@pinkdreamer1000 if u want to buy an african grey, be ready to save some money cuz theyre at least 700 bucks! Ugghhh! I want one really bad but i dont have enough money. I also have a cute talking cockatiel so i think i have enough to worry about! ;)
@1TigerBird aww 2 years? still got a year and a half to go then, i reckon my birds going to be a early talker she almost spoke the other day and weve only had her for a month :)
@pinkdreamer1000 our video camera bit the dust, so it will be awhile before i get another one... sorry... but I still have a few copies of Tiger's DVD left.. They are just not advertised on eBay at the moment because I'm re-doing the ad. let me know if you want one... thx!
I'm deaf, and the surrounding in the room when the tv is on sounds EXACTLY like this. I can't hear the word patterns because I'm wearing hearing aids, so the words actors say on tv were always blurry to me. This bird really remembers sounds, and voices, but he just doesn't know which word patterns go...
uhm....well sorry but that isn't the best talking parrot....or well...thats just my personal opinion :P ...there is ...Einstein? Alex? Griffin? ....and then i like one thats called Ruby too ;D and thats only african greys....but tigerbird is really great!! :D just not the best... ;) he is sooooo handsome! ;D
@SuperJorunn Ahh, yes! Someone who knows their parrots! There are so many great talkers out there. And yes, that's my opinion too! Many more have appeared on YouTube since this vid was uploaded. Thanks for checking us out!
my grandmother has an African Grey, and I love listening to him talk. He is smart, and I agree, I think he understands most of what is said. At night time, whenever he is ready to be covered up, he starts saying "Time to go to bed. I'll see you in the mornin'."
@alainkhoury1980 You might check out my TigerBird DVD on ebay... Read Tiger's story and check out our CD's too. Tiger did not talk at 2 years old, due to neglect from his previous owner. Look at him now! Your bird should be starting to talk by 18 months. Most start at 6 months with vocalizations. Maybe another bird, like the Tigerbird DVD will give him the start he needs. It's not all talk either, I left enough chirps and songs in the DVD so you know he's a bird!
Watched einstein the parrot and his trainer said that she says the same word again and again and IF he likes it he'll copy, then she gives him a nut to reinforce it.
@alainkhoury1980 I have a grey myself she is 25 years old..You have to keep working with yours they mostly pick up what they find to be amusing to them..Each have their own thing..My "Messiah" does everything from Popeye to Beavis...
can somebody tell me please why African Grey don't like water. my tobby starts screaming when ever i try to give him bath. even he drinks after a day or once a day.
@Khushi963 i use a gentle shower with lukewarm water from a shower massage (no pulsing) for tiger. i put him in the tub on one of his short perches and slowly get him used to it, starting with just his feet and then working my way up. oh, he complains a little bit, but he stays put. i'll pick him up, set his perch on the counter and blow him dry with warm, not hot air. keep the blower at a distance! i think that he actually starts liking it. introduce things to them slowly. that's the trick...
i'm 100% sure they know exactly what they are saying, they just use us to learn what to say so we'll do it for them rofl! Mine picks up things very quickly. When I get his water dish in the morning, he'll make a slurp sound and say getting some water? thats better!
this guy is very very smart. this is a very cute video thankyou for posting!
I'm an owner of a grey-or is it the other way around? lol. Mine tells me its time to go to work! gotta go! bye! calls my son in the morning to get up and does it sounding like me lol. he'll put words and phrases together that make sense. He made up this word all by himself " Banapples" guess he was telling me he wanted bananas AND apples,he'll say stuff like, comin over? i wanna go for a walk -very smartbirds
@Tsubakiee yeah, i think they own us... we may never fully understand how smart these birds are. i'm fully convinced that Tiger understands everything I say to him. we just TALK about leaving and he starts saying "Bye Bye!" unreal... their ability to create completely logical sentences is staggering. they speak in the correct context about, oh, 100% of the time. it's like i've always said, "he's a smart bird, and he'll be the first one to tell you so!" thx for the comments!
interesting... we did the clucking noise for Tiger and he picked it up right away... i get lots of comments like this. they are so aware of things around them...
Your Tigerbird is way cool! I like that the greys have a sense of humor. Funnier than a child I think. YO-YO is cool too, and Chester...look up.....GOOD BIRDS BITE C U later Tigerbird!
luv the video-i have a 3 year old a 7 yr old 2 in their 30's 1 that is about 15. My baby thats 3 callsmy dogs in the house by name and than counts them outloud. I agree 100% these are lifetime champions not pets. and are very expensive to care for.
fantastic-i have a 3yr old cag and you should hear him he call the dogs in by name and than counts to see if they're all in . he talks in female and male voices lol!
Several hours per day, every single day, for the rest of your life. Vet bills are high for certified avian vets. Also, they are extremely noisy, especially when you want to listen to tv. They're extremely messy and destructive. I love mine - would not trade her for the world, but it's not like having a dog. The ones that are talkative and interact with you, do so only because the owner has spent time with the bird. You can't just lock it in a cage and expect it to entertain you.
How old is Tiger Bird? My TAG will be 3 in June. I got her at 4 months old so thankfully I didn't have to start with a bird who was already taught behavior from someone else.
im thinking off buying a african gray this year but i have a few questions about them if anyone know alot about them or has one please message me... thanks..
Please do your research before you buy an African Gray parrot. Some people think "it's cool" to own a talking bird. you should not get a bird just for that reason. There are two types of Greys & you should learn about them before buying one, they require alot of time & attention!
so very true. i've been working with TigerBird for more than 6 years to try to reverse the psychological effects of his previous owner. we still have a long way to go.
that's a big problem with greys, it's easier to get a young one than to raise or reraise one who's had an owner... some ppl have no idea what they're doing and can be very negative to their bird
Actually, people are buying it for just that reason. One girl had an out-of-control Umbrella Cockatoo she was caring for. She bought everything I had... CD's and DVD's. It provided a great distraction / companion and helped calm the bird. She realized that the bird noticed the short youtube vids, she needed something that would occupy the birds time for hours, and Tiger was just the trick she was looking for!
Do your homework first. Caring for a parrot is like having a 5 year old child for... oh... about 60 to 80 years. that's their lifespan with good care and feeding...
Well I really enjoyed listening to him. I dont have an African grey but I love them, always have. I actually have 8 talking starlings in the family. Not many people know they are amazing talkers. Do the Greys mimic male and female voices? I guess too, accents for different states would come out in its talking too. I know my talking birds have an 'aussie' accent LOL. Anyway, a wing wave from my birdies to your - love and light - Susan in Tasmania Australia
thanks! yes, greys will mimic both voices, but stay mainly with their favorite. in tiger's case, he sounds like me. he has picked up a little "Okie Slang" from my girlfriend though!
Nice healthy looking bird. My Grey Noah heard him, right away, said 'Oh... That's awesome!' But Noah doesn't need any lessons in how to talk. What he needs is lessons on how to shut up. XD
The first people to find out that parrots could repeat human speech must have been so damn confused.
