@TheFunkadelicFan It's true. Gagarin did have a slightly broader smile than Glenn. But only slightly. Too bad Yuri was just a passenger in the Vostok, whereas Glenn actually got to drive.
Extremely brave to be sure, but let us remember that the launch escape system for the capsule was flawless in operation at this point with loads of fail-safes and huge excess power. Even if the booster blew up on the pad, he would have been rocketed away from the scene. No capsules were ever severely damaged, even in testing, other than the one that sunk on Gus Grissom.
No, it is not. The moon landings - and this mission - really happened. Don't listen to the ignorant conspiracy theorists. Science confirms the missions really happened.
I was in second grade when John Glenn's first flight occurred. I grew up in Columbus, Ohio and had the pleasure of meeting John Glenn many times from elementary school to as an adult when he had multiple terms as a Senator from Ohio. He was always a professional and a gentleman.
The first memory that I can place a date on is that of seeing the spaceship floating in the water. My mother was very excited! (I had just turned 2, so her excitement impressed this memory on me.) And no, DTHRocket... in 1962, hardly anyone had color television (although they had been broadcasting it since 1950), and color film was rarely used except for movies in theaters! Just think, only 7 years after this first orbital flight, we were on the moon. And now what? We just do Earth orbits.
Glen was a great guy. But he was no Yuri Gagarin.

Not a fun trip, but not fatal.

@rockyPants4000 Well, the first capsule test went sour, but no others.

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do we love space travelling?
(2) Why do we like space exploration?
(3) Why do we enjoy the feeling of zero gravity and floating in space?
(4) Why do we think that space travel and exploration is a representation of "American Dream"?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

The background music reminds me of the movie: The Voyage of Friendship 7, which is it.

It felt like 1942, not 62. What's up with that?
