@charlieiscool1000 even if he would fire back... I don't think the Flying Dutchman would be defeated... earlier in the movie you see it destroy tens, if not hundreds of navy ships! so I don't think that 1 powerful navy ship could bring it down! xD
beckett did not fire because he thought both ships would do business with him like in the past and cut a mutually profitable deal.
when both started firing, he is thinking how uncivilised these savages are, resorting to violence instead of a good business deal. In the end, the violence itself is the good business tactic employed. Duh !
@darkgodnaar Yep, This is normal when you "assume" people will play by your rules (forgetting that they were PIRATES), Beckett was a epic villain in my view and his death was equally epic xD
