  • This is an intensely powerful song. Not just anyone can sing it. Elvis's version with just piano had me in pieces.

  • P S bobbycolepopmusic this song is a gospel song. let us know what your comments about it are.

  • to bobbycole, try pattie labelle's original version of this song the one she rscorded with the bluebelles back in the 60's i think, bet you'll like it!!!!

  • Timi Yuro also sings this song magnificently.

  • I love this song by both of them...love the deep voice vs..the high voice...They were great together!

  • This version is absolutely great!

  • Nice but Gerry and the Pacemakers own this song.

  • I still sometimes wear the high water slacks like Bill Medley... They were some kind of duo!!!!

  • Which mofo committed suicide by illegal drug overdose?

  • Kate Smith does it the best of all.

  • Neither one of them seem very happy about this performance - and the sound from the microphones is unbalanced. Where and when was this done? Does anyone know?

  • @Susana1027 It think this was from The Ed Sullivan Show, 1965.

  • Lol, what was the troll?

You not being true to who you are?

Fucking wanker. Stand up to who you are and you'r opinion.

  • this is fukin awful. seriously murdered it.

  • Preferred Barbra Streisand Version.

  • que cette chanson est difficile a interpréter.ils s en sortent merveileusement bien ,dans des tonalités differentes , magnifiant la voixde l autre.le final d une voix de basse a une voix de soprano est etourdissant.bravo bravo!!

  • It's somewhat funny. None of the two singers sing with his normal voice. One is like a drunken bumblebee and the other one like a hummingbird with his balls twisted...thank god for Elvis!

  • at the young age of 64, all of my immediatly family has passed. it's not just who performs this song, it's the message. with that in mind, i keep going and those who have been called home will live through me and the remainder of my days. that is why i have hope.

  • What a wonderful pair of opposite voices! Thanks for the memories! :)

  • i feel this song is just beautifuly sung

  • Never heard this--wonderful, soulful rendition of a pop standard.

  • Love the song. The Righteous Brothers sing the song well, I believe; however, the Letterman were the best in singing this song in my opinion -- and in the opinions of my now-deceased parents who introduced me to this type of music when I grew up in the 60's & the 70's.

  • Great haircut.

  • This is a great version, almost as good as Roy Hamilton

  • i prefer gerry and the pace makers sorry

  • Did I really hear Ed Sullivan introducing this act? Brings back memories of "The Ed Sullivan Show" every Sunday night. A retired priest in Canada.

  • @watchful38 your not retired. never

  • @uncatila You are absolutely right! always a priest! Retired I still delight in helping people in a more informal way. I meet people every day at Coffee Shops or Malls( I seem to be a very gregarious type). Whether Catholic or a refugee it is great to meet them, and it may well be the only time they will meet a Catholic priest. And of course I learn much from them. New arrivals in Canada seem to appreciate it when, on leaving them, I say, "Welcome to Canada!" Hey, I'm not dead yet! LOL

  • gerry and the pacemakers own this song

  • I LOVE THE R.B BUT I HAVE TO SAY THAT TOM JONES DOES THE BEST VERSION OF THIS

  • @worm60

Dear Lord....have you EVER heard Roy Hamilton or Mahalia Jackson sing this song?

  • gooooooooooooooooo LIVERPOOL!!!!!! YOU WILL NEVER WALK ALONE!!!!

  • This brings back wonderful memories when my prent's brought me to see Carousel, at the South Shore Music Theater when I was 7 yrs. old. I have followed musicals ever since.

  • Why were the microphones so small?

  • @b12ian72 cause they didnt lip sync back then :P

  • It comes from the Rogers and Hammerstein musical "Carousel." My folks took me and my sisters to all of them. When this comes up in the story, your heart is about to burst. Recommend this old musical to all the young so that they might grow more heart. I always liked the Righteous Brothers, but they sort of mangle it here.

  • Listen to Gerry and the Pacemakers singing it.

  • @FrowningIke I had the pleasure of seeing Gerry and the Pacemakers live a couple of years ago, and they closed the show with this song...my father had just died, and it brought tears to my eyes. They have the best version by far.

  • @mommajam1 My Fathers funeral was last year and he's buried in Anfield cemetery. They sang this. Also my Aunt turned down a marriage proposal from Gerry Marsden as a teenager.....silly woman!

  • @FrowningIke Amen brother Gerry and Co. have the best version I've ever heard. My only sister died this last Monday and they are going to sing Gerry's version at the funeral. I hope God blesses Gerry for singing this so well.

  • @meezerlover1 Sorry to hear of your sisters passing. This song befits so many occasions.

  • @FrowningIke

Yes, great way to hear a worse version. Gerry cross the Mersey....wanker.

  • @mhjmmh Ha Ha! Nice troll! Nob off you sad little boy!

  • yeah bill hatfield had an incredible voice, wish hed recorded more

  • Bobby was a wonderful singer and the best version of "Uncahined Melody" was the Righteous Bro. version. Bobby is on the same level as Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye tow other favs of mine.

  • @jimidee33 There have been many versions of Unchained Melody - many before Bobby Hatfield's version and many after. Unless you've listened to all of them then how can you possibly say his is the best version?

  • @TheMG63 I have heard many versions and have a recording with The Platters doing a great version, however in my opinion Bobby's is the best. Just my opinion; regardless for me this version rules.

  • @TheMG63 I love Bobby's version the best. That is my opinion, but for me Bobby rules and have heard many versions including the great Platters.

  • If your life has been far less than ideal, this song touches you when you feel that no one cares. I give you the courage to hang on.

  • @McCullyCrew

Such a thoughtful and elegant comment. Maybe there should be a separate comment section for people who have an IQ slightly below room temperature (Centigrade)???

  • im a liverpool supporter. and i love the righteous brothers. but i hate that the two are associated with eachother. SO MUCH!

  • HOW does ANYONE dislike this song??!!!

  • @msanthropanachronism

An anachronism and a misanthrope might dislike the song... :-)

  • Mahalia did a GREAT version of this song....very, VERY different styles. Wow! What a singer she was.....I certainly can't disagree with you on that one. You're also correct when you say it isn't a contest. Sometimes we forget about that; don't we?

  • I don't understand why people necessarily interpret this song as a "religious" song. Certainly it could be, but it isn't necessarily so. "Hope" does not necessarily equal "God" or "Jesus". In any case, I have never heard ANYONE match Roy Hamilton's version of this song...not Elvis...no one. Elvis idolized Roy Hamilton and Roy had a HUGE influence on the career of Elvis.

  • @lindeycloud

MAHALIA MATCHED HIM. BUT ITS NOT A CONTEST. ITS PURE JOY WHEN TWO GREAT ARTISTS RADIATE

  • @ELVIS4221

While I do prefer Roy's version to Mahalia's, that's just a personal preference. There's such an underlying strength and power to his version. It's hard to believe someone could actually sing it the way he does. Mahalia does a beautiful and gentle version. I listened to it again this morning. She sings like an angel (that's a figure of speech...I've never heard an angel sing....).

  • @lindeycloud Aha! I kept telling myself I CAN'T be the only person on youtube to know about Roy Hamilton.

Pleased to make your acquaintance lindeycloud. I've been studying Roy Hamilton's singing, because he's out of this world good. I sing myself, and am working on raising my upper range. I've idolized Elvis, but now that I found his 'teacher' for the big songs, it's a revelation. His breath control is what I'm after first -without it those higher sustained notes aren't possible.

  • @lindeycloud I also liked how Elvis sang it, but I wish Roy didn't fall back into the odd sounding little bit he does at the end of big chorus - just deadens the final moments for me - he shoulda' belted out the end like he does in "My Prayer". Sadly, Elvis copies this same sort of fall back in his version at the end as well, instead of finishing big, like he does in "My Way" Oh yeah - I'll add my voiice to this important point;

There is no contest here or on any other topic on you tube.

  • @bigbadassjohnson

I found Roy's version on you tube some time ago. When I was very young, I'd wake up to my mother playing it almost every Saturday morning (my father preferred "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash) :-) That may be why I like his version the best so far....I'm used to it....

I'll listen to some more of Roy's work. Sometimes when I hear him sing this song, I'm still stunned that someone could actually pull off singing it the way he does.

  • @bigbadassjohnson

Did you ever get My Prayer up and running? I was thinking about your comment that you wish Roy hadn't fallen back into the odd sounding..... I was thinking that was a lot like having Kate Beckinsale as your girlfriend and being upset that she dropped her towel on the bathroom floor after getting out of the shower while you were brushing your teeth....

  • I believe that ''You'll Never Walk Alone" should be above a LOT of gates, and also believe that "See, You Never Did Walk Alone...Never Once!!! " just may be above one really important gate. I believe. ... Hey, that would make a good song don't you think?

  • You don't like this song... Get Lost... then....

  • My dad knows about 3 lines of this song and repeatedly sings it in the shower on a daily basis.

  • Simple response to this video - "Excellent"!

  • when did Bobby die, how old was he.....:>(

  • They were so wonderful together.

Bobby will be missed... He had such a Beautiful voice....

  • I love this song; I think NO NONE does it better than Elvis but these guys are pretty close!

  • Such a haunting lo ballad voice ......... Lovely tear jerks in the man cave.......

  • AMEN

  • "righteous"

  • This video/ song is unforgettable because Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield were a perfect match to sing it!

  • Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield were the best males teamed up! They make the best of this video and song - unforgettable!

  • The Righteous Bros. have sung this number much, much better than they do here. At their best, they do it wonderfully.

  • The first singer sounds like he had too much brandy before comming onto stage :)

  • i am a liverpool surporter i really like this song but when whoever these people r. i dont like it there voice is to deep

  • Love this song. I like it by Jerry and the Pacemakers as well. As we used to say in my neighborhood, the Righteous Bros. were Blue Eyed soul brothers..

  • YNWA!

  • 2:08

    WOW

  • Wow, and to think that these two soulful, distinct and yet complementary voices went to high school together. What are the chances of that? I'd say the "chances" of that are just about zero. A match made in Heaven.

  • John Farnhams version beats all other attempts at singing this song.

  • @webaroos no sorry gerry and the pacemakers version is the best

  • @trentfrompunchy It's true. Thanks for that. Love Gerry. This woulnn't pass an X factor audition. Fabulous song by Rodgers and Hammerstein though. Harmonies are weird. Hurts my ears.

  • @trentfrompunchy I luv Gerry & The Pacemakers, they are from my era, love all the English 60's era music that was my youth but Farnham has a special something, although I never really admired him until recently and after 5 decades he's still performing almost as well, have a listen to his control, Gerry's was always a pleasant rendition but Farnham puts an emotional effort into his version.

  • @webaroos im australian and sorry im not a john farnham fan i think its time he done his lat and final no more final comebacks show, i guess its the fact im used to the gerry and the pacemakers version

  • @trentfrompunchy I used to print & distribute dance posters in the late 60's early 70's and John Farnham was doing his very last concert routines even then, same as every store has a closing down or last opportunity sale.

YNWA has also been done by aussie Mirusia Louwerse with Andrei Rieu orchestra, check that out for a brilliant alternative, a bit of Aussie pride.

  • @webaroos ok thankyou i will

  • Not a patch on the Gerry & The Pacemakers version despite these guys being two fantastic singers, Bill Medley seem so ill at ease, and has been already stated, Bobby Hatfield is no long with us, another icon of a fantastic decade has left us with a rich memory of music.

  • I don't know, but I sensed something off. don't know if they hadn't rehearsed the song enough, or they were angry with each other before they went on, but I just got the impression they weren't happy to be there on stage at that particular moment. The song reflected it, because they are usually so polished and perfect, and this just didn't seem up to their usual standards. However, this is just my humble personal opinion. I've heard the song before, once, and this was a poor cover of it.JMHO!

  • @ProudKansan08 Funny, I sensed the same thing. Hatfield gave Medley a sideways glance at the beginning that I thought was odd.

  • @MrCombat1965, yes, I noticed that, and I guess I was alluding to it. Strange, yes, but I guess with those singers, there is always going to be some petty rivalry and jealousy.

  • Why was the songs so short from this area.

I must go back all the time while im writing and try listening and start it over or a new song...:-(

  • good very good but listern to the celtic sing

  • not a huge fan of this song....but gee it gives me shivers when I hear them sing it

  • fucking sexy!!!

    <3

  • Thanks for your e-mail update to me concerning this song. It's one of my favorites and I have liked Gerry and the Pacemakers since back in the 1960s. By the way, who was Tommy Burns as I believe that this song was played at his funeral. Was he a young man when he died?

    Thanks!

  • The boys knocked this one out of the park, and it's live! No lip-synching. Two amazing voices that blended beutifully, no matter what they sang.

  • Gerry Marsden of Gerry and the Pacemakers does a GREAT rendition of this song. It also has something to do with the Liverpool football team in England, but I don't know the connection.

  • @werbeone this is liverpool football teams anthem, the words you'll never walk alone are above the gates, at anfield liverpools home ground, gerry marsden was from liverpool and he was a liverpool supporter and he made this song for them in 1962 :) (p,s i am a liverpool supporter)

  • @McCullyCrew Actually this is a Rogers & Hammerstein song from their musical 'Carousel' in 1945.

  • @McCullyCrew No he didnt..

It was written in 46 by Rodgers and Hammerstein for a musical..

  • @McCullyCrew Celtic supporters sing it as well.

  • @McCullyCrew actually Rodgers and Hammerstein wrote the song

  • @cammyjeee Yes, it's from the musical "Carousel".

  • @McCullyCrew liverpool sucks big hairy english tea sacks, Man City all the way mother fuckaaaa

  • @McCullyCrew but Celtic had it before ye... ye didn't begin to use it until after the Hilsbrough disaster .. RIP (PS A United fan!)

  • @McCullyCrew Actually the song was originally played at Manchester United's ground after the Munich Air crash. The song came about at Liverpool when they played it once before a match and the fans took to it and kept singing even after the song finished. From then on it was sung at Anfield.

  • Comment removed

  • @RachJD1994

Actually, the song was originally played in the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical "Carousel". Roy Hamilton sang his version to the top of the charts in 1955. Both were prior to the 1958 air disaster. I suppose you mean "it was first sang at a sporting event" or something like that.....I can't comment on that because I don't know, but rest assured, 1958 was not when it originally played.

  • @lindeycloud You are right. Carousel made me cry when Billy Bigelow came down from heaven for his daughter's graduation to teach her one very important lesson. Another great song from the musical was "IF I LOVED YOU". Why can't they make movies like that anymore??????

  • @laChabela42

Roy Hamilton recorded "If I Loved You" also....another showcase piece for the man with a truly astounding voice.

  • @lindeycloud Thanks!! I will look for it and listen to it. I truly love the song. Hugs!!!

  • they sang this song better than any other singer I have ever heard they were great together now one is singing in heaven

  • Because that's what christians do....

  • @BobbyColePopMusic What's a Christian?

  • @BobbyColePopMusic How sad for you...

  • @SherryAnn68

    No, How sad for you!!!

  • @BobbyColePopMusic How sad in the US, people are denying their Christian heritage. In some regions of the world, the price of being a Christian in death. Anyway, to each his own. We are accountable to ourselves whatever we do in our lives.. :-))

  • @BobbyColePopMusic Sorry you were offended but I believe in the ONE truth, the ONLY truth there is and you don't. I'm trying to be compassionate towards you in saying "how sad for you..." It wasn't meant to be a put-down. There can only be one truth and if you really want to go through life turning your back on Jesus, make sure you've researched it because if YOU'RE wrong, that means you're missing out on God's whole purpose since the beginning of time.

  • @SherryAnn68

Take your religious crap and certitude to another page. It doesn't belong here. I lived it and it's all bullshit. Don't mention it again....!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MsClassicsneverdie a christian is a slater

  • I jujst have to wonder what this has to do about god and what it actually has to do about two remarkable performers with remarkable voices.

Why do people have to bring god into it? Isn't it enough to just appreciate someone's ability to delilver a song?

    Why always this god thing?????

  • i liked what you said lynette and no matter the response the truth stands God exists and He loves us,

  • Oh man!! I just LOVE these guys. and yes, we lost a good one when Bobby died. We can relive part of his life with this video. Thanks so much for posting.

  • Bill Medley has the most beautiful male voice ever in history - at least in my time. Show me who else can do as well. His partner Bobby Hatfield did a great job with him.. They shared such wonderful pitches ( notice how they traded high and low tones.) They knew how to send our hearts home with love! I have always wanted to meet Bill Medley. Bobby should never be forgotten too!

  • A beautiful song and performance by The Righteous Brothers!!! 5*****

  • Oh, stop it, Lynette! You're merely displaying your ignorance and lack of education for the entire YouTube community to see. We may not have "god" anymore, but at least we've still got the Tooth Fairy and Santa. You'll have to be content with them.

  • @boblpage Don´t worry God exist you sad person:-)

  • also its association through gerry marsden gerry and the pacemakers and the liverpool football club .it makes the hair stand on the back of your neck when you hear 40000 or 50000 supporters sing it.

  • @1968davidcassin

I hope to see a LFC someday

  • To ezekialwheel. I believe appeared on vinil on the go ahead and cry album. try Somewhere on treir albub called Standards. Bobby Hatfields BEST recording. Both do appear on a couple different cds

  • This is actually a spiritual love song that speaks very powerfully to God's love and strength in bringing us through the "storms" of life and giving us renewed hope and purpose, which strengthens our faith in God and how He operates. It is highly encouraging and the RB sing it so beautifully with great harmony...it makes me cry every time I hear it! Their voices are unforgettable!

Another great song is "I Believe" which is so powerful and beautifully done.

  • @lynettem100

wow its a song from Liverpool england from Gerry and The Pacemakers just copied from a lot of people and is sang a lot during football games in Europe..fucking cunt

  • boy , how hard is this song to sing......wow

  • The world lost one of the best with Bobby's passing. Listen to his voice pull this song together. He gave it the 'righteous' sound.

  • @Marieembarq shame talented people with their money die because of drugs and they are not happy - its part of their brilliance I suppose throughout history same recurrence happens. He had a bad habit even in his sixties before he died in 2003; I think their voice are unique and beautiful and for that we should look upon this as a means to see what is truly wonderful in this world a higher emotion pure and succinct and loving

  • blue eye soul........

  • This is a live version, the record version is far better, having more power to the voices and the instruments. Still, this beats Gerry & The Pacemakers. And by all means the Lee Towers version.

  • Prefiero la versión de Gerry & The Peacemakers

  • My mother used to sing this to me as a lullaby.

  • @Joypontious oh what a great memory for you...I feel like crying

  • great vid awesome performance by them as always but timing is off someone should download this and edit it then repost it on yt

  • WOW!

  • Beautiful song sung by Bill and Bobby. I have this on a cd ,now can see it on YT, thank you for posting

  • I have always like this song. I loved the musical Carousel.

  • This is a fantastic version!
