just beginning to weld)
