Fucking hell the rockstar bloke (Dr Loo) is Kiyoshiro Imawano. Last time I saw this I had no idea who he was so should probably explain - he was the frontman of RC Succession, who are sort of the Japanese Rolling Stones (but cooler). All his songs are like this by the way - "BABY!!! OH BABY!!!". Died recently.
Thank you for the info. I don't really know anything about this movie beyond the imdb listing. Apparently, the director is also some folk musician and poet, well-known in Japan, though this film is obscure, of course, and the only one he ever made. Kinda hard to believe it's so obscure, really, when you look at all the effects and whatnot... obviously, a lot of love was put into it.
Dr. Loo (if that is him) looks like a Japanese John Lennon.
