  • Nobodys a bigger JLV fan than me and he definitely lays it down here. But I think some big props need to go to bassist Preston Hubbard here too. During the solo, he is more than doing his part to embellish the solo and keep the back beat going. Kudos!!

  • Jimmy is realy good and soooo cool... JLV=King

  • the song is my babe, from the t-bird rythym album with the awesome red t-bird with a rumble seat on the cover,if yourself is a fan of the vaughan bros check out them doin pipeline on a double neck guitar together,it's from a mtv mardi gras special, simply amazing

  • Yeah , have to say that the whole band is FABULOUS !

  • "...She got a short fat fanny, anything you need..."

  • at 1:36 the solo began unreachable .... 2 notes taken for such a long time .... Giotto's O , if you know what I mean :-)

  • What does Kim sing in second verse ? Big blue eyes and long black hair , she's got a .... ? Can someone tell me pls ?

  • These guys knew how to tear it up, big time! Theer were some great R and R bands around back in the day....

  • JLV sweet lord, he killed it.

  • God damn that`s good!

  • lead singer looks like he is in the mob lol

  • Veri Gyyd ! - Erkele

  • JIMMIE VAUGHAN is NO.1!!!!!!

  • Jimmie Vaughan rules forever, played this song with my band at a club this past weekend.-The Women blew their tops.-Hey we ought to play some ZZ-Top numbers at well.!!! HEy Hey

  • Smokin' hot!

  • Fran C. is a fav.

Love his shuffles...check out FTB's In Orbit.

Down at Antone's is another Fran Christina groove monster.

  • You can get this whole concert on DVD - HIGHLY recommended.

  • damn you can't get cooler than JLV..that little move he does at 2:38 and 3:59 lick to end

  • They did another version of this with a piano that is just as kick ass as this. This original line up is above all others.

  • @upstrucker66 But it's Not the original line-up - Keith Furgusson was the best bass-player ever. He was on the first 4 albums and had a style that sounded like no-one else. Also on the first 5 Tail Gators albums after he left the T-Birds (fantastic blues/rockabilly/surf). He passed away,R.I.P., but left behind a lot of great music. With his leopard-skin top, leather studded pants and ear-ring all-a-dangly, PH looks like he's from The Spiders From Mars - just in time for their hit "Tuff Enuff".

  • Saw them a couple of times in the early 80s and Jimmie was just the coolest live guitarist of all time.

  • Nothing like the early 80's in Austin. The Thunderbirds, SRV, Bonnie Raitt, Steve Lindley, Peter Tosh, you could hear anyone there. Real music, real musicians. For next to nothing, front row center.

  • A killer band in their prime and a Guitarslinger's -Guitarslinger!! What the Hell else can you ask for?

  • Jimmie's playing on this show in London is absolutely insane, he just burns the place down.

  • so cool loving it!

  • stone cold killer

  • Saw them in Paradiso Amsterdam. The place was loaded with Hells Angels

Had the time of my life, great concert an I got very drunk a.o. , and never had to pay a dime.

    Thanks guys.

  • Jimmie's allways so smooth. He rocks

  • There used to be a version of this song on you tube where they were playing an outdoor auditorium I havnt seen it up for a good while anyone know where it is?Fuck , Jimmy plays fuckin awesome on this shit, T Birds for ever R.I.PKeith Ferguson!!!

  • Damn, nothin but a puddle of plastic and wires where my speakers used to be !!!

  • The T Birds didn't get the recognition they deserved. Kim Wilson and J Vaughn had the rocking roll blues down to a science..

  • In a way Jimmie has that same guitar charisma as keith richards. There are faster players , but they just have that feel for the music.

  • Saw them a few times between '80 and '85. They were so much better in the earlier years.

  • jimmie is killin' it in this vid...

i kinda like his playin; with a pick more then when he isn't using one..

but love his feel and stuff!!

    big fan of the t-birba!

  • I saw the T-Birds live at Fiesta in SA, TX about 25 years ago. They had a modest stage and had burned it to ashes by the end of their show. JV was awesome then, but since leaving the 'Birds has never been as impressive in my opinion.

  • hahah the one-bend part of the solo... just fabolous

  • Awesome Jimmy Vaughn!

  • I saw this live

  • Wau! great song!

  • jimmie vaughan rules!!!!!!

  • the ultimate highlight of my concert experiences...the t-birds at the cotati cabaret, santa rosa CA....jimmie whipped out a comb after busting a behind the head solo and with one swipe his hair was perfecto...so cool

  • dkitty that's the city I first saw The Thunderbirds, a place called The Inn of The Beginning, opening was a band out of Sacramento called Little Charlie and The Nitecats. It's legend in my concert going book !! Charles Musselwhite was there to.

  • Inn of The Begining , opening was a band out of Sacramento, called Little Charlie and The Nitecats, Charles Musselwhite was there to. Legend in my book !!!

  • this is what it's all about.Favourite band, favourite guitar player.

  • awesome!!!!, I love double bass.

  • damn, i thought that was Andy Kaufman for like 30 seconds.

  • rebelskull is damn right!!

  • Jimmie Lee is the word cool....JLV is was and will always be the man....

  • @rebelskull18 I agree. That guy oozes cool.

  • @rebelskull18 Dont forget Preston Hubbard - one of the best and coolest rock/blues bass players. The whole band is simply awesome!!

  • The original, or at least this line up needs to get back together... Love Jimmie to death but he just doesn't seem to have the same fire as he did when he was with the T-Birds... something just seems missing in his playing... I think he needs this good ol' butt rockin' Austin vibe to get back to were he belongs... IMHO!

  • That would be Kim Wilson with the voice. And Preston Hubbard on bass, which means this is post-1985.

Lived in Austin from 1981 to 1989 - caught SRV, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Bonnie Raitt, and so many others for next to nothing, on the lawn front row. An amazing musical time to be alive.

  • Hey,. exactly the time I was there... words can't describe it, Austin was Paradise, and thats what they called it. Gimme a small coffee in a large cup at Sweetish Hill....

  • if you look up "American Music" in the dictionary, this is the song you'll find. Man I miss this band and the texas sound of the 80's.

  • it's "MY BABE" actually and i think it's from the album BUTT ROCKIN we used to play this in a three piece power combo i was in in the eighties and that was the most fun you could have with your clothes on!

  • It is on T Bird Rhythm .. 1982.

  • I have this gigi on a VHS. It rocks!

  • awesome

    Jim and Kim

  • I saw them in Seattle with a band called Omar and the Howlers. Anyone heard of them???

  • Sure, Omar just did 'Jimmy Reed Highway' with JV, Kim, Lou Ann and Derek O'Brien, check it out.

  • Yeeeees Omar with the voice. Saw them twice in the Netherlands.

  • what he says at the end of second and third?

    She got the.......

    and endless kind a thang??

    PLEASE, SOME ONE....

  • End second and third is: "...she got short fat fanny and this man to feed". Saw these guys many times in the eighties and it was just a big dance party in the audience every time. T Birds just wail!!

  • thanks :)

  • thanks man!! i played this in a band for a long time and didn't

  • its' "She got Short fat fanny and everything you need !!" the original is by Ron Holden 1960. real title is My Babe not My baby.

  • Thanks man.....I stand corrected.

  • HI backthisway...

I always thought the lyric was 'She got Short Fat Fanny and Miss Annie beat', the former being a character from a Larry Williams song, the latter of Little Richard fame...

Best wishes from the U.K and thanks to FrisianViking for posting. I was at the T'Birds gig the night before this one.

It was good but nothing like the gigs in 1978 (maybe 1979) and 1980, in Birmingham, U.K.

  • Guitarandharp,

I will stand corrected once again, as your version of the lyric makes plausible sense.......especially considering the time frame this song was written.

  • Hi p2gee

    You're welcome - anything for a fellow T'Birds/blues fan!

  • I am sure you are right about that ! Good call !

  • Too bad they all couldn't get back together one more time.

  • Awesome song, good solo...

  • jimmie is the best!

  • THAT is what I'm talkin' about!

  • Thats cool. I saw them a few times way back in the eighties.

  • Sweet!

  • FrisianViking jij heb smaak, heb je nog meer van die Red Devils of Thunderbirds filmpjes voor ons??

  • Jimmie is GREAT.

And yup. My Babe from Live in London.
