thanks very much, yes the Cally sleeper train when diverted my way seem sto be made up of several sleeper services that have joined up either further north for the journey south, or on the journey north will split further north. They run two sleeper trains north and and two south - believe one splits three ways and serves Inverness, Aberdeen and Fort William and other far north stations on their way to the principal destinations, and the other train serves Edinburgh and Glasgow
Fantastic video! Love travelling on this line..shame I don't do it all that often! Sunrise in the background along with the seagulls morning call..fantastic! Do I dare ask what tme this was? I'm guessing must have been somewhere like 5am or just after?
@mattenigmaevolution Thanks mate - the times the shots were taken are captioned at the start of each clip on the film, the earliest as I recall being 04.30hrs. The sleeper service came through bang on 05.00hrs - you could set your clock to it, amazing time keeping by the driver.
@NapierNimbus I shud think so being overnight. Wudn;t have thought there would have been any major problems during the night..probably the easiest cruise on the UK mainline..imagine coming down there urself at that time and seeing those sights..must be a perk of the job!
Many thanks - the conditions were just so perfect had to make the most of them - was on a week's holiday in Dawlish and the chances having another holiday with such perfect early morning conditions must be very remote
Superb video - I'm ashamed to say that I've lived in Dawlish for a year now and still haven't made the effort to go down early and see the sleeper. Aiming to remedy that in the next few weeks, while there's still light at that time!

very nice the FGW Sleeper is quite short compared to the 16 coach caledoian sleeper except when it breaks up and goes all over scotland.

You deserve 5 stars purely on the basis of getting up so early, never mind the amazing lights and video.
