Some cats actually do a sort bird call to try and lure them closer. There's a video of a sphynx cat doing it really well - search "sphynx cat talking to birds", it should be the first video.

Such a cute little call! My siamese cat does the SAME thing when she see birds. She's chirps at them and does cute little faint mews :]
