Back in the very early days of wow there used to be shit that came out of that portal that would kill you, so people in general didn't go near it. As far as that, I don't think it had any other reason for being there, and if it did blizzard must have decided against fully implementing it.

@ Ghost123147 no one knows exactly what the place was some sya the gms ised it to test raid entrance some say it used to be a old raid but it got removed like a week after WoW came out due that there was a HUGE glitch in the raid and the raid din't seem like the zone like some even say that it used to be the entrance to stormwind stockade but they moved it leaving the portal <---- thats what i say
